Park Shi-yeon joins the cast of Nice Guy

The upcoming not-a-nice-guy drama Nice Guy starring Song Joong-ki (Tree With Deep Roots) and Moon Chae-won (The Princess’s Man) has confirmed the lead casting and added Park Shi-yeon (Coffee House) to the cast as the woman who betrays the hero and puts him on the path to destructive revenge. Song Joong-ki as a lover scorned, hellbent on revenge? It’s so unexpected that I’m already intrigued.
Nice Guy is a melodrama from writer Lee Kyung-hee of I’m Sorry, I Love You and Will It Snow for Christmas, and will be directed by PD Kim Jin-won, who most recently did the drama special Ordinary Love (he was also an assistant director on Romance Town and other full-length dramas). I thought Ordinary Love looked great, even though the story left a lot to be desired, so I think he’ll do a good job with a moody melodrama.
Park Shi-yeon will play Song Joong-ki’s girlfriend who betrays him to serve her own ambition. And lest you think she’s the bad guy in all this, he decides to get his revenge by using a girl who’s lost her memory (Moon Chae-won) to get back at her. So, it’s a chain of betrayal? Are we going to like ANY of these people? I certainly hope so, because I’m gonna need to root for somebody up in here.
Nice Guy follows Gaksital on Wednesdays/Thursdays and premieres in August on KBS.

If I figured correctly Park Shi-yeon is about 6 1/2 years older than Song Joong-ki. She was born in March of 1979 and he was born in September of 1985. She turned 33 in March and he will be 27 in September.
I think Song Joong-ki will do an excellent job as a bad guy. He displayed skill as an actor in the few episodes of "Deep-Rooted Tree" that he appeared in.

The saguek drama based on QSD's Kim Chuchu was delayed because there would be ill-feelings if it directly followed Gwanggaeto the Great. Kim Chuchu is held in low regard as he used outside intervention to unite the 3 kingdoms.

Silla using Tang China to unite the 3 Kingdoms was the worst.
Not only loss of territory, but reduction of Korean ruler from Emperor to King and the rise and eventual heavy influence of (neo)Confucian scholars which was a big reason for Korea to be so militarily weak (as was Han China).

If I'm not mistaken, "Haeundae Lovers" is scheduled to air after "Big". Normally weekend dramas have about 50 episodes in it. Some can be 60 or 70 like "The Three Brothers", so the current drama has been for about 3 months now. It may end for another 3 months from now. BTW, I'm watching this melodrama even if I try not to watch them as they're too depressing. Especially the writer of this drama has written the works of "I'm Sorry, I Love You" and "A Love To Kill". However, it's Song Joong Ki's role I'm intrigued on how he can play a cold-hearted guy after his ex-girlfriend's betrayal on him.

Lol Park Shi Yeon reminds me of those really snooty girls I would encounter in art school. I guess she's another victim of chronic bitch-face. She looks much nicer when she smiles though! But from what I've seen her in, she's a pretty good actress.
But yeah, I feel like I will be rooting for no one... But I'm left wondering what exactly does she do to warrant him such revenge? Like, does she literally stab him in the back and leaves his body somewhere while she prances off with Mr. Whatever?

I have loved PSY ever since Coffee House, and will be so glad to see her again! But I admit I was hoping to see her lead in a comedy again, because that was the role that suited her best so far... and she was so adorable that I'm going to hate seeing her as an unlikable backstabber again. :-/

I was hoping too that her next role would be something other than a bitchy woman. I don't want to hate her because I loved her so much in Coffee House. She did a wonderful job at comedy, and should get more roles that show her in a positive light.

Yay for Moon Chae Won and Park Shi Yeon! These 2 are some of my favorite Korean actresses :) Not that big of a fan of Song Joong Ki but he was good in Tree With Deep Roots and he's cute :D

I second that. I ADORE MCW and for some reason I really like PSY even though I've only seen her in My Girl and she was bad/annoying in that. And SJK is so very cute. Although I can't imagine him being all vengeful and evil. But I can't wait to see this -- I think I will be rooting for Moon's character.

What's interesting to me here is that Park Si Yeon has only played lead roles in her dramas in the last few years and deservedly so...but I doubt MCW will be second to her after her successes last year so will she be secondary to MCW or do they both get equally billing???....i5 they do, thats totally something new for a Lee Kyung Hee drama

I thought so too especially when I read the part where one of the writer's previous works was MiSa. I remembered one of the production crew worked on both MiSa and Bad Guy (I looked into it because the endings for the two were quite similar). But it was the director not the writer. Maybe they are still contact and share ideas like what to name their dramas lols

was watching RM the other day and they commented that each of the 7 has a unique surname, so i just realised its probably a good thing SJK left cuz then Mung Jihyo doesn't have to share her surname (i know ridiculously random!)

But how random was it that SJK actually made a (kinda) appearance on the latest RM (Thailand) - but since he's not a RM anymore, it was beyond awkward......
I don't know how this sweet baby-face is going to come across as a revenge-driven dude. I just hope he doesn't do the revenge 'stuff' like a pouty 3 year old denied his cookie.
I just want to pinch those chipmunk cheeks of his!

Running Man has never been the same since his SJK's departure. I liked/enjoyed the Song/Song relationship, they made me smile. A few of the regulars just get on my nerves, which is why I watch so rarely now. Depends on the guest.

While I liked SJK and Lizzy, they really were a bit extraneous on RM and really aren't a part of all the backstabbing and infighting which makes RM what it is.
The RM cast as it is currently composed is just the right size.

I've been waiting for PSY come back (and now it's LSY) but like some have commented above, I wish she'd take a different role than annoying evil second female lead that nobody is going to root for.. I may say it too soon, but man, Idk, I want to watch PSY in sthing again. so yea, gonna just check it out to see.

I LOVE the writer. This is perfect.
I would REALLY, really have appreciated Choi Moon-seok directing this and think his work is beautiful, understated, detailed and intricate -- and perfectly synchronises with Lee Kyung-hee's writing, but ohwells. (Wonder what happened to Four Seasons, was meant to be their collaboration project even before WISFC?)
Though I do like that the Drama Special PDs are branching out and taking on primetime shows recently -- it's pretty cool.

Story sounds interesting I love dramas centred around revenge,betrayal etc. and I'm a huge fan of park si yeon after I saw her in coffee house,but I'm a tad disappointed with the male lead,he looks much younger than her let's hope this drama will be good <3

Haha this sounds interesting with so many betrayals. Hopefully he will fell in love with Moon Chae-won (although I never really recover to liking her since I watched her in "Shinning inheritance"). 2012 is definitely looking to be a good year for good shows!!

you still confuse why PSY can't get lead role here even she was leading in the last few years before..but you have to know something.,Lee Kyung Hee writer was someone melo lover..and she always choose the lead cast who can perfectly potray their character..And at this moment.,no actress is better than MCW in potray emotion,heartbreaking facial expression.,natural tearsjerking scene and others abilities...LKH choose MCW absolutely the best decision in Nice Guy because this drama type was sad love story..

my heart breaks two times this year just for koream dramas. First, there are lot of comments in korean drama BIG about fans love suzy more than lee min jung. which she is my first actresses that introduce me to k-drama. then here, i love park shi yeon after coffee house, and i hope to see her in a lead role, but she came here to be the second female role in Nice Guy, which is breaks my heart, because i also love moon chae won to death, and i don't want to see them together here, because i perhap would root for moon chae won, and that hurts my heart too.

SJK & PSY are both so good looking...am looking forward to see them together on screen. Both are good actors I enjoy watching. I like the sexiness of PSY & I look forward to SJK's spunk for his revenge. Can't see much age difference. Beeing good actors they will compliment each other with their good looks & talent. A good match...for revenge.

The first 10 episodes of "Will It Snow for Christmas" is a masterpiece tearjerker. That drama would be excellent if it ended at episode 10. This writer should avoid the same mistake but anyway I love her.

I definitely have to check this one out. I'm a sucker for revenge dramas and really anticipating SJK's performance as a guy out for revenge. Something really different that his previous dramas. Not really a fan of PSY actually, but since she is second lead, it doesn't bother me much.
