Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #3

girlfriday: Week three of the blazin’ birthday giveaway extravaganza extraordinaire!

javabeans: You know what that means: More presents! Man, what a spoiled 5-year-old Dramabeans is.

girlfriday: Right? If DB were a kid, we’d have one needy brat on our hands.

javabeans: Then again, most 5-year-olds receive presents, and DB’s giving ‘em out. Although I don’t know who gave that kid my credit card info.

girlfriday: Is that what’s going on? That explains a lot. This time we’re giving away a brand new iPod nano, but that’s not the best part. It’s chock full o’ goodies! It’s got a Javabeans Playlist on it, which I’m gonna venture to say is worth more than the player itself.

javabeans: We’ve also got a few more premium memberships to give out to Dramafever, in case you want to get friends/siblings/parents addicted to your drama poison of choice. Because as we know, drama addictions are best shared, not cured.

girlfriday: Yeah, rehab’s for quitters, and we’re no quitters!

javabeans: So get crackin’! By which we mean, please post up lots of nice thoughts for our many many guest posters over the years.

girlfriday: They know how much we appreciate them, but as we know from personal experience, sometimes the warmest thanks comes straight from you guys, so please be generous with the love!

And the winners of Giveaway #2 are…

  • Bethany, winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • PrincessSerenity81, winner of a one-year drama membership to Crunchyroll,
  • and Bluefyre, winner of one $100 gift certificate to Yesasia.

Congratulations! We’ll be contacting you shortly via email. On to the next one!

Giveaway #3

Question: Actually it’s not a question this time, but a prompt: Thank a guest blogger, any guest blogger. That can mean any of our current contributors (i.e., gummimochi, kaedejun, HeadsNo2) or anybody who’s ever written a guest post on Dramabeans in the past. (*Don’t forget to use a valid email address, and please indicate at the bottom of your comment if you are NOT a resident of US/Canada.)

Prizes:

  • 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • another 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • an iPod nano (maybe with some stuff on it, wink-wink).

DramaFever offers free legally-licensed dramas and movies with high-quality English subtitles. With a premium membership you can watch unlimited, commercial-free, and enjoy extra content as well as unlimited mobile device access and high-definition. Check out recently added titles here.

Winners announced: Sunday, January 22, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Okay, you get the point. (You can refer to this handy Time and Date converter to find out what this is in your time zone.)

Many many thanks to samsooki, red pill and cassie.opeia. Without their recaps I probably would've never bothered to watch City Hall or SKKS! And look what I would've missed out on! Not only did they save me from such a great travesty, they tickled my funny bone AND educated me at the same time - something which, being a teacher myself so I can speak from experience, is harder than it sounds :)

Thanks also go out to headsNo2 for Tree With Deep Roots - I haven't finished the recaps, because you made the show sound so awesome that I've decided to watch it and I don't want to spoil the ending :)

Can I thank you all? 'Cause that would be best!
No? Really?! Ok then.

Let me just explain something; I do like the recaps, but what really cracks me up are the Year in Review bits. So it's only fair to thanks THUNDERBOLT (who made me run like a crazy one for La Dolce Vita) and DAHEE FANEL.
Maybe it's because I've been lurking their blogs before I even came here.
No, it's problably because I wouldn't have watched 'Ruler of Your Own World', 'Rebirth', 'Mahwang' and 'White Tower' if it wasn't for them rambling about it. THANK YOU GUYS, or in my native language OBRIGADO!

Samsooki: if she writes it, I will read it! She totally had me at City Hall (my first recaps of hers that I read), but now I don't miss anything she reads.

That seems unfair to just say one, though, when red pill and cassieopeia totally gave me the SKKS love during the midst of a hectic schedule, which we all know saves our insanity during withdrawal.

But probably what most of us should also mention is that ALL of the guest bloggers deserve more thanks than they get: anyone new that I send to Dramabeans has an ample log of Recaps written by about 12 different guest bloggers over the years to read through. One friend I sent here spent a week just reading the recaps before she, in fact, actually watched her first k-drama, and she laughed and cried while reading. That's the k-drama love, and the gift that only those regular and guess bloggers can give! So thank you very much, one and ALL.

Hey thundie and dahee fanel, thanks a million to you writers who put my thoughts and feeling into words. Whether glossed over on my part or left in the dark, you guys somehow manage to salvage them. A combination of you both helps my "inner soul" gain some satifaction and sanity when i feel like "why doesn't javabeans or girlfriday understand? Boohoo. " sometimes I literally jump up in joy and scream, finally! When I read your comments. It's a sick sense of joy from satisfying my insane need to put thoughts into words. So a big thank you to you guys!!! :))) continue being awesome!

Overall, thank you to all writers who introduce movies and give me excuses to watch a drama by reading it when I am not supposed to have enough time to watch them. Thank you for inspiring me to apprectiate kdrama in a deeper level and actually remember the names of actors and actresses :)
you guys are nothing less than the centre of my kdrama passion or addiction, whatever haha.

Thank you Santa Clause!
Your unique perspective on the drama scene is very refreshing and straightforward. You cut through all the useless junk and give us exactly what you want. Thanks for giving us a different, simpler(?) way to look at things!

By the way javabeans, it would be nice if you could give us a playlist page of the music you have, even if it's just the title and singer, cus you really have great taste and resources in music.

I'd like to sincerely thank gummimochi for a wonderful recap on Running Man Episode 70. I suspect I would've been a BIG fan of Korean variety shows had there been more than 24 hours a day. But with the seemingly endless number of dramas to watch (yay for cable!), it's almost sad to think that I cannot spare the mere few hours I have for "real" life to watch KVariety.

RM Ep70 was REALLY special for me because I am a HUGE Sohn Ye-jin fan. I was in a bit of a panic because I ABSOLUTELY MUST see that episode but even if I did, I was worried because I didn't understand the language. HEAPS of thanks to gummimochi for the great recap on this episode and saving me from all the stress. Keep it up!!!

Oh, good idea! (or Gut gut gut!, as the principal in High Kick says) Thanks to all guestbloggers on dramabeans, you guys rock! And I especially wanted to thank kaedejun (I feel I'm at an award ceremony ^^;) Thank you for recapping The Musical to the end and for being so spot-on in everything you said. Thank you for the Romance Town recaps, I ended up reading only them because they were far more fun than the show itself! Finally thank you for recapping What's Up and spreading Byung Gun love!
Thank you thundie for everything and for ...your mashcap ㅋㅋㅋ. It didn't receive the love it deserved! ^^

Orangy911 – Thanks for taking the time to recap M2F, it was one of my favorite shows this year!

HeadsNo2 – Thanks for the recap of the first episode of Wild Romance! I know that you won’t be continuing but I think the show is hilarious and I was glad to see your thoughts on the first episode!

This site has been on my bookmarks bar for 3 years now! And it’s thanks to all the wonderful recappers! ☺

Dear Dahee_Fanel, Thank you for taking the time to guest blog on DB. I love your year head review. What i love about it is that you write about some non-main stream dramas that we watches might not know about. And thanks you I've learned about other dramas and some I've thought about taking a stab at. Keep up the awesome reviews and keep reviewing those under the radar dramas)

Thank you nattacatta for Tamra the Island, part of the reason I watched this series was because I saw your belated recaps on DB, and the other was because it kept showing up on my Viki homepage.

Thank you kaedejun for Prosecutor Princess. I didn't have time to watch the series, so I back track to read your recaps.

Thank you HeadsNo2 for Tree with Deep Roots and Salaryman, you definitely got your plate full. Your recaps really help me fill in the blanks.

A special thank you to Dahee for her Painter in the Wind recaps for being some of the most entertaining and enlightening recaps that I've read in a long time.

To all of the other guest recappers, thank you for the time and effort you put into the recaps!

I loved, loved, LOVED HeadsNo2's recaps of 'Tree with Deep Roots'.
Every time I finished an episode I raced right over to Dramabeans to get another instalment of witty and insightful recapping.
This was one of my favourite dramas of the year and I know how much HeadsNo2 loved it - so the highest compliment that I can pay her is to say simply:
the supreme quality of the drama was matched delightfully with the quality of the recapping.
Thank you!

This is not the first time I have written to thank the guest bloggers but in particular, I would like to thank

nattacatta - for introducing me to Tamra the Island, and Park Kyu. It left an impact that you wouldn't believe.

kaedejun - for recapping the lesser known dramas that nevertheless have perked up my interest, such as Romance Town, Prosecutor Princess, The Musical and currently, What's Up.

To end off, CONGRATS on the 5th year anniversary! Thank you jb (and gf too) for this lovely site. Without jb starting up dramabeans back then, where would we be now?

Dear samsooki,

Hello fellow lover of My Kim Sam Soon! Hahaha. When you first guest starred on dramabeans I took one look at your nam, a few seconds scrolling down to read its meaning and I was in lurvee. You recapping My Name is Kim Sam Soon despite it being a 100 years old made me read the whole progress while also rewatching MNKSS. Darn you, you made me have a hyunbin fever again!

I was a little surprised when I found out you were a guy. And a lawyer. And married! Why oh why.... :'( Oh wells, I hope though you had a beautiful baby.
(I'm really not a stalker! forgive me and my ahjussi crushes~~~~)

Hahaha all joking aside, I just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you thank you for letting me find that I'm not the only one still obssessed with MNKSS and that you have made me laugh a million times.

With lurveeeee,
Me.

You've made dramabeans into an integral part of my life and a hated website to my parents (lol, because I never get any homework done because I'm reading posts). Thank you! THANK YOU!!!

Thank you HeadsNo2 for your recap on tree with deep roots, i love your style of writing and felt that your recaps are always so detailed and thoughtful, i cant believe i could still cry as much watching the final episode when i read your recap. Also many thanks for reviewing ep 1 of padam padam, or i would have completely miss thistouching drama and the Adorable bromance between kang chil and gook soo. Also since there are only 24 hours in a day, i want to give my last thanks to you for covering history of the salaryman and wild romance, although i am saving then for easter holiday.

Lastly, i want to thank every other bloggers out there, especially javabeans and girlfriday, for without you all i shudders to thing what my life would have been without Dramabeans. (ive been a beanie for 2.5 years now xD)
