Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #3

girlfriday: Week three of the blazin’ birthday giveaway extravaganza extraordinaire!

javabeans: You know what that means: More presents! Man, what a spoiled 5-year-old Dramabeans is.

girlfriday: Right? If DB were a kid, we’d have one needy brat on our hands.

javabeans: Then again, most 5-year-olds receive presents, and DB’s giving ‘em out. Although I don’t know who gave that kid my credit card info.

girlfriday: Is that what’s going on? That explains a lot. This time we’re giving away a brand new iPod nano, but that’s not the best part. It’s chock full o’ goodies! It’s got a Javabeans Playlist on it, which I’m gonna venture to say is worth more than the player itself.

javabeans: We’ve also got a few more premium memberships to give out to Dramafever, in case you want to get friends/siblings/parents addicted to your drama poison of choice. Because as we know, drama addictions are best shared, not cured.

girlfriday: Yeah, rehab’s for quitters, and we’re no quitters!

javabeans: So get crackin’! By which we mean, please post up lots of nice thoughts for our many many guest posters over the years.

girlfriday: They know how much we appreciate them, but as we know from personal experience, sometimes the warmest thanks comes straight from you guys, so please be generous with the love!

And the winners of Giveaway #2 are…

  • Bethany, winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • PrincessSerenity81, winner of a one-year drama membership to Crunchyroll,
  • and Bluefyre, winner of one $100 gift certificate to Yesasia.

Congratulations! We’ll be contacting you shortly via email. On to the next one!

Giveaway #3

Question: Actually it’s not a question this time, but a prompt: Thank a guest blogger, any guest blogger. That can mean any of our current contributors (i.e., gummimochi, kaedejun, HeadsNo2) or anybody who’s ever written a guest post on Dramabeans in the past. (*Don’t forget to use a valid email address, and please indicate at the bottom of your comment if you are NOT a resident of US/Canada.)

Prizes:

  • 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • another 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • an iPod nano (maybe with some stuff on it, wink-wink).

DramaFever offers free legally-licensed dramas and movies with high-quality English subtitles. With a premium membership you can watch unlimited, commercial-free, and enjoy extra content as well as unlimited mobile device access and high-definition. Check out recently added titles here.

Winners announced: Sunday, January 22, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Okay, you get the point. (You can refer to this handy Time and Date converter to find out what this is in your time zone.)

Everyones contribution to this great unique site is to be applauded. For me, I could not stop smiling after Samsooki started recapping MNIKSS. I had watched that series 4 times over the years but did not pick up on the fine details due to things lost in translation. Thanks to Samsooki for giving me a deeper appreciation of a thoroughly enjoyable kdrama classic! Plus City Hall...gosh im glad u understood the political hooplah cause I would have had no idea!

I don't pay attention to who's posting entries/doing recaps (I didn't realize there has been so many guest bloggers), so I'll just say a big "thanks" to everyone. Thank you for keeping me entertained for the past 3 + years, and motivating me to watch dramas that I wouldn't have watched initially. Love the recaps, because they give me the ending before I watch a drama (I like to know the ending before the beefy part), and allow me to sneak one in during my busy day.

Thank you orangy911 for the M2F recaps!!! And all the recappers in general... I tried to write a summary and it was hard work. I don't know how you all do episode recaps so fast with photos included as well. Everyone does awesome job of it.

I'd like to thank kaedejun for writing such wonderful recaps. Acutally, it was thanks to your You've Fallen for Me and What's Up recaps that I started watching Korean dramas at all. You always make them interesting, and they're hilarious to read. Thanks for all the time you put into them(:

Only1tony did an amazing job recapping my all time favorite Korean Movie; Man from Nowhere. I already own this movie and have seen it multiple times. Only1tony's review was right on the money. I did love the movie and did not regret watching it at all. Thank you for your great work and keep it up. >_<

My thanks go to Dahee.

Dahee, strangely enough our tastes in Korean television cannot be more different. Upon reading your year end reviews on Dramabeans (which have then led me to your plastic castle), I discovered that you have smashed all the dramas and actors/actresses I love to itty bits with your writing. The dramas you love, on the other hand, I cannot for the life of me get on board (currently on ep 37 of Flames of Ambition, which I started watching last June after becoming aware of your enthusiasm of it. "Abandoning ship" is a prospect that has occurred (and still is occurring) to me many many times, but as tempting as that sounds I am determined to see it through... Or it might simply be a refusal to admit that I have *coughwastedcough* 36 hours of my life).

Your flair for words, regardless of whether I agree with the opinion that is being expressed, has made me chuckle on more than one occasion. Thanks for always being such an entertaining blog personality <3

P.s. It seems we both share an affinity for PIE. (Ah, PIE. Pure, 100% unadulterated sunshine.) This earns you 10 brownie points!

P.p.s. Hearty thanks to javabeans and girlfriday too - you guys get the p.p.s 'cause the topic clearly states 'guest bloggers' heh. I survive boring lectures thanks to you guys hehe

Dahee_Fanel, you always think the exact opposite of what I am thinking about any given drama. It drives me up a wall, but I love having to come up with more reasons to defend my favorite shows! Thanks for being my devil's advocate!

Is it fair to just thank one guest blogger? Oh well, if I have to pick, I'd say thank you the guest blogger of the Year End Reviews of 2007-2011. Yes, that means you! *wink* *wink*

It's always fun to read recaps but I think for me, I love the year end reviews. They are filled with honest opinions, wit, sarcasm and much more. Although I do use year end reviews to filter which dramas to watch, I mainly tune in for the pure enjoyment of reading. So once again, thank you guest blogger of the year end review.

(P.S. -For those of you who are still lost and questioning, which guest blogger is "the" guest blogger? Well, it could be dahee, thundie, samsooki, hjkomo, kaedejun, Santa, or Sevenses. ;-p)

Current: Headsno2, for having what seems to be a truly deep knowledge of Korean language/culture, and for writing amazing recaps, full of really satisfying analysis, a touch of witty humor, and good enough prose that I always mistake your writing for Javabeans'.

Former: Samsooki. He could be wordy at times, and occasionally didn't live up to his potential (i.e., whatever happened to the Chuno recaps?? lol). But he always took a bold stance and defended it, and his recaps/posts were always fun/funny.

Thank you so much to the both of you!

A big thank you to javabeans for everything you do and for recapping "A Thousand Day Promise." I was excited for Kim Rae-won's return to dramaland but couldn't stand the over-sappiness of the drama by episode 3!

this goes out to you Samsooki~!! I clearly remember your City Hall recap - it's what made me tune in and inevitably fall in love with kim sunah (watched this before mnikss), introduced me to the ever delicious cha seung won, and utterly hooked me to the fantastic story that City Hall was. many many many thanks for that...

and of course i have to mention your MNIKSS recaps - reading it a few years after i watched it made me relive it all over again :D
