Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #3

girlfriday: Week three of the blazin’ birthday giveaway extravaganza extraordinaire!

javabeans: You know what that means: More presents! Man, what a spoiled 5-year-old Dramabeans is.

girlfriday: Right? If DB were a kid, we’d have one needy brat on our hands.

javabeans: Then again, most 5-year-olds receive presents, and DB’s giving ‘em out. Although I don’t know who gave that kid my credit card info.

girlfriday: Is that what’s going on? That explains a lot. This time we’re giving away a brand new iPod nano, but that’s not the best part. It’s chock full o’ goodies! It’s got a Javabeans Playlist on it, which I’m gonna venture to say is worth more than the player itself.

javabeans: We’ve also got a few more premium memberships to give out to Dramafever, in case you want to get friends/siblings/parents addicted to your drama poison of choice. Because as we know, drama addictions are best shared, not cured.

girlfriday: Yeah, rehab’s for quitters, and we’re no quitters!

javabeans: So get crackin’! By which we mean, please post up lots of nice thoughts for our many many guest posters over the years.

girlfriday: They know how much we appreciate them, but as we know from personal experience, sometimes the warmest thanks comes straight from you guys, so please be generous with the love!

And the winners of Giveaway #2 are…

  • Bethany, winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • PrincessSerenity81, winner of a one-year drama membership to Crunchyroll,
  • and Bluefyre, winner of one $100 gift certificate to Yesasia.

Congratulations! We’ll be contacting you shortly via email. On to the next one!

Giveaway #3

Question: Actually it’s not a question this time, but a prompt: Thank a guest blogger, any guest blogger. That can mean any of our current contributors (i.e., gummimochi, kaedejun, HeadsNo2) or anybody who’s ever written a guest post on Dramabeans in the past. (*Don’t forget to use a valid email address, and please indicate at the bottom of your comment if you are NOT a resident of US/Canada.)

Prizes:

  • 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • another 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • an iPod nano (maybe with some stuff on it, wink-wink).

DramaFever offers free legally-licensed dramas and movies with high-quality English subtitles. With a premium membership you can watch unlimited, commercial-free, and enjoy extra content as well as unlimited mobile device access and high-definition. Check out recently added titles here.

Winners announced: Sunday, January 22, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Okay, you get the point. (You can refer to this handy Time and Date converter to find out what this is in your time zone.)

Thanks, HeadsNo2, for the super prompt and super witty recaps of the Moon that Embraces the Sun! I don't have enough time to watch that drama, but you make it possible for me to enjoy the actors and the plots through the pictures! Keep up the good work!

I would like to thank HeadsNo2 for their contribution to History of a Salary Man. I really got into the drama after reading the recaps. Thanks to all the recappers on dramabeans...I don't know how much work I would have gotten done if I took the time to watch each drama.

I have a soft spot for Dahee_Fanel. So cynical, sassy, and to the point. I feel she doesn't sugar coat things, her taste is immaculate, and most of all, the snark. Damn I love her snark.

I need to thank guest bloggers red pill and cassie.opia for their hard work and dedication to recapping my ultimate favorite crack drama, Sungkyunkwan scandal. I lived and died for those recaps! Thank you so so much! I definitely appreciated the work you both put in. To the max. You guys rock!

I also want to throw in a thanks to HeadsNo2 for your recent work with Tree With Deep Roots. I thoroughly enjoyed that show, so I'm glad you were about to recap it for us DB readers!

I'd like to thank SAMSOOKI for his beautiful review written years ago. We share the same opinion on what makes a GREAT drama - it must be able to touch the heart. =)

Samsooki, I've missed your posts! I hope to hear more from you soon. God bless you.

I'm a college student, and so I only have time to watch a few dramas. However, I also enjoy watching variety shows so thanks gummigochi for recapping Running Man! It's faster reading your recaps than watching so I appreciate that!

Big thanks to Red pill and Cassie.opeia for Sungkyunkwan Scandal! I loved the recaps, the screen shots, the thoughts and explanations. I often get lost in saeguks b/c they add in history or background stuff that I just don't get or the subs don't detail out well. I'm able to understand better and squeal with you! =)

Thank you gummimochi for all your Running Man recaps! Being a Running Man watcher and not 1n2d watcher, I must admit I was sad there were no Running Man recaps before. Especially when I was feeling rather impatient for the subs. But thanks to your great recaps, I have been able to enjoy this variety show much more hehe :D

Many thanks to all Dramabeans bloggers, guest or not. It is physically impossible to watch every drama that I am interested in, thanks to the not yet discovered fourth dimension. Although reading recaps is a different experience than watching the drama itself, I get to enjoy many dramas without physically exhausting myself from sleep deprivation.

One of the dramas that I've watched and was recapped by guest bloggers was Sungkyunkwan Scandal. Thank you to cassie.opeia and red pill for an amazing journey through the adventures of the characters. I watch the drama with subtitles so the recaps greatly helped my understanding.

Thank you to all the other guest bloggers - HeadsNo2, Dahee_Fanel, Kaedejun, Samsooki, gummimochi, and everyone else who has contributed to the amazing work of Dramabeans. I have read pieces of everyone's work and they are all very informative and fun to read.

Lastly, thanks to Javabeans and Girlfriday for a site I visit every day.

While I have thoroughly enjoyed all the wonderful guest bloggers (and yes, I think I have read pretty much all of them) and each one's individual style, I would like to take this time to thank Samsooki. It was so fun to revisit my old friend, Sam Soon, and to watch it again with a guy's commentary. Love the combination of good writing and wit! Dramabeans contributors are exceptional and with writers such as the ones found here, it will be a piece of cake to celebrate many, many more years of success. Congratulations!

Thank you so much to all guest bloggers for the last five years, esp. mention to SAMSOOKI who made me laugh out loud for his city hall recaps.
I love the humor and wit of the recaps that i decided not to watch the drama at all ( because i have a feeling that it was not as good as the recaps suggest...hehe).

And I will going grab my chance now (too) to greet you and mrs. samsooki and baby samsooki a happy new year...KABOOM!

Happy 5-year anniversary dramabeans!

So yes - Samsooki, I hope you'll come back to DB and recap something else; old school but memorable dramas! Loved your episode commentaries :)

I wanted to say thank you to HeadsNo2. If I hadn't read your posts on padam padam and history of the salaryman i might not have given those dramas a chance. Honestly i was in a k-drama slump but your reviews really piqued my interest so i decided to try these dramas and now they are my favorites! I have that addictive feeling I haven't had since I started watching k-dramas over 2 years ago. I really like your writing style too. I am not good at expressing myself but when I read your posts it's like everything I ever wanted to say about the dramas and more. I hope you continue to write more reviews. Good luck to you!

To HeadsNo2:

Your recaps on Tree are awesomesauce. During the time it was broadcasted, I would watch every episode and then head over here just to see if the latest recap is up so I can read what your reactions are for each episode. I have to say, it's the first time I ever really read through the comments section of a drama--and while I know the brilliance of Tree is responsible for the discussion that went through each recap, without your hard work, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have that little place to gather and talk about our thoughts and predictions on what's about to happen in the next episode. Reading your recaps certainly made watching Tree a much better experience than I ever thought, so thank you! I hope you keep recapping stuff here, because your insights are gold and I love the way you write. :D

Thank you, kaedejun for your commitment to finish all the recaps so far, especially You've Fallen for Me. Although the drama kinda went down the drain towards the end, you still kept up with it and brought on a concise summary of each episode. Really appreciate it because I still wanted to know what happened even though I gave up on watching it halfway through the drama. Love your work so much that I check your blog out too. :)

Without your drama updates, recaps, or just fascinating korean entertainment news....I think I would dieee from busing home everyday for 1 hour+. One of the best bloggers I have read from and the only one I have stuck with in the past couple of years. You're recaps are the best and of the highest quality!~
Keep up the excellent work and I look forward to reading more posts! :)

Everyone on the DB crew is awesome, but I have to give extra props to kaedejun, whom I remember most for laughing, crying and screaming "WHYYYY?!" along with the rest of us throughout "I Am Legend"'s run. Maybe it wasn't the best drama out there, but kaedejun took care to point out the funny/squeeworthy/sweet stuff, as well as critique constructively. Thank you - I don't think I would have enjoyed the show half as much without you or the discussions here on Dramabeans!

Thanks nattacatta for the Tamra the Island recaps! I couldn't find the subs for that drama anywhere and I REALLYYY wanted to watch it after hearing all the raves about it! Thanks to your recaps, I got to watch it by reading it :) Without them, I would've been missing out on the awesomeness of Im Joo-hwan and cuteness of Seo Woo so thanks!!! You should come back and recaps on dramabeans.

I don't know if winners get to go again, but I'd still like to thank the guest bloggers anyway. ;)

Kaedejun: You are awesome and thank you for your recaps and input! Most notably the ones you're most passionate about like What's Up and many many others. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!

HeadsNo2: Your writing is awesome and so are the things you choose to write about. Going on the Tree with Deep Roots journey with you was amazing and though I've yet to catch up with History of the Salaryman, know that I will! ^^

Santa: Yeah, I know. You only show up once in a while, but I enjoy your posts nonethless. :) Please show up around here more often...if you can.

Samsooki: You may not be around here a lot now, but still...You. Are. Awesome! 'nuff said ^_^
