Bridal Mask resumes shoots, releases stills

Although all filming halted on period action drama Bridal Mask (Gaksital) after a recent tragic bus crash that killed one extra and sent dozens of others to the hospital, shooting did resume on the KBS series last week, and here are the latest stills from the production.
They feature Joo-won in the lead role of a freedom-fighting hero, looking a lot more fierce and mature than I’ve gotten used to seeing him with his 1N2D gig, where he’s basically an overgrown boy with a penchant for aegyo. It’s funny how an actor can transform a dozen times in various roles and I’ll buy every change, but once you’ve gotten a glimpse at his supposed “real” side in a variety/reality capacity, it’s a lot more difficult seeing them as anything else. Uhm Tae-woong may get the bad guy and look like the hotshot in his roles, but there are only so many times you can see him trip over his own feet before that image collapses. And Joo-won may kick lots of ass as the bridal-mask-wearing, secret-identity-having hero, but I can’t pretend I won’t be mentally hearing his cutesy “-bbyong” tacked on to the ends of all his sentences.
The drama is set during the 1930s amid Korea’s fight for freedom from Japanese colonial rule; Joo-won’s character, a police officer, watches as his older brother (Shin Hyun-joon) is injured while participating in the independence movement. When his hyung is killed, he joins the fight himself and transforms into a nameless hero.
Bridal Mask (Gaksital) will be a Wednesday-Thursday drama, airing following Equator Man.

I'm just going with pretending he was (literally) beyond his time in his sense of fashion and if not for becoming a hero, he might have opened up his own retro salon.

This is gonna be one drama that cannot be sold to Japan. But I always like storylines that tackle difficult topics, will be catching it for sure.

ah yes, the Hotness Codex. Supposedly there's a bug in the program, but I think it starts a whole sequence running behind the scenes and somewhere, in a room filled with monitors in a far away land, a bunch of actors and idols are gathered together to squee over our naughtiness and, because they're men, compete over who gets how many mentions.

Hehe!! I can't agree with you more! I fell in love with his hotness in Baker King and was once again won over by his cool, calm persona in Ojakgyo Brothers...and now am looking forward this drama....all because of the hotness that is soooo coool... hahaha.. ;)

Korea in the sad 1930s and we're talking fashion and funky hair? Ever seen any photos of Koreans in the 1930s? On average they were about a foot shorter than Joo-won and they were not doing fashion or funky hair.

It always amazes me how a person can change their looks and appearance for a role. I'm not used to Joo Won's "real" life personality of 1N2D...lol...I'm too used to him "in role" that it's jarring for me to see him as something else besides "in role"...the same goes for Uhm Tae Woong. I'm not even surprised with him anymore. It's just waaaaaayyyy to hard for me to comprehend. >.<

After seeing his past roles, I still have a difficult time believing that's really him in 1N2D most of the time. LOL. But I guess that's a testament to his talent and how much he works on making his roles believable. :)
I wish there's an English translation of that graphic novel floating around on the internet somewhere. :D

I think they are many of them out there :-) I mean, actor playing badass on screen, but actually sweet outside the character they are playing. I saw Kim Seyeon did a gag on KBS World, Gag Show... Omi, I know she can play tough badass role but she can looks 'stupid' too.. I love her!
Both Joo Won and Uhm Tae Woong share the same traits but I guess Uhm Tae Woong the more dorky one. HAHA.
