Eom Ki-joon suits up to battle The Virus

Please be cool, not cheesy. Please be cool, not cheesy. That’s basically going to be my incantation till the OCN’s upcoming thriller drama The Virus premieres. And based on these stills from the drama, I’m feeling optimistic — there’s a nicely stark vibe that hints at sci-fi apocalypse, which is appropriate given the killer virus on the rampage in the storyline.

The Virus centers around the team of scientists at the Center for Disease Control, who scramble to stop the spread of the disease, of whom Eom Ki-joon is the leader. As an aside: I love him in any situation, but wowsa does Eom Ki-joon make Hazmat look hot.

So, if time traveling was last year’s big trend in dramaland (and sports dramas before that, and fashion dramas before that), will the plague be this year’s? We’ve also got JTBC’s epidemic thriller End of the World on the books for spring, and I’ll be interested in seeing how they differ. And which plague will wreak more havoc. Let the medical apocalpyse begin!

The Virus also stars Lee Ki-woo (Standby), Hyun-woo (Pasta), Park Min-woo (Flower Boy Ramyun Shop), Lee So-jung (Dream), and Wonder Girl Yubin. Its first episode (of ten total) will air March 1 on OCN.

LOVE THIS CAST!
I love the terror behind the idea of good guys battling bad viruses.
It isn't like there is a possibility of biological redemption by the plague cells. We can wish them dead all we want! We don't have to pity their sad parentless upbringing, either.

Plus, what is scarier than the extermination of mankind?

I saw the teasers for this and it looks like their may be one person linked to "the virus" and he's just walking around like it's no one's business!

Also digging Eom Ki Joon's mustache! From now on calling him EOMF Ki Joon. A different kind of Eom-force. Ahahaha~ But, anyway, very excited. The first couple stills remind me of I Am Legend but hopefully our hero won't be having awkward arguments with abandoned store mannequins this time around. o__o

It took me a moment to identify who it was in the pic. He looks so weird without glasses and with a stache! Also, I agree... He is totally rocking that Hazmat suit. Looking forward to this drama. I can do 10 easy.

Don't recall seeing Eom Ki-joon with facial hair before...it's a good look for him. Really enjoyed his acting in "Ghost" and I'm looking forward to this new project.

I'm really liking the shots here. Just like you said, nice and stark, not so much over the top cheese as barren fear. I'll be very interested to see this one. So...who do you think will be the first to whip out the Zombie Apocalypse? ;)

THE VIRUS' photo stills already look engaging! It reminds me of Steven Soderbergh's CONTAGION with Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet, I just hope they will stick to that smart kind of story with sort of intensity like The Walking Dead's.
Eom Ki-Joon is perfect for the role. I can't wait to watch.

Count me in on sci-fi apocalypse.
I'm really interested in how korea would expand on this genre and would really like to see a really well-done show made just for my apocalypse-lovin' cravings.
As long as it's not cheesy, i'm all up for it!

now after this , i hope OCN can consider the OCN Avengers by combining all my lovely OCN Heroes in 1 drama - Vampire Prosecutor, TEN, Hero, The Virus and God's Quiz Dr Han then it'll be perfect!

As soon as I read OCN Avengers, I started to smile. WOW! that would be perfect. I would need to montior my blood pressure the enitre time, but it would be worth it. When you put them all together like that, it really does seem like they have a knack for really interesting (and smexy) heroes.
