Jo In-sung and Song Hye-gyo confirm melodrama

Confirmations are in for the cast of the upcoming melodrama That Winter, The Wind Blows, the latest project from star writer Noh Hee-kyung (Padam Padam, Worlds Within, Goodbye Solo). Song Hye-gyo and Jo In-sung have signed on headline, and the drama has scored a broadcaster as well. It’ll be on KBS’s 2013 slate, though no word yet on a premiere date.

It’s a conventional melodrama about “a man and woman who don’t believe in love.” The story is based on the Japanese drama I Don’t Need Love, Summer / Ai Nante Irane Yo, Natsu, adapted once already into a film starring Moon Geun-young and Kim Joo-hyuk in 2006, called I Don’t Need Love. The heroine is blind and the hero is a rich playboy, who for some reason takes on this huge con pretending to be her brother. They’re both bitter and jaded when it comes to love, but they slowly start to change, until the sibling-not-a-sibling part complicates matters. Yeah, you think?

Check out the trailer below for the movie version, which seems like pretty hardcore melo — misanthropy, blindness, fauxcest, and lots and lots of tears. That certainly doesn’t mean it won’t be done well, by any means. It just won’t be a happy world. Noh Hee-kyung is re-teaming with PD Kim Kyu-tae (Padam Padam, Worlds Within) and already the cast is creating lots of buzz for the show. It’s just that both actors have done these characters before, and the idea of an entire story built upon a gigantic lie isn’t the most appealing. But perhaps there’s more to the remake than what the previous versions have done. One can only hope.

That Winter, The Wind Blows enters production in October and plans for a 2013 broadcast.

i have to agree with the title, its going to be one cold and long winter for me. Why gods, WHY are my two favourite men coming back to the small screen with my two most abhorred actresses (first JH now JIS- i'm being punished).

It looks like 2013 is going to be a k-movie year for me, i'm going into drama rehab for some much needed RnR

How funny is it that Moon Geun Young played the younger version of Song Hye-Gyo's character in Autumn tale and now Song Hye Gyo is playing the same character that MGY has already portrayed.

Kdrama is like fashion seasons. Last season was time travel, with maybe Faith being the last? And the new season is mostly melodrama. Can they like throw in one or two comedy, something like History of the Salaryman?

wow another great k-drama next year, there's Iris 2 and SHK and JIS melodrama..look forward for this two series..

Though SHK is one of the prettiest actress in korea but her acting skills isn't improving even though she's in the industry for so long..

Meanwhile JIS is one of the best actors coz his best performance in WHTB and movie THE CLAssic (w Song Yi jin)..

But above anything else, I will watch this drama coz my dream pair come true at last..:)

I've been looking forward to Jo In Sung's comeback drama after I watched What Happen In Bali.

I don't mind melodramas, some of my favourites are that genre such as I'm Sorry I Love You and Snow Queen. I think melodramas can be very beautiful and poignant when done right, with enough lightheartedness and sweetness to it. I remember really loving A Love To Kill until it went downhill to the disappointing ending. I enjoy watching Worlds Within, Goodbye Solo, What Happen In Bali etc too but never plan to rewatch them.

However, blind woman plot reminds me of Sad Love Story which I borrowed the cd set from my friend last year and never watched past 2-3 episodes. And the sibling thing reminds me of Autumn Tale where I hated the OTP and loved the 2nd lead Won Bin in it.

So yeah, the plot makes me doubtful... but with Jo In Sung on board I'm sure will give it a try. Hope it will turn out surprisingly good.

Oh, no...
I agree with most of you. Mellow? I had seen 'The World Within' and I didn't really get the hang of it.

I love SHG, I wish she had a big successful 'comeback' just like when she nailed it with 'Full House'.

But.......... well, maybe I just have to wait. I wish the drama has the twist so it doesn't end anywhere near the movie. And the twist is more to 'noir' side. Oh boy....

At this point I'd watch anything with Jo In Sung in it! So glad he is doing a drama again and this role is practically written for him, come on. And I actually like Song Hye Gyo, while not even close to MGY's talent, she comes across natural unlike a lot of -so called- beautiful actresses out there. And NHK is great, do you need more? Not me.

May I point that a happy end is not necessary a good thing. A sad end can be satisfying if consistent with the story...

Yeah, this seems really depressing based on the movie trailer. However, Padam Padam was so good, so maybe...

umm for the people who says why are they doing this? seriously? they are actors/actresses for crying out loud.. =__= they have to be versatile and able to take different roles..i think they will not grow as an actor/actress if they keep choosing the same genre over and over again..

just keep supporting them if you like them whether you like the genre or not or whether you're going to watch it or not..

as for me love them both but I will not probably watch it since I don't really like melodramas..

Actually JIS have done melodramas before and as for SHG, i think people just don't think she is ready for this kind of roles yet. And not to mention, her character was played by MGY who played it very well. So it's given that people are expecting the actress to be on par if not greater than MGY. I do hope that she proves everyone wrong and show how much she has grown as an actress. I'd love to see her succeed.

What is up w/ JIS's hair? lol

Anyway, from what I have seen, haven't exactly been impressed by JIS's acting (it's decent, but nothing out of the ordinary) and while he's a decent looking chap, don't get what the big deal is about his looks.

Waaaa! I just love these two so much, that i don't even care whether the drama is good or not! I heard this news since September and until now I still Google their names together and see if there are latest news about them and this drama. I can't wait to see them together, my most favorite male and female actors! I still can't process my thoughts, how on earth, how can it be that they'll be together in a drama. I want to cry tears of joy (yes, I'm overacting like that). Please come already 2013!!!!
