Wow, soooooo many variety nowadays.

I remember one variety show before @ KBS about army life as well... The cast are Lee Su Geun, Changmin 2AM and few other actors & comedian but it gets axed after couple of episodes airing.. This is way back in 2010-2011.

Jang Hyuk in variety? Seriously? Oh well, I have faith in him...

I love how the three best friends (Kim Jong Kook, Cha Tae Hyun and Jang Hyuk) are all active in the variety field now. Looks like there will be some friendly rivalry between the three especially since their shows air in the same timeslot.

I've watched all the episode and found it very entertaining. Of course it is not for everyone but if you wanted to understand what almost all able-bodied Korean males experience (endure) for 2 years of their lives, this would be a good show to watch. All the army inside jokes (?) are explained for the public (especially female audiences). I think the stand outs are Kim Su-Ro and Sam Hemmington (an Aussie or Kiwi?)--they are just so funny. The premise is the cast are assigned to a particular army unit for 6 days (3 pisodes) to learn what they do. So far, they endured the booth camp, the White Horse Division (famous for their battlefield wins in both Korean and Vietnam Wars), and a K-9 Self-Propelled Howitzer unit.

I hope Ryu Soo Young stays on the show. I love him and his perfectionist streak that shows up ever so often on the show. It's so fun to watch him explain so earnestly about how to perfectly fry food. Or how he cried when they had to leave the Baek Ma camp. Man, why have I not known you earlier, Ryu Soo Young?!

Lol at dodging MS... It's not forbidden to cheat: It's forbidden to get caught. If I was a Korean man I would do anything possible (and smartly effective) to avoid it. As for returning in the army for variety or whatever, they must be paid well or be gluttons for punishment.

I think it's a perfect opportunity to gain love form the public or in Jang Hyuk's case even more so, MBLAQ's Mir gained a lot from his participation and so I'm assuming that is why Hyung-shik is signing up as well. In Jang Hyuk's case I think it's an admirable thing to want to do this show for his own well-being, reflection is always something that should be done in life plus I think the bonus of having Kim Soo Ro there as well helped him make the decision too.

Does anyone know if it is being subbed into English? Would love to watch it, I have a soft spot for Kim Soo Ro since Family Outing days!

Okay, where can I find this show with English subs??? I have been wanting to watch for awhile (been slightly in love with Ryu Soo-young since Ojakkyo) but I can't seem to find it subbed anywhere... Help?

I don't watch variety shows....just read your recaps of a few of them....

I would think I that all the suffering would be moot sincethese guys have either already done the real thing or will soon be doing the real thing. I don't get what would draw viewers in about this show, except maybe his who want a nostalgic look back at their army days.

Suddenly became curious about this show because of Ryu Soo Young. He's one of my ahjussi crushes! May I ask if he has been on the show since episode 1? If not, in what episode did he start to appear? I' planning to watch the show only for him. Hehe.

And, this show on the same timeslot as 1N2D, right? Then it's against his Ojakgyo bro Joo Won's show. :))

All I know about his variety skills was how awkward he was when he guested on Family Outing. Yoo Jaesuk and the other cast members basically had to coax him to speak (and even then, it was still incredibly uncomfortable to watch). Granted, it was so many years ago, so here's to hoping that his variety persona has only gotten better since then! And I've never heard of this show, but it reminds me of a humorous Stars Earn Stripes (US show)...and I'm sure at least a few others remember how quickly they pulled it off air.

i love this show... when i first watched it, i had no clue what it was going to be about - now i love it. it's a manly show - not sure what that means...

the casts has been great so far and you secretly root for all of them.

kim suro - the leader of the pact and is just awesome. always loved the guy since FO.
sam hemmington - it's nice to see a foreigner participate in the show, although i do feel bad for him at times.
son jinyoung - this guy is the heart of the group. love what he brings to the table.
ryu soo young - he genuinely seems so proud and happy at times, and he's got insane memorizing skills or something... a perfectionist.
mir - a bit quiet, but you can see him working hard, despite his injured back.
suh kyung suk - keeps it real and brings humor too.

my favorites have been: kim suro and son jinyoung. son jinyoung makes me almost cry at times.

So this will be a reunion for Ryu Soo Young and Jang Hyuk after working together in Successful Bright Girl Story all those years ago, right?

I wonder if they kept in touch and stayed friends

no wonder he accept this one, coz his past project , called Iris2 got low rating ever for his career.

he need something good to make his level star going up again after Iris2

Iris 2 is a failure for him (from rating and korean respond side).

and also rating "real man" is really good (even knocked up kang ho dong variety/barefoot), so its a good deal for him to join real man who have a good rating, and hope his level star will rise again like past.

When Jang Hyuk was on Running Man ep 44 & 45, and he was *amazingly funny* in ep 45 when the challenge was to model goofy jeans/do a commercial in front of a bunch of advertising execs. IIRC, the final was between Lee Gwang Soo and Jang Hyuk.
