Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #3

girlfriday: Week three of the blazin’ birthday giveaway extravaganza extraordinaire!

javabeans: You know what that means: More presents! Man, what a spoiled 5-year-old Dramabeans is.

girlfriday: Right? If DB were a kid, we’d have one needy brat on our hands.

javabeans: Then again, most 5-year-olds receive presents, and DB’s giving ‘em out. Although I don’t know who gave that kid my credit card info.

girlfriday: Is that what’s going on? That explains a lot. This time we’re giving away a brand new iPod nano, but that’s not the best part. It’s chock full o’ goodies! It’s got a Javabeans Playlist on it, which I’m gonna venture to say is worth more than the player itself.

javabeans: We’ve also got a few more premium memberships to give out to Dramafever, in case you want to get friends/siblings/parents addicted to your drama poison of choice. Because as we know, drama addictions are best shared, not cured.

girlfriday: Yeah, rehab’s for quitters, and we’re no quitters!

javabeans: So get crackin’! By which we mean, please post up lots of nice thoughts for our many many guest posters over the years.

girlfriday: They know how much we appreciate them, but as we know from personal experience, sometimes the warmest thanks comes straight from you guys, so please be generous with the love!

And the winners of Giveaway #2 are…

  • Bethany, winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • PrincessSerenity81, winner of a one-year drama membership to Crunchyroll,
  • and Bluefyre, winner of one $100 gift certificate to Yesasia.

Congratulations! We’ll be contacting you shortly via email. On to the next one!

Giveaway #3

Question: Actually it’s not a question this time, but a prompt: Thank a guest blogger, any guest blogger. That can mean any of our current contributors (i.e., gummimochi, kaedejun, HeadsNo2) or anybody who’s ever written a guest post on Dramabeans in the past. (*Don’t forget to use a valid email address, and please indicate at the bottom of your comment if you are NOT a resident of US/Canada.)

Prizes:

  • 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • another 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • an iPod nano (maybe with some stuff on it, wink-wink).

DramaFever offers free legally-licensed dramas and movies with high-quality English subtitles. With a premium membership you can watch unlimited, commercial-free, and enjoy extra content as well as unlimited mobile device access and high-definition. Check out recently added titles here.

Winners announced: Sunday, January 22, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Okay, you get the point. (You can refer to this handy Time and Date converter to find out what this is in your time zone.)

I would like to thank kaedejun in particular for her recaps of Romance Town. It ended up not being the best drama ever, but nevertheless, they really helped me out. Romance Town was the first drama that I ever forced myself to watch unsubtitled, because with my level of Korean, I figured that I should no longer be using them as a crutch.

... Actually that's partially a lie, subtitles just weren't coming out fast enough, LOL (but I really should stop using them as a crutch, ahem). ANYWAY. I really appreciated having the recaps for the times when I was like "What the hell just happened?" and also for the times when I needed a bit of validation/an ego boost because I actually understood what was going on. Thank you so much for your hard work, kaedejun <3

Samsooki - thank you for the wonderful recaps, especially the MNIKSS ones! Although I've already watched the drama by the time you offered the recaps, it was such a pleasure to enjoy the drama again through your eyes and see all the details and nuances I missed the first time around.

Just want to give a big shout out to one of my new favorite recappers HeadsNo2! (please imagine this being said behind a podium of some sorts and with me clutching some sort of large trophy) ^_^ I recently thanked her on her latest Padam Padam recap because I was so impressed with the quality of her writing. The recap was evocative, beautifully written, and almost seemed like a stand-alone piece of writing. That being said, I also want to thank all the other guest recappers on Dramabeans because without them...well, none of us would get any sleep watching all 3948439843 dramas that come out during the year! Oh, and um...last, but not least...God! ^_^

Samsooki. Definitely. For making me fall in love with a drama that I didn't enjoy watching the first time around (MNISS). In general though, I think all the readers here as well as javabeans and girlfriday appreciate the guest writers. No one's obligated to please the readers on this site, but it's great to see an effort of that happening without completely exhausting the main writers here.

Really appreciate recaps by Samsookki. You help in making me big fans of Kim Sun Ah. Your male point of view in MNIKSS n CH cleared a lot of webs of misunderstanding especially for non-Korean speaking viewers like me.
Not forgetting Cassie..oppea and Red Pill, you guys rock!!
And of course, Javabeans n Girlfriday, you're adorable!!

second to girlfriday, i think i enjoy gummimochi's recaps the most!

javabeans & girlfriday just have this VOICE that is refreshing, easy to read, easy to follow, and enjoyable--- and i believe it's probably really hard to pull off well, consistently. so javabeans, kudos on grabbing girlfriday and making her a regular & then for bringing on different contributors to see how things float!

All the recappers deserve my thanks; but my special thanks to:

SAMSOOKI for City Hall and MNIKSS. Thanks, too, to his team. I sincerely hope that samsooki will find time to do recaps this year without sacrificing quality time with his family and quality performance at work;

KAEDEJUN who did not drop The Musical even when it became a bit disappointing midway through. Kaedejun, I appreciate your opinion on various aspects of the drama. My only "complaint" is that you were/are not as crazily in love with... Daniel Choi as I am;)

dw4p and soyjoy for stepping up to continue the recaps of Smile, You although for some reasons they eventually dropped the project. Which is a pity, really.

I would like to thank gummimochi for your running man recaps :D I'm so glad it is being covered on dramabeans allowing it more exposure to other people who do not know of the show. I love this game show immensely giving me a good excuse to laugh and learn. I enjoy seeing the cast's adventure that I wouldn't get a chance to have from a week's hard work. I'm guilty of loving everything running man >_< and having running man recaps is a great plus because I get to spazz along with you and other viewers :) I watch raw, watch subbed, read recaps and do it all over again when I have time or want to take a tripe back to my happy memory lane :)

Even though he only checks in every once in a while, I'd like to thank Samsooki for his contributions to DB. I know life's gotten in the way of Samsooki participating more on the site, but everytime I see his name appear, it's like Christmas. Thank you for your weird love of Jang Nara, your perspective & teachings on certain topics & your hilariously awesome battles with JB.

We miss you around these parts but hope you, Mrs. Samsooki & Baby Samsooki are doing well!

Thanks to all the guest bloggers that have been a part of the DB family past and present. It's not only JB and GF who have made this site what it is today but everyone's contributions.

First shout out would have to be for samsooki. Impeccable writing and commentary on City Hall. It's one of my favorite dramas of all time now and I wouldn't have watched it if not for samsooki's recaps. And for letting us all relive the glory of MNIKSS. Wonderful throwback to an old favorite. And not to mention the My Love Patzzi posts that launched a thousand comments. haha =)

And for only1tony. I remember reading some of his movie recaps which are certainly most welcome and informative in a blog that mostly features dramas.

And to kaedejun for recapping some of the dramas that wouldn't necessarily get recapped. And sticking with it (through thick and thin). *cough*Athena*cough*Romance Town*cough*. What a trooper!

I'm really grateful to all guest recappers on Dramabeans. It's always nice to have recaps to read, especially for dramas I'm watching. I read the recaps to relive the drama, learn from different viewpoints of the drama, agree with the same ones, laugh at the witty commentary, clarify the bits that baffle, admire the lovely pictures, get swept-up in the mania fan-dom, quietly contemplate the underrated ones, nod appreciatively at how good writing elevates the enjoyment of dramas,... need I say more?

Special thanks to Samsooki for adding a male voice to this female-dominated world.

I'd like to thank Samsooki for bringing on the nostalgia! I've watched MKSS for about 20 times and because of her recaps, I watched it 5 more times to have a look on the things I've missed...

Thanks again and again and again!

You're awesome for all the High Kick 3 recaps, gummimochi!
I love that you share the same kind of love for High Kick 3 as I do. It's not that I value your opinion because it's just like mine, but because your recaps are able to recap all the nuances of the many characters on the show. It's easy to see that you love your work, and the recaps become just as fun to anticipate and watch as the real episodes themselves.

High Kick 3 is the first show I followed here on DB. Your recaps transformed me from "lurker" and "commenter with the long-ass, eager comments". Ha! Any time I see "gummi" or "mochi" anywhere, I'll surely remember my favorite guest blogger. Thank you, gummimochi!
