Dramabeans Meetup in NYC

Hey guys, the date of the Dramabeans Meetup is fast approaching, so we wanted to give you the final details of when and where to come meet us. If you’re in the New York area, stop by The 13th Step for a drink and talk dramas with the DB crew, including our lovely recap minions. We’ll be in the Vice & Virtue Room (we wanted vice only but damn that virtue had to tag along). It is a 21+ event, so you have two weeks to get your fakes made. [A joke! Hahahaha, nervous laughing, totally not serious or endorsing criminal activity in any way.]

TIME: 7pm – 10pm

If you need to contact us the day of, feel free to email or tweet us (@javabeans and @girlfriday_db), or scream, “Omagaaaawd it’s Lee Min-ho!” and head in the general direction of the ensuing stampede. But since I’m pretty sure there will be heels and liquor involved, we recommend the first two options.

I guess the meetups in our respective countries will have to make do. I'm still sad about living halfway across the globe but it's not my fault that Malaysia is so darn far for the US,so there goes. CHEER UP YEOROBUN! There will be pictures up(I hope!) for us to sort of get the feel of it.

I'm pretty low maintenance, and let go of many things my heart wants but sometimes there are some things that I just always wish I had. This is going to be one of those things.

I will be there with my friend who doesn't watch dramas but loves THT anyway.
I cannot tell you how excited I am.
Just wondering, if 12% of that number of folks who said they would go actually go, that is over 200 people.
(Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

I am seriously reconsidering my earlier decision to be a responsible adult and not use ANOTHER two days of vacation in support of my K-obsession. (I do not regret ONE MOMENT of my trip to see the Boys Who Bang)
I may just swoop in late in the day on Thursday and swoop out again in the morning. Have laptop, can work remotely. I don't have to tell the people I reschedule WHY I need to be in NYC suddenly.

Well it also turns into a $500-$600 trip between trains, hotels, cabs, BOOZE...there's also that part of the responsible adulthood being a drag. But man, I've scoped out the trains I'm looking at hotels...I know exactly where this is - between St. Mark's Place and Astor Place.

JoAnne: Just as anxiety that I booked a room in KTown and the event is somewhere else in the city had me frightened about making in around the scary big city, I see that you are coming to the event and I am back into super excited mode. Yeah!
Please, if anyone else is going back to Hotel Stanford after the event and wants to share a cab, let Julia know. (Will it narrow it down that I am a white haired 50 year old woman?)

Julia, I look forward to meeting you! - The Stanford, I should have just done that. I got a place in the East Village thinking I would just stay down that end.
I found what looks like a pretty decent restaurant not all that far from the venue, too - NY Tofu House - soondubu! galbi! soju! bibimbap! ddukbokki! But there's tons of choices, and you're staying IN KTown. I was very happy with Silla when I was last in that neighborhood.

It's one of those restaurants that is mostly known for soondubu jigae, but you can order other stuff too - I like my soondubu with beef and kimchi and a side of galbi! My friend likes the soondubu with seafood. You can get it with chicken, pork, more tofu, it's yummy!
They also serve the short ribs (galbi) and bibimbap in the stone pots and all that kind of thing. Hungry already!

We can try to meet up earlier on Thursday or on Friday.
My arrival time will depend on traffic into the city.

Just booked mine too! I'll be staying at InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel, if anyone is going near Grand Central. Priceline has awesome price, btw, if you do your own bid!
Let me check out the room first, but if we don't go karoake, having somewhere to have an afterparty would be awesome. :)

It's my nickname "Candi" with the 'x' as a variable for 'd'. It happened on another site where I was creating a username and since I'm bad at it, I just wanted to use my nickname but it was taken. So I stuck an 'x' where the 'd' was. I liked how it looked, so I now I use this name for a bunch of things, lol.

Yesssss.....now I just have to make sure absolutely nothing gets scheduled for this day....unfortunately, I do have something to attend the next morning so taking into account my commute I'm not sure if I can stay the whole three hours....but I'm still coming....don't know how much I beat myself up for not being able to see JB and GF at comicon....I hope our weather here gets warmer by then too

In the east village? Since it's the city, I'd expect it to be pretty crowded. You can try looking it up for around the area (maybe there is a parking lot near by), but I expect you'd probably have to park a block or so away somewhere and then walk to the bar.

I know there are little parking garages dotting that area, just not sure how close to the bar. You could google parking garages 2d ave and see.
