Javabeans did you saw "Skip beat" with Donghae and Siwon? Donghae was quite good there so maybe don't give up this drama:)

I'm not sure I'm buying what this show is trying to sell but I have enough fondness for Yoon Seung Ah to consider this(depending on the trailer).

Everytime an actor/celebrity I like appears on cable, I get super scared. It's hard enough as it is in the big stations but doing cable when you are new and all...

I love Donghae but I wish he didn't. It doesn't sound very promising either... I mean the plot.

Though I am an ELF, I agree that Donghae's acting is well ... not really good. Not a fan of Yoon Seung Ah either but I guess I will watch this show for Choi Jin Hyuk who stole my heart after I Need Romance ... and to think that I watched Romance because of Kim Jeong Hoon but ended up wanting the main lead to end up with Choi Jin Hyuk .

My first reaction upon reading the title was "DONGHAE!!!"

And after reading the post, "OMG!!!!!!!!!! Choi Jin Hyuk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"What!? Donghae leads over Jin Hyuk? Noooooooooooo..."

I like Donghae, but I think my brain (and heart) will be complaining when I watch him and Jin Hyuk on the same screen. Jin Hyuk can do much better......What a waste.

I hope Choi Jin-hyuk will have a chance show his skills (and whatever he chooses to show ;P)

What? Why is Choi Jin Hyuk not the lead? Channel A Fail. I want him to get the girl. Gosh, I wanted him to be the main character in I Need Romance 2. Neither of these things is happening... :'(

I've been waiting for Yoon Seung ah to get a lead role, so I'll definitely check this out. Hopefully it won't be as cliche as it sounds (or at least does something different with the cliches).

Wait what? So moon chaewon was also bad in daddy's girl? I never watched that drama but I did watch the princess' man and loved her from then.

Choi Jin-hyuk was good in I Need Romance and a lot of people ended up rooting for him. *Disappointment*
I saw Donghae only in Skip-Beat. Let's be honest: He had the first 2 episodes where he appeared a lot (stiff to me) and the others you had to search for the 30 seconds of screen he had. It was a scam ladies...

I saw Donghae's name so I had to read right? Yessss I did but when I saw Jin Hyuk's name? I was doing cartwheels!! I really hope this drama does good because it'll just be a waste for Jin Hyuk

I want to see Yoon Seung Ah as a lead, I'm a fans of Donghae too. But they are being paired in a drama is not good idea. I'd love to see Yoon Seung Ah with Song Jae Rim instead. *grin*

I was hopin that he won't be the male lead:( as much as I love donghae, he's better at singing and dancing. I don't want this show to be like Athena which siwon was the lead. Idols usually spoil the whole show. The only exception will be jj and yoochun though.

I think the drama will be cute, but considering Channel A's past dramas, it will most likely be bad. I adore DongHae because he always gives off a sweet vibe, but him over Choi Jin Hyuk as the lead? Also, CJH, why you pick bad projects? This drama sounds like it won't do anything for CJH's career, and he's a second lead. The drama sounds mediocre already, but I will watch it for DongHae and hopefully, some cute scenes and yummy bbang.

Oh well, not that I'm too excited just because it's Donghae...but well, we shall see... (LOL, I typed "sea", XD)
Haven't watched "Skip Beat" actually (to gauge SiHae's acting, but I know their voices there were dubbed XP) since I have to find a decent file to match with WITHS2's subs, so yeah...

I find his acting in Skip Beat pretty good. I mean, he acts better than Siwon. Hahahaha. No offense meant.

OMG, JB, if you're a fan of Choi Jin Hyuk you have to watch the Strong Heart episode he appears in. He shares a really heartbreaking story about his relationship with an older woman. He fell in love with her at first sight, impressed by her chic confidence, her ""도도함," if you will. She, however, wasn't interested in dating, having just been in a failed relationship. So he stayed by her side constantly and did his best to convince her he could be a reliable, dependable boyfriend, secretly working several part-time jobs, lying about his age, etc. They eventually went out, and she eventually found out about his real age. At that point she wanted to break up with him because she was at the age where she needed to prepare for marriage. He, however, convinced her yet again that he was serious about this relationship. In the end, though, he felt that he was too lacking, and that he was holding her back from a better future (this was all pre-debut), so he decided to break up with her. This of course, was pretty devastating for the girl, and despite her pride, she held onto him, calling him numerous times to take her back. He, however, decided to stay firm, though he was inwardly struggling with his decision. She drunk dials him one last time, and he turns her away. Later, he receives a call asking if he knows the girl. He says yes, and is told that he was the last person the girl called before dying. Yeah. Pretty depressing. So it's no wonder that Choi Jin Hyuk said he suffered from depression for several years and was torn with guilt by her death. He concludes by saying that he's much better now, though by telling this story he probably ruined all of his chances of getting married...er, lol? He still needs to work on his humor. But yeah, I always felt that he had this really grave, serious expression most of the time and his story pretty much explains why.

I'm Donghae biased, so I will not lie and say that I'm excited for this drama. But I don't have high hopes for it only because it'll be on Channel A. That much said, I think Donghae has a lot of potential as an actor. I don't think he was awful in IODG, that role was a good supporting role without much demand in the acting department. He had some moments, but for the most part, he did alright.

I would say Donghae was probably much better in the Suju movie, Attack of the Pinup Boys. He showed flashes of promise and potential.

I watched Skip Beat this winter and while Donghae didn't have as much screen time and his voice was dubbed over, his acting improved a lot over IODG. It could be because he was playing a character that is vastly different than his own character, so he could separate the two more easily, but Donghae's acting (and looks) is probably why there are people who actually ship Sho/Kyoko now. His chemistry with Ivy Chen was pretty great.

And I'm excited that Choi Jin Hyuk is in this. He and Donghae are both Mokpo boys so they have a bromance going on. Love it. They bonded in IODG and the scriptwriter for this new drama also wrote IODG (another reason why I don't have high hopes for it) so that's my guess as to why Choi Jin Hyuk is going to appear in this.

I'll probably watch this for CJH and Hae.

Well ... I do like my clichees, its a good way to lay back after a good day of real life time. If at least half the acting is good I do not mind spending an hour to watch this. At least for curiosity if not anything else. :P .... and I am curious to see YSA in her first lead role. :D

Choi jin hyuk was awesome in I need romance....I agree with you this guy gets better with every project he does and a second lead role seem like a backward step.

WHY WHY WHY!? Why Choi Jin Hyuk is not the male lead? I mean seriously... My daughter is flower does not have bad ratings at all and Jin Se Yeon from that drama is now leading in bridal mask but CJH ends up as 2nd male lead in a cable drama? WTH is CJH's reps thinking?

Sorry, no offense to Donghae.. it's just that DH needs more experience to be the lead, he needs more refinement to be able to deliver as the male lead.

Its good that Channel A is not giving up drama production altogether. donghae's acting , uhm not really good . He did better in Skip Beat bec. He was styled better than Siwon and had a more colorful character which is an easier sell (and easier to act) than Siwon's restricted and controlled character.

Donghae's char. Here is a bit more challenging than what he had to do in the past so he can't be the cute colorful Donghae everyone is used to seeing in his dramas. He probably got the lead over Choi bec of SME and Choi only took the project and second lead as favor to the writer n he is close friends with Hae.

SME is really trying and selling their hardest for Donghae and launch a credible solo career (the only SJ member w/o a specific skill like mcing like Leeteuk or acting/modelling like Siwon associated with him) so they are probably hoping with good ratings Donghae can get offered roles in the future on his own.

In your main review of It's Okay, Daddy's Girl you weren't that harsh about Donghae's acting. Was he great in that drama? No, but then again, like you said, everyone except maybe the father and Choi Jinhyuk, were pretty bad in it, but I don't think Donghae's acting was shudder worthy, nor was it terrible. He obviously benefited from playing a "good guy" type character that didn't demand heavy lifting in the acting department, but still, isn't it a bit of an overkill exaggeration to call his acting terrible and shudder worthy? Really?

For his first "official" debut acting in a drama, he was a secondary character and fulfilled his role. Idk that his acting warrants being called shudder-worthy.

I will watch this for Donghae. Skip Beat is the only drama I watched of him and he was great. I loved the way he emoted with his eyes. A stillness would fall over him and he would get all quiet and intense in his emotional scenes with Ivy Chen's Gong Xi. Siwon was very awkward in some scenes but he was gorgeous sometimes. He is not a natural actor and needs a good director. But Donghae has potential.

I don't think Donghae is a bad actor so I am happy to see him act, if this is what he likes.
But the title of the series?! What 's with this silly/crazy/complicated title?

lol like everyone else said, he was surprisingly good in Skip Beat. Maybe he fit's taiwanese acting better or he just grew as an actor. Anyway we will see if he will be okay or horrible. Either way I'm going to watch it because I lub Donghae 8D

I don't understand why Dong hae is getting the lead role when he's obviously weak in acting and not experienced enough to carry the drama as a lead. I will probably pass this one. Hopefully the trailer can change my mind.

Dongae's not bad. Not bad at all actually, His character in Skip Beat made me want to punch him a few times, and well, if the sweet lovable guy as he seems to be, can make you do that, he's got some potential. SO yea, this drama might turn out well.:) I really hope you guys give it a chances, Javabeans.=)

Through "It's Alright, Daddy's Little Girls," I became a huge fan of both Lee Donghae and Choi Jin Hyuk. They played brothers in that drama and I'm hoping to see them play similar roles in this drama too. It's a shame that drama was so written poorly, but they worked with what they had, and it really did feel like they were brothers.

I can't wait to see this drama because of them. I've never heard of the girl actress before, because I don't usually watch a lot of k-dramas.

But I did watch Skip Beat and Donghae improved a lot. Even though he only appeared a lot in episode 1-2, 6, and 10, and appeared briefly in the rest of the 14 episodes, not to mention he was dubbed over, I still would recommend dramabeans to watch it. The drama starts a bit slow, but it really picks up around episode 6. The behind the scenes are also worth watching for because you see them speaking in Korean for their lines and for the most part, Donghae was pretty good.

Poor bby was even crying on his last day of filming. It's really touching, watch the drama + the behind the scenes filming if you have a chance ^^ Plus, Ivy Chen is AMAZING. She really was the heart and soul of Skip Beat.

Really? You guys wanted to punch Donghae's character in Skip Beat? I've seen Skip Beat too but didn't understand a thing (don't have time to watch subbed version) so I just basically drooled in front of the TV whenever he's on screen. I say, he was pretty good in Skip Beat. Donghae really have amazingly expressive eyes (like a kid, you know). I suppose in IODG (haven't seen it), being Donghae's first TV drama, he was nervous. My poor baby is a wreck when nervous. And seriously awkward... Anyway, experience is always a good thing. He will definitely improve more, I think. And even though he might be doing this drama as a favor for a friend, he's really working hard on his role. He tweeted months ago some cake he baked. For this drama, I suppose...

so i'm watching this drama right now (subbed on hulu :), and... well...
it's probably the fluffiest, most brainless thing i've ever watched. but it is very pretty and does have a lot of charm. sort of like a fantasy land, like disneyworld, or something.
i'm only on episode 3, but some initial thoughts:
the editing on this is kinda odd, and the pacing/reveals are even weirder.
choi jin hyuk must've missed the memo on the cold part, but he's doing a crack-tastic job of being a goofy, romantically innocent, absolutely adorable gyopo. he's like a little puppy, like actually. you know, the cute one who just wants to please everyone. (and his sister is a manic, crack-tastic mess who calls him hyung. what's not to love?)
dong hae isn't awful, but he overacts a bit. also, his character is supposed to have gone to jail, but he lacks that edge. i guess it would sorta be out of place in such a fluffy cotton-candy series, but still.... anyway, he reminds me of the puppy that's a little more rascally than his other littermates, but is still adorably well-behaved, for the most part (his grandpa, on the other hand, amazing. but why wouldn't he be? he's played by mother-effin park geun hyung.)
yoon seung ah is... just ok. a little schizo/mood-swingy, and over acts a bit too, but she's cute and charming, and she's not as much of a pushover as i thought she was going to be (and her aunt, the inimitable yang hee kyung, is amazing.)
the 4th member of the love polygon: wholly unnecessary. why is this character even a thing?
in short: thus far, it is like a very likable, fluffy, marathon-able offering. not super deep in the brains, good-acting, or wit department, but it's got charisma and pretty in spades. so even though i'd normally dislike something like this, it somehow hits that one spot, you know, the one that wants to eat all of the rainbow-laced sugar-crack candy.
