Giveaway hootenanny: CDs and OSTs!

It’s a giveaway! It’s a hootenanny! It’s a giveaway hootenanny!

Here’s the shortened version of how this giveaway came to be: gummimochi says, “Hey, I have this CD I want to give away to fans to celebrate my anniversary with Dramabeans,” and we says, “That’s a great idea, let’s steal it and give away LOTS of stuff, because as we know, more is always better!”

So we’re giving away OSTs, one from each of us, just to say thanks for being you, and for sharing our neverending love of all things kdrama.

Rules:

Leave a comment here (with your real email address!), explaining why you’d like to win the CD of your choice. Maybe this was your favorite drama EVAR, or maybe you really want that disc to use for dart practice. Whatever floats your boat. You may enter for any or all of the CDs (separate comment per entry, please), but be sure to specify which particular one you are addressing.

Note that winners will NOT be picked in a random selection; each of us will choose one winner, to be announced next week. Meet back here on Sunday, August 12, for results!

SHINee’s “Sherlock”

gummimochi:

This time one year ago, I could never have imagined that I would be able to share my everlasting love for variety, drama, and pop music to a beautiful you. Putting all those together, I’ve chosen SHINee’s new mini-album, “Sherlock.”

Min-ho will be headlining the upcoming drama, To the Beautiful You, where he needs to be clued in that a he might be a she. Not like it takes Sherlock Holmes-esque detective skills to figure that out though, but hey – this is kdrama-land.

You’ve Fallen For Me OST

kaedejun:

Time flies when you’re having fun! It feels like yesterday when I wrote my first recap, and I can still remember that experience. 12 recaps and 2 years later, I’m still living through that experience – which I’ll never forget – thanks to Dramabeans, where discussion, fan-girling (or fan-guying), and sharing flow through like streams of consciousness during the lazy days of summer. Speaking of summer – this is why I’ve chosen the You’ve Fallen For Me OST. Its OST makes me think of sunshine, happiness, sunflowers, and daisies. Really. And it features CN Blue’s Jung Yong-hwa and Kang Min-hyuk, which is one of my few favorite bands (second to the almighty Big Bang). So I hope you enjoy it as much as I have, and live this summer out as carefree and happily as the students of You’ve Fallen For Me. I’ll see you at the beach!

Chuno OST

HeadsNo2:

This is a soundtrack near and dear to my heart, not only because Chuno will always remain one of my all time favorite dramas, but because it also represents one of my favorite aspects of dramas and Dramabeans – the ability to bring people together. By melding history with modern sensibilities, it’s a drama that broke ground and appealed to a mass audience, whether they were seasoned sageuk lovers or complete newbies to the genre. No matter what our favorite genre is, we all look for stories with the ability to move us, to transport us to another world, to be thought-provoking, to give us a reason to want to gather and share our thoughts, our experiences, and our love of community. One hundred posts later, I’ve definitely come to treasure the discussion that happens here and all the wonderful insights I’ve learned from our time together, and hope you can enjoy a soundtrack that moved and inspired me as much as I did, if not more. Oh, and ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥.

Shut Up: Flower Boy Band OST

javabeans:

There are a lot of reasons for me to single out Shut Up: Flower Boy Band, like the fact that it remains, more than halfway through 2012, the drama that touched my heart the most this year. Other dramas had the big twists, the high drama, the epic conflicts, and the quirky high concepts—but Shut Up, despite its small world and small stories, had for me the sincerest connection with emotion and angst. The people felt real and the drama was fueled by that pounding, aching, fluttering and sometimes raging heart that drove its characters.

But you know what? All that aside, Shut Up: Flower Boy Band had awesome music. It had the deftest way of working its music into the plot, effectively making its soundtrack a running storyline like it was a character of its own. So there.

The King 2 Hearts OST

girlfriday:

An epic drama that managed to steal my heart in an epic way. The King 2 Hearts swept me up in its tense action, side-splitting comedy and sweet romance at every turn, and the score played a big part in keeping me enraptured in that world. It’s also a drama that reminded me of the fervor of fandom — you guys made the crazy train fun (also crazy), and I was happy to come along for the ride. This OST probably marks those few months in time — the OMG WHAT HAPPENS NEXT crack addiction — as much as the drama itself. Here’s to love in the DMZ, and sharing good dramas with friends from around the globe. Cheers.

You’ve Fallen For Me OST

I would like to win this because CN Blue is one of my favorite boy groups. Plus, Yonghwa and I are secret lovarrrs!!! hehe. I also liked the drama and its OST...the combination of the traditional music and the modern music really appealed to me.

SHUT UP FLOWER BOY BAND...

I loved this drama and the music they played in every episode (even Ye Rim's Circus that was only played once throughout the whole series). The drama ranks amongst my all time faves and I am currently rewatching it for the third time. However, I probably would have never even gotten into this drama if it had not been for dramabeans" positive reception to the first episode. When javabeans starts a post with "I love this drama already" after the first episode, I knew I had to check out SUFBB (though the panorama of 6 cute boys right after the intro to the post didn't hurt either).

I have been anticipating the soundtrack right after the first couple of episodes when they ended with the opening sequence of Sung Joon's "Wake Up" which inspired me to desperately search for the song on YouTube only to discover that the song wasn't even available yet:(

I love the songs on the soundtrack. I listen to them all the time on YouTube because I do not download songs from the internet and my budget can't afford my Kdrama OST Wishlists. Although I love YouTube, I can't actually listen to the songs with me on-the-go.

So I would love, love, love to own the soundtrack:) But most of all, thank you guys for hosting this giveaway and your blog is so awesome:)

Shut Up: Flower Boy Band OST

I love that drama. All the bromance, the angst, the romance, the pretty and great music. This is the first kdrama that I can say I love all its music with no exceptions.

Shut Up Flower Boy Band

Why I want an OST?

I find the world upon a brink of fading away.

Things are reduced to space-saving compact compartments. All your possessions reduced to something that can fit on a chip the size of your fingernail. Yet so vulnerable, for just one key can delete it all away in an instant.

Sure before micro-chips and computers, a house fire could have done the same but I find something comforting and reassuring in being able to touch my possessions.

Why I want the Shut Up Flower Boy Band OST?

I teach colloquial English to people for whom it is a second language and I have realized that people have their own style of talking that is lost when they are focusing on just getting the correct words out. It's a shame because when we communicate, it isn't just the words that affect the listener but our tone and our manner.

One way I have tried to amend this problem is to learn other languages through the cultures' poetry, lyrics from songs and film/TV shows instead of the traditional phrases found in text books. Of course that means that sometimes I can't say the basic of things and truly, I sound slightly weird but I think I sound more like me.

I love how you incorporate detailing of music into your posts. I have found so many wonderful Korean musicians and music through your choices additionally allowing me to garner more wonderful lines.

I loved your shut up:lyrics edition and so from that, I have chosen this particular OST.

The King 2 Hearts OST

Finally, I would like to put in a bid for this CD. This drama would be on my top 10 list of dramas for 2012. I love Lee Seungi and Ha Ji Won is one of my favorite actresses. I love the songs they played during the dramas and would like to own the complete OST.

Thanks for the giveaway, DB. I have always been a silent lurker and never participated in other giveaways but when I saw what was being given away this time, I had to come out of my lurkdom. So, pretty please...a CD for me "keeps fingers crossed." Thanks!

You've Fallen For Me OST:

This show had a fantastic and moving soundtrack. I've loved Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa since You're Beautiful, and they're both extremely talented in music as well as acting. Min Hyuk is great, too, since I love CN Blue! I got their poster and a photo book when I went to South Korea last year and shopped in Holika Holika (they were endorsing the brand). Funny that, like kaedejun, the only group I like better than CN Blue is Big Bang (hoping to nag some tickets when they tour in the US!)
The YFFM OST always makes me cheerful and optimistic, and Yong Hwa has such a fantastic voice that makes my heart melt with its expressiveness. Shin Hye has a moving voice too, especially considering she's not even a singer! I hope to win this CD to give me a pick-me-up to get me through tough times as I remember the cuteness of the show.

I find that when you get an error message, instead of just clicking on the refresh page or go back arrow, first return to DB homepage and then the relevant comments section to see if your comment is posted WHICH in most cases it has. Or click the go back page and then click on refresh, since this sometimes also shows you that your comment has been posted.

this drama was epic beyond all epicness and it drove me completely crazy when I couldn't find any of the OST songs on youtube!

this one will always stay close to my heart because it was the first drama that actually made me shed a real tear (you can probably guess when). that says a lot since i'm not someone who cries easily while watching anything. BUT WHY DID HE HAVE TO DIE??!!!! *runs off to shed another tear*

I would love to win SHINee's Sherlock album!

SHINee was the first K-pop band that I ever listened to! Because of them I was introduced to the world of K-pop and even K-dramas! Their songs always put me in a good mood. Whenever I'm feeling done, I just listen to SHINee and then I'm feeling a lot better. Not only is SHINee my favorite K-pop band, but because of my interest in SHINee, I was able to become friends with my best friends today. If I never listened to SHINee, I would not have the wonderful friends that I have today. My friends and I cannot wait for Minho's new drama to air this month! If I were to win this CD, I would be so excited to listen to this in the car with my best friends. :3

Shut Up: Flower Boy Band - because it is so rare that a show/film manages to appropriately tie in music with such taste, subtlety, and precision. Not only was the music great on its own merit, but it perfectly fit the tone of the show about youth, passion, and the struggles we encounter along the way. And the songs also aided plot and character development! Can you believe it? I have so much respect for the creators of the show, in that the music was never merely a silence-filler, but essential to the feel of the show and the communication between the characters. The music captured the feelings and emotional growth of the characters, in a way that OSTs rarely do. Bravo. After writing this, now I really want to re-watch this gem of a drama.

Shut Up Flower Boy Band :D
SHFBB was the first drama of 2012 that I fell in love with--everything from the cast, acting, storyline, direction, cinematography and music. It's the whole package and you can't help but fall in love with this wonderful drama. Oh! How depressed I was when it ended! It portrays the angst of youth so perfectly. The big wide unknown, the uncertainty that hangs around our characters head and how they deal with the situations seems so real like as if it was happening to someone around me. I can totally picture this happening in real time to someone right at this moment. This is one of the big draws for me- how perfectly the director has managed to capture the feeling of youth, the angst, the feeling of powerlessness but also the optimism of how we can still charge forward if we have people we care about around us: in general, the outlook of a 17/18 year old looking out to this big scary world and trying to conquer it in his own terms a step at a time. Not only do we have empathy for the characters but it feels like at times we are looking at a small part of our own lives when we were at that age. The small moments are captured so wonderfully and enhanced even further by the musical score. Again bromance is a big part of this drama and I'm both envious of such pure friendship but at the same time want to protect it for them.
The angst and the overall feel of this drama is accentuated by the choice of music. Be it LeeMinki’s (in his awesome cameo) ‘Not in love’ version or Sung Joon’s ‘Jaywalking’ I am hooked into the OSTs. The first half of 2012 was spent with me listening to their music over and over again and I’m still going . I loved the characters actually sang their own songs and contributed towards making the OSTs and they are actually really good. SUFBB gave us our own dramaland’s rock band so how can we not love them. So, I would love to win for SUFBB.
P.S : this is the drama where I fell in love with Sung Joon 

<3 You've Fallen For Me OST<3

As a a supeeerr stressed out about to be a college student when this drama came out, I found Yonghwa's calming yet very lively voice to be just right. And thanks to this drama, I found a new love for Kang Minhyuk. The OST proved to be youthful with a little bit of fluff just like the drama. This is the perfect soundtrack to listen to on a bright extremely sunny (maybe too sunny that I'm about to melt) day, like today and I couldn't be more ecstatic of just the thought of possibly winning this amazing soundtrack. The songs in this soundtrack can definitely calm the atmosphere. And to Yonghwa: Yes, I've definitely fallen for your you and your sexy voice of yours! LOL!As I embark on my almost second year of college, having this soundtrack as part of my to "bring to my new apartment list" will definitely liven up the atmosphere and will help ease homesickness throughout my school year. With this CD, everyday will be a bliss!

p.s. I really have to thank kaedejun for recapping (even if not all ep) this drama) :)

and this gives me a great chance to say (or I guess in this case write) that I still the recaps on this site even if I am currently watching the drama b/c I love how the recappers take apart the symbolisms, metaphors, etc. of this drama and make it more meaningful to the audience than watching it alone.

I'd love to get Shinee's Sherlock. I've always wished to get a CD of my favorite group but didn't get a chance since there're no kpop shops where I live.
The songs are fresh and cool that makes you want to dance to it!
I read fanfics about them being the lead males and me the female lead.. it might seem ridiculous but dreaming is always free, right?
I'm looking foreword to Minho's drama specially when it's full of SM artists.

Thanks for giving such an opportunity to us.

K2H please!

Actually, this would be for my good friend Tian - who listens to the main song from K2H (and also Suddenly from City Hunter OST) on repeat on her free time. She's a dear friend of mine with a shy soft spoken personality, and such a big heart for her friends. Which is why it's hilarious and adorable whenever she expresses such fervor and breaks out of her shell for a KDrama.

Also, because this is from the JB crowd, I think it would be even more special for her to own it - as she's a silent lurker and a big fan of your commentary.

Oh KDrama OSTs, how you steal our hearts. sigh....

Re-living all the 'cry-'til-I-could-cry-no-more' scenes while out camping under a star-filled sky with no other sound heard except for the K2H OST playing in the background, awww! :P
Seriously, I'm going camping in 3wks, and I'll for sure have enough room in my backpack for the K2H OST.
So happy that girlfriday made the excellent choice!

SUFBB CD, please!

-SUFBB was my first (definitely not last!) K-drama, and opened my eyes to a world of great drama
-Watching the drama made me start studying Korean--if I had the CD I could learn more :)
-With a CD, I could make Wake Up into my phone's alarm ringtone, and I would never oversleep again (perhaps...)
-I lived for your recaps of the show, refreshing again and again. This CD would be a tangible reminder of the agony and ecstasy of following a K-drama.

Shut Up Flower Boy Band please :-)

This was one of the best kdramas my husband and I had enjoyed in a while (we rarely like the same dramas) and the music was great too! He keeps asking me to download the tracks but not many are available so we'd dearly love this CD :-) it's also my birthday on the 13th *hint hint*

On another note, thanks so much everyone for all the recaps. They are so good, full of information and analysis that, most times, I don't even bother to watch the episodes after I've read the recap! I came upon this site ever since the Coffee Prince craze in 2007 (has it been 5 years??) and I've been a huge fan ever since. I check the website every day and I even turned a friend onto it. It's so much work and I'm amazed everyone is still so passionate about it. Keep up the great work and thanks for feeding us all the great kpop news and recaps!

I would absolutely LOVE to have a copy of Shut Up: Flower Boy Band OST!

And why would I love to have my grubby hands on this CD? you ask. It's because of...

Everything.

Everything? Yup, everything. I loved the plot: how these boys with no direction in life still manage to pursue what they love and still be true to themselves and each other (Oh my gosh, the bromance is... <3 especially that scene where Hyun-soo's hand was bleeding and eating rahmyun ); the love line between Ye-rim and Hyun-soo (she's so straightforward with her feelings, it's the best and realistic!... and something I wish I could do); but I also found Ji-hyuk and Su-ah incredibly cute too; that pang I got in my heart when Ji-hyuk said that final line in the last episode; and the music!!! You can't forget the music! Yes! My absolute favorite is Ji-hyuk's "Today" (especially the version actually in the drama where he's singing to Su-ah on the phone because he gruffly told her that he was embarrassed to do it to her face but eventually ended up doing so) ah, I actually teared up (which sounds kind of silly); the realistic portrayal of angst, life, death (LEE MIN-KI NOOO), love, those things you feel when you're in the golden age of teenage-hood gah I've felt too many emotions when I watched this that it doesn't seem normal.

I never really have time to watch dramas nowadays because of school and now I'm taking summer school but I managed to pull out all the stops just for this one. This drama was small and it didn't gleam with the names of big big big Hallyu stars but compared to those, I could feel its heart nearly bursting at the seams. (and that's all that matters)

Anyway, I don't think I can win this OST especially with over 500 comments from other people begging for it but at least I got the chance to somewhat anonymous rave (I meant, rant) about how much I loved this drama.

So pretty please? :)

(And the fact that everyone was very pretty didn't hurt either.. Sung Joon ;))

I hear - Love is Crying - (translated)

"If only I took a step faster,
If only I took a step slower
Then we could’ve avoided our painful encounter
There’s no use even if I push you out, now I can’t let you go
Even if you want to cry, cry in my arms
Because I will die without you......"

And I relive Jae Ha's growth

I hear - Missing You Like Crazy -

"The person I miss like crazy
The words I want to hear from you like crazy
I love you, I love you - where are you?
The person I long for, who is deeply stuck in my heart..."

And I see Jae Ha' and Hang Ah's journey in my mind's eye.

I hear - First Love - Intro music and - the first 2 lines (translated)

"At first like a friend, then like a precious lover
From the time I put your heart into mine..."

And tears start forming as I remember Shi Kyung

The OST played as big a role as the drama unfolding. With a swell of the music you could sense the surge of emotion and sense of longing.

With every melodious phrase, you can see the love and the beginnings if understanding flowing between Jae Ha and Hang Ah.

With each soulful phrase, Jae Ha goes through his struggles of losing his hyung, being King, losing Hang Ah, his child, his need to live up to expectations, his desire to man up and to be worthy of Hang Ah.

And then comes the Princess' song - First Love . . . .

King Two Hearts - My Heart First Chose You.

[Thanks to all the translators from whom I borrowed translation of lyrics from]

I'd love to get my hands on shinee's sherlock so i can look at the photos in the jacket and pretend that Taemin is the leading girl in "to the beautiful you". SM totally shouldve casted Taemin in Sulli's role instead, (look at him! With the pocahontas hair!), and bring a new twist to the genre. A boy playing a girl pretending to be a boy? Imagine all the awesome and the 4th wall breaking meta that could be had. It'll be just like a fanfic! Except, yunno, taemin will actually be a real girl here.

P.S: im having trouble commenting. This is my fourth try and i really hope it will work this time. Is my comment seriously too short or is it being sarcastic?

Shut Up Flower Boy Band OST please~~~

At first I thought it just an ordinary drama and I didn't expect anything great from this drama. But then seeing their friendship is really touch my heart.

Their togetherness makes me jealous but then when I saw them fight each other I yelled at my laptop screen to stop the fight! haha..

And I want to keep memorize them with the awesome OST of them!

The King 2 Hearts OST!

The only drama that I followed from the first announcement of "The King", "King" and many changes of its title up to its end. I love learning about the history and culture of Korea that make me hook with the North and South issues. The love story that warms the whole drama and the action/angst that increase the tension compliment each other. The actors (besides the fact that I really LOVE Lee Seung Gi XD) are the best for the roles. The venue, the lights are simple amazing.. What bring them colors and life are the OST's that really defines each character's feelings and self, as well as the mood in the whole drama..I would love to have the TK2H OST, really do!!
--Thanks ^^

Let's go for the CHUNO cd!

Why?

Because if I win the OST, it will be a constant reminder of how I never had the guts to watch the finale, sad as that sounds.
I knew how Chuno was going to end and I just couldn't face it!

I prefer to remember the wonderful bromance between the three hotties.
I prefer to remember the sluicing off the sweat with buckets 'o tossed water, making those abs glisten and glow.
I prefer to remember that Lee Da-hae was awful in this and then redeemed herself in Ms. Ripley.

And I prefer to remember that above all, the music was totally EPIC!! Hearing parts of the OST just time-travels me right back there......

I would love to win Shut Up! Flower Boy Band OST, because it was one of my favorite dramas from the beginning of the year. Lee Min Ki's cameo was awesome and when he died I was so sad. It also had great acting from Sung Joon and I loved his style on the show and Infinite's L was in the drama so tha was another plus.

The King 2 Heart would be my choice above all. The drama show a great picture on Korea Royal Family and I'm unable to forget the scene where our Princess sing for her man. The song have stuck in my little brain here and now I can perfectly sing and remember all the lyrics. I believe the princess man in this drama would be the perfect guy for mostly women out there and people have been waiting for comparing to other drama Princess Man.

The soundtrack contain 85% of songs that I've been addicted. From SNSD Taeyeon, KWill, J-Min and etc. the production team have once again produce a great OST with heart touching lyrics.

King 2 Hearts OST. Each of the instrumental tracks and songs elevated the scenes and allowed me to really immerse into the character's emotions. I was listening to the OST weeks after the show was over. King 2 Hearts was one of my favorite surprises of the year.
