Ha Ji-won headlines comic action sageuk movie

Three beautiful secret agents in the Joseon era. That’s the premise behind this movie, which is titled, oh-so-aptly, Joseon Trio of Beauties. It’s a literal translation of the working title, which I hope means they’ll figure out something a little cleverer and, say, less obvious than that in time for its premiere. ‘Cause armed with a nice catchy moniker, this action comedy could be a breezy, fun ride.
Ha Ji-won will play the leader of the group, which just makes sense, doesn’t it? She’s done Joseon era, she’s done spy, she’s done action, she’s done stunts. If anybody were up for a fusion-y sageuk Charlie’s Angels, it would be her, right? She’s basically Korea’s top and possibly only female action star, though I’d love to put Kim So-yeon on that shortlist, and… that’s really about it, isn’t it? Hey, Korea, how about a little less Candy and a lot more ass-kicking?
Kang Ye-won (Quick) plays the second in command, with Brown Eyed Girls pop star Ga-in filling out the trio as the youngest. The plot centers around the three strong ladies who fight baddies seeking to overthrow the monarchy and seize power. There’s no other info about the plot… but we’ve all seen Charlie’s Angels, right? Something tells me plot isn’t exactly the biggest priority.
I’m not familiar with director Park Je-hyun’s prior films, but his filmography makes sense for this project: movies he has directed include rom-com-melo film How To Keep My Love and the comedy Oollala Sisters, and he was also one of several writers for seminal spy-action thriller Shiri.
The movie will begin filming later this month.

after watching secret Garden, King to hearts, Damo, and the one with Kang Dong Won, man , she became my number one choice of Korean actress. she's not the typical white skinned , angelic face stereotype of an actress. She's tough , quiet, and girly. also, i nver heard of her having love affair scandal with actors , i wonder who is her bf, she's 30 something now, marrying age eh! Lucky man whoeve he will be!

You mean Duelist w/ Kang Dong Won. One of my faves. I loved her since then.......no actually I'd seen A 100 days w/ Mr. Arrogant first but I didn't know who she was. She just so versatile.

This looks like a good movie! I like the idea of historical charlie's angels. Does anyone know a good site that has movies with subs? I only know of sites with dramas and I keep wanting to watch movies I hear about, but sadly I need them to be subbed for me to understand. (I really need to just learn Korean...)

I'm absolutely, utterly, completely in!
Quite tired of dramas with 1 or 2 speaking parts for women and a 1000 for men. This sounds like a change.
Not convinced about the 2 famished damsels on the last pictures.
My dream cast would be:
Ha Ji-won
Kim So-yeon
and Kim Sun-ah (in her "She's on duty" mode)
Add Lee Mi-sook as the Joseon-era Charlie and I might just die of happiness overload.
Plus they could sell that series all over the world within minutes!

Have yet to see HJW in anything good, much less decent.
"100 Days With Mr. Arrogant" - simply awful
"Secret Garden" - horrible
"Daddy Long Legs" - mediocre
"Love, So Divine" - mediocre
Also, can't say that I've been impressed w/ HJW's acting (granted, she wasn't given much to work w/ in the aforementioned projects), but even in SG her emotional/crying scenes were a bit lackluster.
Thus far, I've liked her best in her appearance on FO.
I'm sure she's done better work, but I just haven't seen any of it - so i hope this will do the trick.

You should check out Hwang Jin Yi. I personally think it's one of the best performances of her career. If it still doesn't convince you that she's a wonderful actress, then I guess you're just not meant to like her.

I recommend you watch DAMO , HWANG JIN YI and of late, The King 2 Hearts and her best movie Closer to Heaven . Not all her works are fantastic but at least, watch these 4 and you will say she is such an awesome actress. I also disagree about your "horrible" comment to her Secret Garden. She did a good job there.

Jo Insung was only released in the army last year. He's shot a movie as a comeback project, don't know if they've been released yet. He's been busy doing fanmeetings and filming commercials since. :)

She was Badass as she can get in Sector 7 and great acting too. Imagine acting in a green screen as if everything was real? The rest of her co-stars did well too. My one gripe the monster did nothing for me, like a flat line! CG didn't turn out well.

I'll recommand you drama Hwang Jin Yi and movie My Love By My Side (aka Closer to Heaven).
These two are my favorite. ^^
Her newest movie Korea (aka As One) is good too.
The 3 movies you've watched are some of her earlier projects, with simpler story and plot.

Funny thing is HJW was recently chosen at Pifan (producers choice award) award as one of the actor of the year. Because of her power in box office and her acting skills, that is just one of her awards and the list goes on. Secret Garden is well loved and still is and I loved K2H.

But let's get real - those awards tend to be more about popularity and box office draw than actual ability or a great peformance (see Han Suk kyu losing out Kim Soo-hyun for best actor which is a complete oke).
Speaking of SG - can't say I was too impressed with HJW's acting there.
Most of the time, all she did was act peeved (which is like her "thing") and the times when her character had an emotional/crying scene, didn't quite buy it.
For someone who has been criticized widely for her acting, thought that Kim Tae hee's crying/emotional scenes in "My Princess" were a lot more convincing.

Regarding Han Suk Kyu losing out to Kim So Hyun, I too preferred the aforemention. However, regarding HJW's acted as if she's annoyed most of the times, well, if you have a King of Jerk following you at all times, I would too. ;) She did a fine job as well. Her crying scenes, she showed her acting prowess and very believable at that. As far as KTH, you made me laughed out loud. It's okay if HJW acting is not to your liking, it just a matter of different taste and opinion.

Plus, HJW had basically done the exact same thing in "100 Days with Mr. Arrogant" and "Love, So Divine."
Sorry, but HJW"s acting in the crying/emotional scenes wasn't that great.
I could see HJW trying to act all emotional/upset rather than her character being all emotional/upset - which is why I didn't quite buy it.
And what does taste - have to do w/ analysis of acting?
When it comes to acting, I have no biases.
I've been real critical of KTH's acting prior to "My Princess", but there, she really hit it out of the ballpark.
Like I stated before, I like HJW due to her charming appearance on FO - but, have to yet to see a performance from her where I have taken note of her acting.

C'mon - Joy resorted to the COP-OUT that SG was popular/well-loved, much less those "acting" awards.
Like those things have any merit as to actual quality of acting/performances.
And being so quick to defend HJW by attacking KTH's performance in "My Princess" seems a bit hysterical to me.
And I'm someone who was critical of KTH' acting before that.
I adore Yoon Eun hye and Suzy, but at the same time, I can objectively rate their acting.
YEH was good in "Coffee Prince", but everything else - not so good.
Suzy was good in "Intro to Architecture", but "Dream High" and "Big" - not so much.

She can act, but it is just over the top sometimes for some people including myself. Plus, it is really a fact that she can portray tough badass females well but her emotional scenes are abit lackluster actually. Even when she portray badass females, she just acts like she is annoyed. SHE CAN ACT, but sometimes the acting range is abit haywire...

I'll try some of the others, but think I'll pass on "The King 2 Hearts" (sorry, can't stand LSG).
Basically, from what I have seen of HJW, she does the whole spunky/pissed off thing well, but that's about it.
Maybe something like "Hwang Jin Yi" will let me see more depth/variety from HJW.

TK2H is most definitely LSG's break out role. He was passable (to decent) in his first two dramas but he nailed every emotion, in every scene, of every episode in his latest work. He held his own with the veteran and seasoned actors.

True that. Yes in Gumiho LSG was decent n annoying at times but in TK2H, he INCREDIBLY improved. I was moved by his amazing acting. He definetly nailed that role because his emotions were amazing. He really went deep into his character n brought out so much emotion and hidden feelings, it was BEAUTIFUL!

@BK - you really need to do a better job in the reading COMPREHENSION dept.
I didn't say that HJW was a bad actress; instead, I stated that I haven't seen her in anything where I took note of her acting and that I'm sure she did a better job in other projects.
And I also never stated that KTH was the better actress; just that she gave a better performance in "My Princess" than HJW did in any of the things I've seen her in, including SG.
Overall, KTH has had worse performances.

Maybe you can try watching My love By My Side. I personally love HJW in this movie. And since it's a movie, i'm sure it's easier for you to watch it as it's shorter compared to drama Hwang Jin Yi.
I understand everyone has their opinions and preference, but maybe you can try re-phrasing your sentence. Make it sound a bit less offending to others who disagree with you, thank you. ^^

King 2 Hearts is probably the best korean drama i've watched. The character developments are fantastic and the plot will have you on the edge of your seat. Seriously worth checking out.

From the title, I'm guessing they (the actresses) will be portraying Jang Nok-soo (Yeonsan-gun's most known concubine), Jeong Nan-jeong (Yoon Won-hyeong's concubine-turned-2nd legal wife /slash/ Queen Munjeong's sister-in-law trusted confidante), & Jang hee-bin (no need to define).
Since they're the trio I know of, and historically and TV-wise are the usual baddies.

I saw it on wikipedia. It seems legit though since it has references and I checked those.
She is one of the greatest actresses in Korea. She is the only actress who attracted more than 13 million viewers in a year in Korea. I can't wait for this movie.

it just makes me mad.. comparing HJW w/ KTH? KTH is way way behind HJW. I've watched IRIS, My Princess and she just sucks. a great actress makes you cry when she cries, makes you smile, makes you feel what she feels. Her emotions coming out of the screen to touch you. Hwang Jin Yi and SG are one of her best yet, got tired of her accent in K2H, I was not able to watch Damo or WHIB oh, please don't compare her with Kim Tae Hee.

For those critical of HJW's acting, just count the numbers of award she'd gotten. They were not only popularity contest and I think she even has the most number of awards among the korean actress not only for acting.
