Lee Min-ho on the set of Faith

You know, my great love for Lee Min-ho notwithstanding, I wasn’t entirely sure he’d be the best representative for Mane of Glory-hood, even though he’s rocked some unconventional hairstyles in the past. But I needn’t have worried, because these latest photos have been released from the set of Faith, his upcoming fusion medical sageuk drama, and he’s looking well at ease with his head of pretty, pretty hair. See how it falls in wavelets, every strand in place to look effortlessly perfect?

(As far as I’m concerned, nobody can top Jung Il-woo’s mane o’ glory, mostly ’cause his was genuine and a wig just can’t compete. Although I’d argue Kim Bum’s Padam hair comes close. And wouldn’tcha know, the three of them just happen to be super-tight BFFs? Maybe they’ve got some sort of hair-secret-keeping requirement to be friends. Perhaps accompanied by secret handshake, only it’s a secret hairflip instead. How much do I wish this were true?)

In Faith, Lee Min-ho stars as a Goryeo-era bodyguard to the king. He’s described as smart, naive, and also a bit quirky, which is a mix of traits I’m already liking. Let’s see how the simple warrior fares against the 21st-century plastic surgeon (Kim Hee-sun) who gets kidnapped and brought 700 years in the past (she’s taken for her healing skills), since they’ll clash for a while before falling in love. The first several photos on this page were taken earlier this month in southern Kyunggi province at the Haeyang drama set.

I know we’ve pretty much maxed out on time-traveling fusion sageuks, and I could certainly go a long while before seeing another one. BUT! Faith has long been on my radar because of its production pedigree: Song Jin-ah wrote one of my favorites, Story of a Man (a taut, suspenseful thriller with caper elements), as well as Legend (epic fusion historical) and Sandglass (epic, period), while PD Kim Jong-hak directed Legend and Sandglass.

This drama has been most closely compared to Dr. Jin for its medical-sageuk similarities (and Jin sued for it), but I’m thinking it’ll be miles apart in execution. Dr. Jin is really a failure of directing, because even when the acting and writing are doing their best, the ham-handed direction drags everything down into a muddle of uneven tone, strange editing cuts, and inappropriate musical cues. With Faith, I have a lot more, well, faith that execution will meet a baseline level of competence. And probably far exceed it. *knocks wood*

Faith will be a Monday-Tuesday series on SBS adn premieres in August.

I'm here in too!

I've been imagining LMH in a sageuk setting for quite sometime now and I am also wondering if he will look as HOT in those historical costumes.

AND Deym, he is such a hottie! When you are this good looking, hairstyle be damn. FORTUNATELY, he was able to pull it off.

I can't wait for this one. I'm also watching Dr. Jin and I hope Faith will not suffer the same flak when it comes to directing, editing, musical scoring, etc. The concept and story is interesting, I just can't help but roll my eyes in some of the scenes.

thanks Java!

You know, he's a pretty guy. Ridiculously pretty. Utterly pretty. But the turn off for me is that he's not manly pretty. So best of luck to him, and have fun beating the other fangirls off with a stick javabeans but I gladly remove myself from the horde.

I look forward to seeing what this version of the time-travel shows will be like.

10 millions to go
His agency stated that he worth 10 million fans (meibo+twitter+facebook)
Even I'm one of those 10 millions who pressed the buttons Like or Follow I admit that Lee Min Ho looks ok, but isn't a turn on for me.

However I liked his projects - he picks projects with stories that I like or I find them interesting even when everyone else thinks that story is a flop (Personal taste - with the same PD that directs Dr Jin now)

pretty or not, Lee has compelling screen presence and charisma to hold viewers' attention. I think that his height works to his benefit (making him more manly so to speak). He is getting better and better in every project in terms of acting.

Despite the disappointing writing, I did enjoy Personal Taste primarily due to its cast.

O__O Are there other people out there who thinks lmh is girly pretty?? I've never ever thought of him as being girly-pretty, he seems more many-pretty than girly pretty. When you say "ridiculously, utterly pretty" I think of someone like jaejoong or song joongki.

Required fields are marked *

Oh, I place Lee Min-ho in the Song Joong-ki camp for pretty boys. Lee Min-ho rocking skinny jeans makes it even harder for me to see him as manly. I mean, I will fan myself when he turns up the hotness, but I still think he's not my kind of manly. I reckon military duty might change that.

I find it weird I say this about Lee Min-ho when I covet Kang Dong-won (another pretty face) like crazy. Maybe the difference is that Kang Dong-won is older by more than a few years - which somewhat adds to the manly (er, mature?) factor. Ish. Hahaha. I'll just stop now. <3

Required fields are marked *

ooh, Kang Don Won - I love his eyes, and his beak-y nose. But his weird little chiclet teeth kind of scare me.

Lee Min Ho is not manly pretty yet. He's pretty-pretty, but the good thing about him is that there are moments when (like Jang Geun Suk, another insanely pretty guy) - his BEHAVIOR and voice are so manly that you forget how pretty he is.

He'll never be one of my top loves - suppose I shouldn't say that, that MS does work wonders - but I do enjoy watching him.

KDW is not pretty; he does not have good facial features at all (either for a male or female) and his features are a bit assymetrical.

Same goes for JGS (he is girly, tho).

0

Lee Min-ho is pretty (although not my type) but I think Kang Dong-won is in a completely other league. He's got a unique and very memorable face - there is just something that stands out about it. It's a face I would pick out in a crowd of a hundred people (if I had never seen a picture of him before).

I don't know how to explain it really. Kang Dong-won is the sort of person I would love to photograph/paint etc. because he's got that something unique, Lee Soo Hyuk is another one that falls into that category for me although he isn't as classically beautiful (and KDW still tops him). Still, very interesting face. Lee Joon-ki almost gets there but isn't quite as versatile photographically.

Song Joong-ki: pretty, but not a memorable face for me. Same with Jang Geun-sook - although I think he photographs well.

I'll stop before I get started with J actors! Feeling very superficial although I don't mean it in that way at all!

The term "pretty-boy" can be all encompassing.

Guys like Song Seung-hun and Oh Ji ho can be described as "pretty boys" even they have totally masculine facial features (well, except SSH's extra long lashes).

LMH has softer features but he still looks male; even SJK or Yoo Seung-ho look male (more boyish than manly, but they don't female).

Otoh, there are the androgynous type who just look weird, as well as those who really look like girls (well, not very attractive ones; never quite understood how they can be described as "pretty" since they don't pretty in the masculine or feminine sense).

I am talking about this Lee Min Ho (he who was born in 1987). Although I admit, I can't wait for Lee Min Ho (he who was born in 1993) to be 30+. I can totally see myself falling for Lee Min Ho (1993) - when he is of appropriate age. It's that crooked smile Lee Min Ho (1993) has that just makes me go "aw" right now for the cute, but would probably make me melt when he's old enough. XD

I've seen Lee Min Ho (1987) dramas and I think he's good and can be hot under the right circumstances, but like I said, he's just not my kind of hot or has the manly enough factor for me.

Required fields are marked *

LMH too skinny ? Mmmm....there's reports that he put on like 20 lbs after Boys Over Flowers. ( with tons of pics to prove it !). He's quite perfect (weight wise and look-wise in BOF) but his face looked bloated in City Hunter and even these poster shots of him in Faith...see his humoungous cheeks.

Nevertheless....even with the extraneous lbs, he's divine, heheh. But secretly wishing he had back that chiseled glowing looks of BOF. ( Agreed with someone who said he's the only decent thing in BOF)

He's taller than Lee Min Ho, has a golden ration body and this guy can KISSS!!

I can totally see how he's thought of as being charismatic (City Hunter) or stylish (BOF) and why some people may perceive him to be "hot" but I've always thought he looks a bit like an ahjumma. His face in repose, especially. An archetypal, fierce-faced, middle-aged Korean ahjumma. I've got 20 bucks that says he looks exactly like his mother.

Why everyone think he is pretty? I don't think so. He is not exactly a manly type as well. More like a boyish look. Maybe it's because he wear too much make up in city hunter (that lipgloss, haisshh) so some people assumes he looks pretty? I really think he isnot technically handsome either... But he is very charismatic and has good screen presense that makes him looks HOT on camera.

I agree. He's one of my biggest biases, but I don't necessarily think he's traditionally handsome. However, he oozes charisma and has been consistently solid in terms of his acting.. All which make him seem even hotter. His choice of projects don't hurt either. (Particularly City Hunter)

While LMH doesn't have the uber-masculine features of say, a Ji Jin-hee, Kim Sung soo or Oh Ji ho, he still is recognizably male and isn't androgynous (weird) looking or looking like one of those "girly girls" (ahem, Jang geun suk) - who look like a rather unattractive girl or a real effeminate male.

Ji Chang-wook ("Warrior Baek Dong-soo") has a similar type of look to LMH, but JCW facial features are a little bit better (he carries the sageuk mane a bit better as well).

As aside, the directing is not the only thing wrong w/ "Dr. Jin" - the writing/dialogue and some of the acting is downright laughable, but there are some decent parts and Lee Beom-soo and Lee So-yeon, not surprisingly, shine.

I actually really enjoy his "girly" fashion sense.
His slight androgyny doubles his appeal for me. Manly men are not my cup of tea at all.

He's like a male version of Yoon Eun-hye; beautiful instead of standard (boring) pretty, fantastic nose, teeth with personality, big cheeks, and that quaint and rare thing called charisma.

So your plan, dear devious Javabeans, are lost on me.

p.s.: Moon Jae Shin had the perfect mane-of-glory and the perfect man (Gu Yong Ha)

True, both of them don't look standard and that's what makes them beautiful. Especially with Yoon Eun Hye it's refreshing that she doesn't look plastic like many other actresses. I get far too distracted by fake noses and weird-looking jaws. I wish Koreans weren't so dead-set on making themselves look forgettable...

I like other actors better, but I still think Lee Min-Ho is charming. More than his looks, I love that he has this slightly geeky air (for lack of a better description), even in City Hunter.

Is it just me or does he look like he is 12 with that hair.

I actually am a LMH fan - he was my first drama crush in my first drama BOF and honestly the hair is a lot like a longer version of his Gyu Jun Pyo hair for reals. (It was a case of finding him attractive despite the hair - which I am sure will be the case for this drama as well).

I love LMH when I see his dramas but then once I'm off the drama bandwagon I still like him but not love him!! Though can't deny that he is a really good actor for this age.
PS:what was it about KHJ wining an award? Really?? For acting aswell?? Someone must be kidding. Regarding KHJ, I don't know much about him as a singer but as an actor he definately can't act!!! He's improved a lot since his BFF days but still a long way to go...

"As far as I’m concerned, nobody can top Jung Il-woo’s mane o’ glory, mostly ’cause his was genuine and a wig just can’t compete. Although I’d argue Kim Bum’s Padam hair comes close."

Wow, Jung Il-woo's looks much better with a mane of glory than not! Really suits him! (And Kim Bum's Padam hair was lovely as well. Or Kang Dong-won's in Duelist.)

But it might just be that I prefer slightly longer hair on guys to short crops. :-D

Lee Min Ho looks great in photos but doesn't do anything to me on camera. I just don't think he is a good actor - City Hunter- ugh- and I'm more into So Ji Sob, Song Seun Hun type of men as far as the looks without acting talent goes.

Having said that I completely agree that competent direction can make or break a film/drama and I'm looking forward to Faith simply on the account of crew :)

You know, I remember the day I read about BIG on Dramabeans. I remember looking at my calender and thinking, "JUNE?!? But that's like YEARS away!" Now that it's aired I again look at my calender. "The hell?? It's June?? No! Go back, make it go back! It can't be June, wasn't Christmas like, yesterday? I was barely studying for finals, where has my year gone- it's practically over! I still haven't even lazed around properly- I need to catch up on sleep!"

I read this now and for a third time (yes, i never look at that thing) check the calender. "August? Why so far away? It's barely June! That's like YEARS away." Then I think about classes and midterms and tuition and adulthood- sorry Minho, love ya and your thrilling hot pink pants, but I can wait for August.

Still need my fix, but that's what City Hunter on Netflix is for. See you in a few months! And because you're gonna make me wait so long, I expect a proper shower scene in the first few episodes, capisci?

Instead of a shower scene, I expect a HOT hot spring scene with him on a white piece of towel only. Who's with me on this one?

definitely looking forward to faith come august. w/ all this time traveling dramas this year and the comparison btwn faith and dr. jin, has it been mentioned how lmh goes to the future to bring back the plastic surgeon?

in rtp, the joseon 4 was sent to the future to figure out the mystery of the princess' murder. in qim, boong-do was given a talisman whose supernatural powers transported him to 300yrs to the future. in dr. jin, he gets transported to the past bc of jar baby. so how does goryeo warrior gets his hands on the plastic surgeon to bring back 700yrs in the past?

Lee Min-HOT has way too many clothes on.

I never thought he'd pull off the sageuk long hair so well. UNF.

i want to get excited for this drama but ... i'm not the biggest kim hee sun fan.

and in defense of his prettiness, if there is such a pie chart for pretty boys of kdramaland - Lee Min Ho's share would probably be only 10%. kim bum 10%, jung il-woo 20%, jaejoong 20% jang geun suk's is 40%.

lee junki has served in the military so i believe he graduated from the pretty.

Oh it's my boyfriend!!!! He looks fabulous (of course)! It kills me to wish my summer away, but I can hardly wait for August. I have high hopes this drama will be good, but since it's Lee Min Ho I'm in not matter what. This is the one guy I will watch no matter what.

And as for the too pretty argument, to each their own. He's just perfect for me.

Come faster, August!
