Kim Sun-ah and Lee Jang-woo for I Do, I Do
by girlfriday
Kim Sun-ah has confirmed that she will be headlining upcoming MBC romantic-comedy drama I Do, I Do, which is great news for dramaland. The story seems tailor-made for her: top-dog female executive has a one-night stand with bright-eyed, bushy-tailed new hire, and she gets knocked up (because don’tcha know — that’s the only outcome of one-night stands in dramaland, SIGH) leading to an unlikely romance. Her not-quite-white-knight, noona-loving hero will be played by Lee Jang-woo (Man of Honor, We Got Married).
Considering that a substantial age gap is the point of this pairing, I can see the potential in casting Lee Jang-woo. He was pretty much the only not-entirely-crappy thing about Man of Honor, and he fits the man-boy profile to a tee. She’ll out-act him, but her character is designed to outshine him, which will help.
Kim Sun-ah will play Hwang Ji-an, a thirtysomething top shoe designer, who commands the attention of a room and always looks impeccable. At work, she’s basically described as The Devil Wears Prada‘s version of a boss, which means of course that her life will come crashing down to earth off her self-made pedestal, when she takes her first left turn from The Life Plan by sleeping with the rookie. The hero, Park Tae-kang, is a naive but ambitious new hire at the company, who’s got nothing but a high school diploma and a good work ethic to his name.
The hijinks should be a-plenty, since you’ve got so many reversals in one premise–age, power, gender. I’m really looking forward to Kim’s return to funny since last year’s Scent of a Woman, which sure, gave her a chance to stretch her weepy chops, but I think comedy is where she really shines. The drama’s goal is described as trying to break the drama stereotype that all thirtysomething women have screwy lives and need to be rescued by princes on white horses in order to be happy. YES PLEASE.
Directing is PD Kang Dae-sun (My Princess) and writing is Jo Jung-hwa. I Do, I Do is slated for a late-May premiere on MBC, following The King 2 Hearts.

I'm totally on board with this one. I can't imagine any other female leads who'd be a better fit. I'm not sure about Lee Jang Woo though coz I've never really seen any of his work yet. But I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that this would be another fun ride with Kim Sun-ah.

Lee Jang-woo sometimes remind me of Lee Dong Wook (who was Kim Sun Ah's co-star in last year's Scent of a Woman. haha)

Too much noona/boy toy relationships in Kdramas. Don't older Korean men have any sex life? We need a sexy Korean Lolita drama to spice up our lives. We can get someone older like Kim Seung Woo to sing the OST, "No More Perfume".

Two recent Korean shows using older man/ younger woman : Brain (the medical drama), and Take Care of us Captain. For different reasons, i didn't like any of them, but you can give it a try.
On the other side, i'm watching the Taiwanese drama Fondant Garden, and Kingone is very good in it as the male lead who's in control of the relationship with the younger woman. Not sure it's the main pairing though.
I believe that concept is just not for Korean dramas. It works better for American movies and shows (Richard Gere, Robert Redford etc...)

At last, a KSA rom-com - my #1 favourite K-actress in my favourite genre. I did not watch her last drama because I don't like to see KSA in a tear-jerker. I just can't associate her to that kind of genre after seeing her in MNIKSS.
Now we get to see the fashionable KSA, I am so looking forward to this! Let it be May now!!!
I wonder if samsooki will make an appearance again on this blog to recap or even just comment on this new KSA drama.

So love the actor, especially after watching him in "We got married" he knows how to push the envelope and I'm looking forward to the chemistry. I think he would surpass "Binnie", OMG did I say that with my loud voice, he a natural when it comes to "skin ship" like the actor who played in "Personal Taste" to bad his real life girlfriend is cold as ice, I can't see any warmth in none of her love scene before him, with him or after him....just pathetic.

Sweet, I too, think he's reminiscent of LDW since both their facial features are quite chiseled and defined. The age gap kind of through me off, but there are moments when Jangwoo can be quite manly. It'll be an interesting match since he and KSA contrasts in many diff. aspects. The idea is great, but office romance can easily turned boring if there aren't other elements thrown into the setting.
On a diff. note, I'm glad his career seemed to have launched off ever since WGM. I love that he's unashamed of his manly needs, hehe. Since Eunjung seemed to be focusing on her acting career and T-ara as well, I don't feel bad that the couple is coming to an end. I hope the Woojung couple will someday work on an acting project together, they've got chemistry. They might not be as "racy" as Adam or Khuntoria, but I like that they're more like an old married couple.

hmmmmmmmmmmm why am I so excited with this!!!!!! am totally buying LJW compared to the last actor rumored to be the male main lead...I was hoping for SJK tho but LJW is such a hottie too and IMHO, can really act as well...so am more excited with this than say, Love Rain... and I simply adore KSA and would love to see her as a successful well-dressed executive...kinda tired seeing her looking ordinary and frumpy when she can look fabulous like her magazine shots!!!!! :) :) :)

She's so lucky playing with young actors whom dyingly loves her.
SOW I couldn't watch it till the end of the episode cause of LDW madly in love with her TT.TT, but this one, I think I can. :D:D

Hm, I'm really excited about KSA doing a noona-dongsaeng romcom, because I think the role suits her to a T, but I wasn't a big fan of the directing in My Princess, though I seem to be the only one. To be fair, it was more the editing than the directing, which was nauseatingly fast in otherwise static conversation scenes. Seriously, am I the only one that thought this? I sincerely hope the editor will be different here...

You are right.
The editor got cut happy in a couple episodes.
They were trying to show us close-up reactions from every character to every thing said.
It was unnecessary and took me out of the story.
Somewhere between the long 30 second stares and flash cuts is how things should be.

okay guys, you have now got me excited. I LOVE KSA. I even watched When It's At Night several times just to see her. However, I was not excited by the storyline here. I like the whole younger man deal, but it seemed another "now I am going to be dumb because I am pregnant" storyline. Really?!?! I was not dumb only tired when I was pregnant. In fact, I wrote half of my dissertation while pregnant. What it did was make me not put up with the crap that I used to put up with before; a person is too tired and hungry when pregnant for inane pleasantries (plus random people trying to rub your stomach as if you are a budda statue is enough to manke anyone scream). However, reading all of these posts and seeing those links to a new noon crush by Mystisith and Canxi has me all fired up and ready. But please, drama gods. Just because she makes one mistake, don't make her into a stupid pregant woman!

OH.MY.FREAKIN'.GOSH.
Hottest pairing... of the season? -Nods- Yes, I agree. GAH! Kim's so lucky, seriously; first Binnie, next Cha Seung-Won (Who I admit isn't of my preferred taste, but still; he's kinda hot right?) then LDW (Omo! Lee Dong-Wook FTW <3) And now Lee Jang-Woo? Let's face it, Kim Sun-Ah you totally did something super amazingly great in your life that got you this lucky. Am I right?
Oh, no. Wait. You're a bloody brilliant actor, that's how you got there; oh I understand now. Hee.
Can't wait for this <3

They are the lucky ones here, not Kim Suna. They are the oneswho get the amazing unique chance to play with an absolut amazing gorgeous actress that is Kim Sun Ah.Kim Suna is a true queen of dramas.
And yes, there is something special that Kim Suna did,and that is being a great talented true actress and human being as well.

In my opinion, those actors that you`ve mentioned are so lucky to worked with a fine actress, whom imparted her experience in acting in all her leading men and she has this magic touch, that all the actors, seems to be so gorgeous and hot when they are beside her. For instance, CHW, I watched his movie`s before he became KSA leading man, but I didn`t realized that his a very attractive man and that I will love him as much as I do now.

you're right, i didn't give CSW a second look before he acted in CH and only looked at LDW before because he was so handsome...I truly believe she brings out the best in her co-stars. She may not admit it, being the humble person that she is, but we see it. No matter how young or good looking an actor is who is paired with KSA, I never once have or will doubt they THEY are the ones who are lucky to work with her!!

It's good to have some kind of sceptism for a drama...coz sometimes we have all the right actors in the wrong drama...or all the right chemistry for the wrong script...I just hope the flaws will be minimal enough not to affect the success of this drama!
