Arang and the Magistrate adds to its cast

Fusion ghost-mystery drama Arang and the Magistrate has added a few more names to its cast list as it gears up to begin shooting later this month. The drama stars Shin Mina as Arang, the woman who is murdered and takes to “haunting” the local magistrates in an effort to win justice for herself, until the newest one finally listens to her (Lee Jun-ki). To fulfill the fantasy-romance quotient, the two leads somehow have a romantic development despite the fact that, you know, she’s dead and he’s not.

Supporting leads include Yeon Woo-jin as a villain and Hwang Bora as Arang’s shaman sidekick. Adding to the paranormal element, Han Jung-soo (Chuno, Poseidon) plays another mystical figure as a “guardian angel” who guides the spirits of the deceased to the afterlife and is the right-hand man of the King of the Underworld. But he’s also got one foot aboveground, as the “most trusted friend of the King of Heaven.” Hm. Interesting duality, although perhaps in this mythology Hades and Heaven aren’t necessarily at odds.

Then there’s Kwon Oh-joong (The Duo, Gourmet), who plays Lee Jun-ki’s manservant Dol-swe. He’s a simple-minded fellow, strong as an ox and loyal to the utmost. That makes him a protective friend and hyung figure to our magistrate, ready at the drop of a hat to charge in to keep him from harm. Aw. Already I feel the warm fuzzies of bromantic potential.

Yoo Seung-ho isn’t a fixed regular in the cast, but he’ll have a special guest role playing a king, sort of. He’s the above-mentioned King of Heaven, aka the supreme ruler of the skies, and while this one’s not a historical ruler I’m still amazed that it’ll be Yoo Seung-ho’s fourth king role when he’s only 18 years old. The king is described as having a carefree personality, and he’ll offer Arang and the magistrate an important clue. Yo, he’s the almightiest of the almighties; you’d think he could give more than just a clue. But then I supposed we’d have no drama.

The drama plans to air on MBC on Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning in late July.

me not pass n.n i like supernatural dramas the best n.n my list of favorites is :49 days, secret garden, gumiho, vampire prosecutor, now queen in hyun; but my rule have its exceptions,i loveddd salaryman even without supernatural elements n.n

When Yoo Seung Ho comes of age, every male k-drama star who's about 4-10 years older than he ought to get a little nervous. Even Lee Min Ho. Yoo Seung Ho ought to give everyone a run for his money.

And to think he started out as the cute but infuriatingly bratty squirt whose ears I wanted to box for being such an ingrate to his saintly grandma in Way Home.

Actually think they have more to worry about from Song Joong-ki and Yeo Jin-goo.

SJK is better looking than YSH and both SJK and YJG are better actors than YSH (not that YSH isn't a pretty decent actor in his own right).

YSH tho, is one of those actors who looks better w/ the long sageuk hair than the short modern cuts.

Well, looking hot or not is purely a personal taste. So I guess it is no problem that I express a bit my taste. Regarding SJK, I do think he is a cute guy - for me, it is quite hard to find out which one is hotter, YSH or SJK. But as to YJG, well, I definitely vote for YSH. YJG is simply not my cup of tea - too tough or rough?

Looking "hot" may purely be due to personal taste, but up to a certain point, objectivity takes over from subjectivity when it comes to having good facial features.

Subjectively, I may have the preference for one K-actress over another, but I can still regard the other as being attractive objectively.

OK, this show just upped itself on my to-watch list (OR DIIIIEEE in regret) list.
Lee Jun-ki, AND General Choi AND pretty So Ji-sub-lite AND Kwon Oh-joong. Arghh!

Momosan may have had dibs on General Choi from way back then but Kwon Oh-joong is MINE! (I'm so random but... 'Tis those lips. Mmm.)

so it's a fusion saeguk = great visuals, a lee junki drama = lot of action and a fantasy/mystical story with ghosts, a hero who can see gosts since alwayse and "hot deities". what else do we need xD
