Dramabeans Podcast #15

Podcast #15
Running time: 57:28
In which we:
- Start off with King of Dramas, the king of meta;
- move on to the pain and misery of I Miss You (10:15);
- compare notes on how our expectations for School 2013 shook out versus the final product, with much love for its bromance and a little less love for the afterschool specials, with a brief tangent on Bleak Night (15:45);
- wish that Jeon Woo-chi had more dimension, though we enjoyed the fun, Cha Tae-hyun’s impishness, and Hong Jong-hyun’s adorable stoic charm (22:00);
- talk about how adorable Flower Boy Next Door is, Yoon Shi-yoon’s endearing performance and his cute chemistry with Park Shin-hye (though it must be noted that the podcast was recorded before finale week — I think we’d have a few tempered comments to add were we given a do-over) (32:50);
- and wrap up with the juvenile antics of Level 7 Civil Servant (42:35).

Thank you for the podcast! I had listened to it on a loop through my workday today. I can't believe you brought up Zac Efron in comparison with Joo-won!! I haven't watched him in anything besides High School Musical.
Listening to this podcast, I realized that part of what sucked me into Level 7 was because of the ost. It isn't a great OST, but I really like the songs in this drama! You've brought a great point about what they get trained on and what they don't get trained on. Someone should have given Doha lessons on how to do sneaky breakins. There should be a simulation where he gets kicked in the balls for each misstep. All these spies should be shown pictures of the corpses of dead spies as a warning as to what can happen if they're not careful. I'd be curious to find out what CKH and JW think of the drama after they're done promoting it.
School 2013 was a surprising watch and I loved it. But yeah, it could have been better. It was pretty uneven - focusing too much on some issues and not enough on others. Same with the students. I love Jang Nara and Daniel Choi do another drama together. I love those two together!

[SPOILERISH BLEAK NIGHT COMMENT (so don't read it if you you're the sort to stick your fingers in your ears and go "nahnahnahnahnah, I didn't hear you, DON'T TELL ME!")]
Re Bleak Night, why couldn't we have a neatly tied ending? I get they couldn't have told the dad about his son's behavior, but couldn't the other two boys also have been more forgiving when their friend reached out to them, or at least regretted not being that way?
