Kim Haneul starts filming Gentleman’s Dignity

Well now that the gentlemen have started to run about town as F44, it’s the heroine’s turn to release some stills. Here’s a look at Kim Haneul on the set of her new drama A Gentleman’s Dignity, due out in May.
Too bad she doesn’t have her posse yet, as the other three women have yet to be cast, but she’s begun her scenes on the job as a high school ethics teacher. Her character Yi-soo is bright and cheery, but also exacting and determined. That’s pretty much drama code for one half of a bickering duo, since we also know that Jang Dong-gun is playing the gruff hero. No surprise there. She’s also described as having a very clear and distinct speech pattern, which is almost more of a characteristic of the writer Kim Eun-sook (Secret Garden, Lovers in Paris) than anything, since her characters all speak with the rapid-fire precision of a switchblade.
The “charismatic and shrewd” Yi-soo will have her hands full with more than just the gentleman quartet, because she’s also got their high-school counterparts to deal with in the classroom. Troublemakers at work, troublemakers in her love life… girl can’t catch a break.
A Gentleman’s Dignity airs on weekends on SBS and premieres May 26.

I like Kim Ha Neul, but I am wary of Kim Eun Sook. I have a love-hate relationship with her dramas. The ahjusshi quartet already is a win for me though. Kim Min Jong and Lee Jong HOT! Jang Dong Gun is a plus, but I am not an avid fan of his. I hope their bromance rocks my world too.

Troublemakers everywhere. LOL! The more the merrier... It's the SeGa writer after all: I would be disappointed if the poor (winning) girl would not have 1 or 2 bad boys to make her life an obstacle course. :)
I also love the idea of ethics teacher. So many possibilities. I bet the students will take pleasure in demonstrating her than theory and practice are 2 different things...

I'm starting to really love her. I just watched Too Beautiful To Lie and I was laughing nonstop at her antics. So I'm all about this. I can't wait to watch this.

Don't watch You're My Pet.
I'm struggling to watch anything with Kim Haneul ever since (see my review. Or any other review - I haven't seen a positive one yet!)
I AM going to get over that fear because KHN surely deserves better, but save yourself the agony of that film!

It's hard to believe that it's been 2 years since KHN's last small screen appearance. She's smart keeping herself in the public eye with her variety appearances like 1N2D.
Interesting that her new role requires a staccato cadence in her speaking voice. Sounds rather like the razor-sharp dialogue exchanges in The Gilmore Girls. Maybe Amy Palladino is doing some side coaching with Kim Eun-sook?

The dialogue in TGG was a tiresome attempt at trying to be witty.
Shows like BtVS and Angel were so much better w/ the witty dialogue.

I totally don't know what to do with this drama...on the one hand, that ahjussi quartet is wonderful, its a Jang Dong Gun drama comeback and there's Kim Ha Neul to boot, and the HS kids sound fun too....on the other hand this is a Kim Eun Sook drama and she can either drive me nuts in a good way or a bad way....

Hmm. Don't hate me, KHN fans, but...
I'm willing to wait and see, but I can't help wishing for a more charismatic actress opposite JDG. I don't dislike KHN, but I just find her kind of dull. She's not a bad actress, and I liked her in Level 7 Civil Servant, but I don't think her acting is at the level of an A-lister. And it's not like she's super gorgeous, so that doesn't explain it either (or do I just not see it?). She's inoffensive, and seems like a nice person in real life, but I just find her so flat and lacking in charisma onscreen - I find it hard to connect with her emotionally, which might be why I enjoy her comedies more. And Kim Eun-sook's dramas rely a lot on the leads' charisma and chemistry, so it's a little worrying.
But hey, she might surprise me! You never know.

I do agree with you. I was kinda disappointed by her casting at first..but i'm not sure whether it's because of her or just the aftermath of You're My Pet...i'm giving myself another chance here coz i really love the other cast...believe it or not i've no opinion on JDG...but I do looove the other ahjussis!!!

I'm always kind of on the shelf about Kim Haneul. I know a lot of people rave about her and love her, but I guess I haven't found the RIGHT Kim Haneul show to watch yet. I guess the one movie of hers I watched in its entirety that I enjoyed and had me falling in love with her was My Tutor Friend. My Girlfriend is an Agent had me raising The People's Eyebrow out of amusement and, well, bemusement. Heh. She was fun and bubbly and all around endearing on 1N2D, but that only endeared her to me as a person not as an actress. I know Blind is where it's at, but darn, still haven't seen it. I'm sure she'll be awesome in this. I can't wait to see her whole posse, because I know I'm in this for the bromance, but the sisterhood is just as awesome when done right. Ya-Ya!

I am not an avid fan but I really liked her in Too Beautiful To Lie and Level 7 Civil Servant.. do remember that its harder to make people laugh than make them cry so give the girl her due 'coz she's labelled South Korea's rom-com queen!!

Too Beautiful To Lie! That's the other one I've seen her in. I knew I was forgetting something. That makes 2 of her movies that I liked. I've tried sitting through her dramas, but she just picks ones that I don't find interesting. I'm not saying she's bad *puts hands in the air and flashes a toothy grin as a sign of friendship* (like I said, I'm sure she'll be awesome here), I just haven't found a lot of her work that I could like - even of the ones that I have tried - and even a good actor/actress can seem pretty meh when working with a meh script.

MTF was so-so.
"Too Beautiful To Lie" is a lot funnier and KHN was in another film w/ KSW, "Almost Love", which had its moments (esp. the noraebang scene).

I left out number 2 because that's how most award ceremonies are done when there's a tie. Weird, I know.
