Yoon Kye-sang goes dark for crime thriller Suspect
by javabeans
Yoon Kye-sang will soon be wrapping up his six-month-long gig playing the friendly neighborhood doctor on sitcom High Kick 3, which means he’ll soon be turning his attentions to new projects. Right now it looks like his next job may be a blockbuster movie — which is in the “we’re negotiating final details” stage, by all reports — titled Suspect. I’m going to take a wild leap here and guess he plays the suspect.
The plot of this action thriller centers around a North Korean defector who is wrongly accused of murder and sets out to catch the true culprit and clear his name. Sounds like The Fugitive: DMZ Style, though I’m seeing a few descriptions of “Korean Bourne series.” (That sounds great and all and I get why that’s a nice comparison to draw, but I’m just going to say that there is no Bourne anything without Matt Damon. Y’got that, Bourne Legacy?)
The project boasts a 10 billion won budget and comes from Seven Days writer-director Won Shin-yeon. Casting is under way for supporting roles, and filming begins in May.
This’ll be Yoon’s second time in a movie touching on the North-South divide, after his dark thriller Phungsan Dog (or Poongsan) last year, where he played an enigmatic runner who smuggled things — and people — across the border. It’s interesting how in recent years Yoon has been exploring completely opposing characters and moods in his film and television projects; he’s been doing intense dramatic stuff in movies (Phungsan Dog, Executioners) and going for gentle, inviting “hunnam” (warm man) roles in television (Best Love, High Kick 3). Except Road No. 1, but I say that drama doesn’t count. *Wipes from memory.* I look forward to seeing him go badass again for Suspect, although, really, how could you suspect a face like this?

I read the "Bourne" books several years before the movies. If I hadn't I probably would have loved the movies. As it is, sorry, but Matt Damon is in no way Jason Bourne.(and I like Matt Damon)
I'm going to go hide now before the pitchforks and torches are brought out. :)

I read and loved the books but I still like the movies even though they are very loosely based on the books.

He prolly wants to erase the image from our minds of him being a compulsive smiler who uses a thinky-binky.
That second picture reminds me of his role in Who Are You, in which he got to show some of his acting range. Maybe someday he'll play a badass spy who has a cover of being a total goofball.

I personally dig the dichotomy between the kinds of roles he's getting in the small and the big screens. It's a good kind of mind-fuckery and he doesn't have to worry about being typecasted!

Love that second pic. Love this actor.....he's really got a good range and apparently isn't afraid to take on really diverse roles. A sure sign of talent, wrapped in a cutie-pie package.

Its like he's trying to blow up a pineapple with his mind or use the force or even the shwarts. Ya know depending on preference.

Hahaha, that last one is funny.
I love it when jb and girlfriday spazz about movies that I know about - Bourne being one of them. You really can't have a Bourne movie without Matt Damon. It's like making a Rocky/Rambo movie without Stallone. XD

Whatever role he is doing is fine, as long as he finally gets the girl! Even High Kick writers still refuse to let him have a good love. Sigh.

I came here in search for more information regarding him since he was just been confirmed with Park Shin Hye in a short movie with the director Kim ji-woon. To be released in may this year. He seems to be a very interesting person. Looking forward to seeing him.
