There was a scene in What Happened in Bali where HJW's character sits down to eat dinner with tears streaming down her face. She keeps eating and crying, eating and crying. I totally fell in love with her then. For some reason, it set her apart from other actresses in my eyes.

Later, she mentions that scene in an interview (I forget which); She, at first, didn't understand why her character would stuff her face when she's so upset. The PD explained the drive for survival and life (if I remember correctly) in this character, and she got it. And it really worked with her, that need to keep going, to survive.

There's a certain stubborn quality (in a good way) about her that I love, love, love!

Hwang Jung Min mentioned on Knee Drop Guru that when he wanted to start speaking standard Seoul dialect that he would listen to recordings of children because apparently children have the more accurate and clean(?) speech than adults. Maybe that's why Ha Ji Won studied elementary and middle school students for her North Korean accent?

I really like Ha Ji-won as an actress - always happy to watch something she's in because she's been awesome even in dramas that were not-that-great (Secret Garden sometimes just made absolutely NO sense at all) and picks interesting projects too (Duelist).

I never found her particularly pretty or beautiful, and I still don't. I do think she has a very particular and therefore very memorable face, easily distinguishable from many Korean actresses (too many are one like the other or fit into very generic beauty moulds).

I'm only getting a full sense of HJW's unique face in picture #3, the others look (beautiful as they are as pictures) rather styled. In fact, in the last pic, if someone didn't write HJW next to it, I wouldn't have necessarily picked out it was her.

Randomly wondering if it is possible at all to be an actor or actress (A-List I mean) nowadays anymore without doing any photoshoots or pictorial promotions. Not criticising or anything, just wondering if one can be in that profession just acting.

Well, I'll keep watching HJW's dramas + films, because I know she's awesome in them. Don't care how they dress her up and make her look, because I know she's going to deliver acting-wise.

Hmm, I must be in the minority here. I'm just not feeling this shoot (last picture aside - that is my personal favourite). Is it just me or does her leg/foot look so... plastic in the 2nd photo? (Not to mention I absolutely LOATHE those heels.) The woman is gorgeous enough as it is and can do without the Photoshop.

HJW is indeed my kind of girl... (the kind of girl i want to be that's what i mean.. sadly it doesnt work for me, lol)

she's fierce and badass... but she can also be sweet and adorable... i always picture her as the most hardworking yet the humblest... and with that face and body, her character just fits her to a tee... in my short and varied list of korean artists i've come to know via dramas and movies, she's the most well-rounded and the one i admire the most.... i'm proud to be her fan... <3 <3 <3
