Wolf Boy takes the box office
by girlfriday
There seems to be no end in sight to the string of domestic box office hits in Korea this year. Wolf Boy starring Song Joong-ki and Park Bo-young opened in first place this week, and is poised to sell over 500,000 tickets in four days. The film is receiving heaps of critical praise as well, and now Song Joong-ki is being called the king of both screens small and big, with his Nice Guy / Wolf Boy double-first-place killer combo. One Pretty Face to Rule Them All.
It’s just fantastic timing for him, because Nice Guy (KBS’s current Wednesday-Thursday drama and ratings leader) is one of those turning point roles for his career. He’s been the lead in films before, but it’s his first time as a carry-a-drama leading man, and having the show and his concurrent movie both end up commercial successes means big big things for Song.
Wolf Boy is an unusual love story between a reserved girl who’s shut away in a country home and a feral wolf boy. They develop a friendship and she teaches him how to be more human (the toothbrushing still below is my favorite), and they eventually fall in love. But of course when the town discovers that they have a dangerous creature in their midst, the trouble begins.
I can’t wait to get my hands on this movie, mostly because every single still and trailer I’ve seen is gorgeously shot. The film is written and directed by Jo Sung-hee (of horror film End of Animal), and in three days at the box office, it sold 457,205 tickets and heads into the weekend still at Number 1. Whether nice boy, bad boy, or wolf boy, one thing is certain: Song Joong-ki is the It Boy.

Love SJK and love it that he is getting the recognition which he so deserves. Being a pretty face can sometimes be a curse, and it might even be worse for men. Thankfully he has proven himself beyond that and will definitely be offered more varied roles (and blow our minds again).
Altho I must say that, I walked past T*ny M*ly the other day and had to physically force myself to continue walking and not stop to stare at that huge poster of this beautiful man... and start ranting how God can be so unfair to put good looks and brains into such a package and not leave anything for me. ... :(

Oh well FINALLY SJK shines the brightest of them all! When I was watching SKKS his role was not that major with a adorable and easy breezy which is way different from this movie and his current drama.,. I'm glad he can pull it off.,. :D

How long does SJK have to take military duty? I saw SJK at first in SKKS, n he stole my attention over lee minho kekeke (previously,I thought minho is so perfect here and there). But then SJK rules! In running man,he might not as crazily funny as other members, but he gave something fresh to the show. I hope in the future, SJK challenge himself to take different roles to show his capability acting to the limits. What a go, song!btw,is joong ki's Triple a drama/movie!?

I...must...see...this...movie! The premise alone has me totally intrigued. Feral boy, shy girl, middle of nowhere...what a great concept. Toss in the actors, and it's a must see on my short list. Please, please, please, let them release this with English subs soon! I'm slowly learning Korean, but I'm still not good enough to watch a show or movie without help. :(

Yes, Joong-ki is really the IT BOY!! he is so good in Nice Guy, and yes, also in his other dramas, i.e. tree with deep roots and sungkyuwan scandal. Luv him more when i saw him in Busan last month. He is so cutie, so warm and lovable! more power to Joong-ki oppa.

It's amazing how prolific his body of work has been in the short time he's been acting since 2008. Seven movies and eight television dramas. It is easy to see improvement in his acting for each one, too. Regardless of his face, this boy has talent.
