Song Seung-heon becomes time-traveling Dr. Jin
by javabeans
Looks like Song Seung-heon is heading to cable with all the other big stars, with the upcoming — get this — fantasy-medical-fusion-sageuk, time-traveling, manga-adapted series titled Time Slip Dr. Jin. Phew, that’s a mouthful.
Time Slip Dr. Jin follows an accomplished doctor, Jin Hyuk, who travels back 150 years to the later Joseon era. He comes from a long line of doctors and is a genius himself, with the distinction of being the youngest ever to be admitted to medical school, the youngest to graduate at the top of his class, and the youngest neuroseurgeon. Ah, so Song Seung-heon’s getting his Brain after all.
Because of his own brilliance, however, Dr. Jin is unable to tolerate mistakes in others, and therefore possesses a cold, severe personality. So, not Dr. Funpants then. Basically he’s Doogie, but with the bedside manner of House.
But! Dr. Jin suffers from love’s wounds, and through a mysterious power, finds himself transported from 2012 to 1860. Once a doctor, always a doctor, and he begins treating people in that time period, but he’s hampered by the rudimentary medical advancements of that era, and has to fashion medical implements and make medicines himself. In the process, he becomes “a genuine doctor.” In other words, he grows a heart to match that brain.
The premise is an adaptation of a Japanese manga that was turned into a drama in 2009 titled JIN. The Japanese version appears to have won a number of accolades, which never hurts. But I’m expecting the Korean version to tweak enough things to make the drama its own thing, and it sure has enough influences to draw upon from K-dramaland already: It’s like Faith meets Brain meets Operation Proposal meets Jejoongwon.
By some accounts, Time Slip Dr. Jin will air on new general-programming cable station Channel A (home of Color of Woman and Bachelor’s Vegetable Store). However, a few stories are treading more cautiously, saying that the production is still considering going with a broadcast station.

Jin was a really good J-Drama. Great actors, music and sets.
Will be hard to top that.
But as stated, they tweaked it to the point that only the overall theme applies tot he original.

So all this talk about the J-dorama.
Does anyone know where to watch it streaming? I really would like to see it. So far my exposure to Japanese television has been of the Kame/Yamapi bent.

Streaming is not available for JIN as of the moment. You might have to download it, try d-addicts or ourhour livejournal community

thanks, I will try MySoju and if that doesn't work I will try the other suggestions!
Other than my currently airing stuff, I've begun The Princess' Man and Fermentation Family...but I can add this to the roster happily since my currently airing shows are down to SUFBB, BVS, and DH2. I don't count FF as currently airing because by the time I get to the end of the episoded it won't be...so I don't have to wait for anything.
Such a sweet baby-faced gangster cook.

damn! the JIN drama has not started yet and already some of you people are judging SSH. i know he'll do an excellent job. come on people, who cares if you like the Japanese version. does it matter? lets just leave it to the korean writer. i agree with jzme. if you have nothing better to say about SSH please don't leave a comment. he's a great actor just in case you are too blind to see.

@polynuhai - that makes the two of us here, i just don't u/stand why they think he's not a good actor, he was a good actor in all the kdramas he'd done period! like i said to each is own! everybody's entitled to have a chance if you don't think of him as a good actor, don't prejudge him now coz this drama hasn't even started like you said!
peace! give him a break, he seems like a very nice person if you don't think he's a good actor, i think he hasn't done anybody wrong! he's human & you can hurt his feelings so just don't be too harsh on him or anybody in showbiz, just enjoy what they can project & not be a critique!!!!

@jzme-i agreed. SSH is a human being just like anyone else. Off course his feelings will hurt :( i don't understand why so many people are too quick to judge his acting skills. i too don't see anything wrong with it. i'm a huge fan. i watched most of his dramas & movies.
SSh amazed me all the time. He's not only good looking but he can do anything. He never give up on something he does & that's one thing i love about him. he's one of my favorite korean actor. not forgetting he has a nice voice. omg! he's so talented. i'll forever support him. love him to the max :)

@polynuhai - i still can't get over it myself coz the critique about our SSH doesn't seem to merit any of these negative things some of them have said about him! to each is own, they have their favorites, we got ours right? I'm a huge fan myself & I'm not here defending him if he's not what we perceived him to be cause he is multi-talented, woah i know got a nice singing voice, he can do comedy and also action/drama!! Likewise, i'll support him forever & yes i luv him too to the max and I'm thankful that he's keeping himself busy with offers such as Dr. Jin! I can hardly wait to see this one! Glad we're on the same page with him, and let's just enjoy his projects old or new! Nice to meet you here! Go SSH! :)
