Stills, stills, and more stills! With so many dramas getting ready to premiere, it’s like the promo parade everywhere I turn. Here’s our first look at the world of Time Slip Dr. Jin, post-time-slip, when Song Seung-heon goes from present-day brain surgeon to 1860s backhug-getting guy. Do you wanna be the one to tell him that you needn’t travel back in time a hundred and fifty years for one of those?
They sure look lovely though. Much more exciting than their modern-day counterparts. So while Song will be one character (the titular Doctor Jin, natch) running amok in the space-time continuum (because that’s what the cool kids are doin’ these days), Park Min-young is playing two different characters in each era — above is her Joseon-era doppelganger. Wait, does it count as two-timing if you date your girlfriend’s doppelganger? Survey says yes.
Then below are stills of Kim Jaejoong, warrior extraordinaire, and Lee Beom-soo, who’s playing an actual historical figure, Lee Ha-eung, a politician and painter, who was a member of the royal family. (The shots are of his character in disguise.) His previous character description must have been wrong, but that seems to be common where this drama is concerned. I’m just taking it all with a grain of salt, and perhaps when the show hits the air in two weeks, it’ll all make sense.
Or, it won’t, and I’ll send it back into its wormhole. Dr. Jin premieres May 26 on MBC.

What i notice is Jaejoong: Is it me or the man has lost a lot of weight? I know sageuk clothes make you appear slender but... Maybe the haircut?

It's in 1860's era, at the end of Joseon,they guns. SKKS had guns in it, one of the scene had Gu Yong Ha playing with a gun.

Uh-oh! If he looks slender with those layers of fabric, then JaeJoong must have lost a LOT of weight.
I worry about a stick-thin warrior. But if he has a gun and doesn't need to do sword-swinging in fights, then maybe he doesn't need the bulk. He only needs to assume a sideways stance to evade oncoming bullets - or swords swung from above. (Hmm.) Or even detection by a blurry-eyed enemy.
I take it back. Slender works!

I really hope this is as good as the Jdrama version...I watched the 1st ep and couldn't stop...it has drama, comedy, romance, technicalities all brilliantly rolled into one...I'm not worried abt PMY, but SSH...can he do 'ridiculous' as well as the Japanese counterpart??? ----praying---

Most Awesome Bromance Moment Involving Guns was in Episode 28 of WBDS, when the Bad Guys pulled out a crapload of rifles and aimed them at Dong-soo and Woon-ah:
Dong-soo: "It looks like we'll really die now."
Woon-ah: "Then we'll die together."
::insert heartbreaking sobs here::
Oh yeah, where was I? Yes, guns were introduced during the latter part of the Joseon Era. And I'm still looking forward to this show, if only to see some time-travelling Hand Towel Action. :P

There were crude hand-held cannons (iron barrels mounted in wooden stock) in the early 16th century in Korea. Arquebus (early match-lock musket) came into Korea during the Japanese invasion. The Japanese got arquebus from Portuguese in the early 16th century.

To add, the Koreans invented the first multi-missile launchers during the time of King Sejong (a Joseon King of the 15th Century). So guns and ammunition aren't odd things to the Joseon era.
But indeed, from the all the sageuks I've seen before, it's quite odd for me to see a gun-wielding Joseon-era warrior. I know it existed back then, I'm just not used to the image.

guns were in korea but during that time guns were inaccurate and thus seen as inferior to swords (and there were many great warriors during that time).

it is pretty silly. can't take it seriously when hand towel is supposedly "the best surgeon in the 21st century", maybe the best stiff would be more like it. and "must open my eyes as wide as possible" jaejoong makes me cringe, i'd take koide keisuke over him any day.

See...i am mexican and to me it looks exactly like the little baby jesus doll that is hidden inside the rosca bread during easter time. and then if you are the one that gets the baby jesus, then you have to throw the party with the tamales and atole.

I've mostly seen LBS in comedic roles set in modern times, but the one thing I have seen LBS where he is dressed in sageuk garb is the film "Forbidden Quest" with Han Suk-kyu.
The film topic is a bit risque (but they really don't show much of anything), but it is beautifully written and wondefully acted by HSK and LBS.
Really a gem of a film.

I hope I am not offending anyone by saying this, but I am actually quite worried about this drama. I love the Japanese version with its strong cast. I dont know how Mr. Wet Towel could hold up the role. He has a gigantic shoes to fill. The rest of the cast looks great tho (Lee Beom-Soo!!!!). I do hope Song Seung-heon will surprise me.

Don't worry too much about it. SSH has his amazing abs to fall back on if and when his acting fails to be up to snuff. He can just take off his shirt and we'll all be stricken with temporary amnesia and forget that the man is trying to act.
Kidding!! Sort of... But the man is gorgeous...
In any case, I'm in for the first couple of episodes at least, out of love for LBS. And we never know, SSH might just surprise us. We can all live in hope.

i don't know if the suits or not, but i rather like the old moustachy guy instead. (jaejoong seems more at home in modern-wear) and personally, from those pics, jaejoong seems to be channeling bad guy vibes...

Well, the Mangaka put it as a fetus for a reason. Though I haven't read the manga yet. The fetus shaped appeared in the JPN version as well. And it's one of the key pieces in the original story. So they're just going with the story.

I don't know why but the sudden influx of time travel dramas makes me laugh... I love that Korea does dramas the same way they do business. If you go there you'll see that where there's one coffee shop there is ten (all in the same spot). All restaurants in same spot, all clothing stores... It smart for business because if you need something like say a ladder you know where to go to find it. However, with dramas I am not sure it works the same. Because sometimes too much of one thing, just makes it old. I really hope this drama brings something unique to the table... (Other than an unsolved mystery from the past).

I think it will be one hot mess. The supporting characters are most likely going to steal the show.
The first pic reminds me of some kind of cheap romance novel and the title can be; the time slipping, cold yet genius neurosurgeon and moi!
I don’t doubt the supporting cast at all but the two leads……..I mean Ayase Haruka can be a hit or miss but as Saki she was definitely a hit. (and not to mention Miki Nakatani who was perfection as Nokaze)

And Park Min-young and Song Seung-heon make such a pretty couple. @.@ But seriously, the amount of time-travelling dramas atm is a little ridiculous. XD Two (QIHM and RTP) is good enough for me. :D

i saw the japanese version of this (both seasons) and i am REALLY excited for this one.
i'm kinda hoping it has more action than the japanese version.

My first work of his i watched was Giant so i never knew how hilarious the guy is till History of the Salaryman, then lately av been watching lots of his movies and the dude is funny as hell. I dont care if hes not playing funny here i just love him...shame abt that ring on his finger he he!

I recommend checking out LBS in the film "Forbidden Quest" with Han Suk-kyu.
The film topic is a bit risque, but it is beautifully written and wondefully acted by HSK and LBS.
It's not a comedy, but there is humor in the film (and much better done than most comedies I might add).

I watched Protect the Boss as well. And although I liked the drama, to me JJ's performance was just so so as well. It wasn't bad, but when seen beside Ji Sung and Choi Kang Hee, I still found it lacking. But maybe that's an unfair comparison. On the upside, he is pretty and like Carole, I hope he does even better this time.

i have watched the japanese version Jin & Jin 2. I wonder the character of park min young will be different with the original one. That is because i have watch the teaser n it looked like she will become someone from the future(same with song seung hyun) n become the doppleganger for the past as assistant doctor for song seung hyun. What makes different is the original one, Miki(lover for Jin from future) will has a doppleganger for the past but at this time she became famous prostitute in Edo!Then I saw another female that will act as gisaeng for the korean version. I think the writer to put more romance compared to japanese one that's why they exchange the character's role(i'm so sad because in japanese Saki cannot have love from Jin). For jaejoong, I don't know whether the writer also change for another character because the the 2nd guy in japanese drama is Saki's brother so I think he will play that somekind that role.I hope this korean version will be better n good than japanese one because japanese one was already amazing!
