Kim Hee-sun keeps the Faith
by javabeans
Looks like the high-budget medical sageuk drama Faith isn’t dead yet, with a wave of fresh stories out to confirm that the production is now kicking back into gear, and that leading lady Kim Hee-sun — who agreed to the project two years ago — is still sticking with the project.
The drama’s had a rocky start, which you can tell just by scanning the related post titles below. It was initially planned to air in 2010, and then again in 2011. Maybe third time’s the charm.
Faith first cast Kim Hee-sun, late-’90s It Girl and star of dramas like Wedding Dress, Propose, and Tomato (more recently Smile Again and Sad Sonata). Its leading man was Lee Jun-ki (Iljimae), until he got called for army duty, after which point Kang Ji-hwan (Lie To Me, Hong Gil Dong) was brought in. Until he ran into legal troubles with the Producers Association.
So what we’ve got is a main cast that’s mostly in place, with supporting actors still attached: Choi Min-soo (Warrior Baek Dong-soo), Kim Seung-soo (I Am Legend), and Philip Lee (Secret Garden). Just no hero.
The drama is set in the Goryeo era, which spans the years 918 to 1392. It’s a medical fusion sageuk fantasy, which seems like everything but the kitchen sink, although since it comes from the director of fusion epic Legend (also Sandglass and Eyes of Dawn), I’m sure there’ll be a way to make all the elements blend. Oh wait, there’s reportedly also a comic bent. There’s that kitchen sink.
Currently the production is building the large-scale outdoor sets and working on assembling a cast. They hope to begin filming in the first half of the year, hoping to hit airwaves later in 2012. It doesn’t have a timeslot or a broadcaster yet, though; producers are in talks with SBS and MBC.

I read somewhere she's doing it with Song Seung-hun. How true is that? Hope he does more rom-coms...not this. ;)

Oh how I love title puns.
I surprised to see an actor/actress stick with a project for so long when filming hasn't even started. I hope it gets picked up and proves the wait worthy, some of us are probably aware of the possible disappointments from pre-produced dramas that finally got a time slot (Ahem, Poseidon).

I'd like to think I am but after five membered DBSK disbanded and Jay Park left 2PM, I'm now more of a casual Kpop fan. I do still support all of the boys 100%.

A medical sageuk drama ? With comedy in it ? Something like M.A.S.H maybe, but in costumes ? Well, THAT is interesting and fresh ! Bring it on !
Furthermore, i miss Philip Lee on my screen : After slicing people's limbs he should evolve and learn how to do stitches. :) And Lee Jun Ki can be quite hilarious so i wouldn't oppose if he would end in this.

That info has to be extremely premature or wrong. The only news site that mentioned Song Seung-heon has now edited the article without his name. Two cents.

I don't mean to be mean but I wouldn't trust allkpop for your drama news. I know they do fairly well in the music area but I prefer to get my drama news from other outlets or on Dramabeans because I know JB and GF always make sure everything is set/true before they let us know.
And I agree with those that says they should just recast Lee Junki!

It does sound exciting, I guess eventually we'll have something born out of this difficult delivery. Kim hee sun was so pretty in hanbok when she collaborated with jackie chan, so i'm not worried about that. Now would the hero please stand out? I'm up for any fresh faces as longas they are good. I wonder if there'll be a childhood segment for child actors too.

I miss KHS to bits, my favorite 90s girl. She's so beautiful! I'd die of major happiness if there was a Kim Hee Sun - Ryu Si Won reunion, but i don't think RSW does sageuks. I'm looking to watch a good sageuk this year, so hope to hear more about this!

Why is it that things always come in trends? Seems like it was rom-cons a while back, and now it's either medical dramas or fusion sageuk fantasies.
