Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #3

girlfriday: Week three of the blazin’ birthday giveaway extravaganza extraordinaire!

javabeans: You know what that means: More presents! Man, what a spoiled 5-year-old Dramabeans is.

girlfriday: Right? If DB were a kid, we’d have one needy brat on our hands.

javabeans: Then again, most 5-year-olds receive presents, and DB’s giving ‘em out. Although I don’t know who gave that kid my credit card info.

girlfriday: Is that what’s going on? That explains a lot. This time we’re giving away a brand new iPod nano, but that’s not the best part. It’s chock full o’ goodies! It’s got a Javabeans Playlist on it, which I’m gonna venture to say is worth more than the player itself.

javabeans: We’ve also got a few more premium memberships to give out to Dramafever, in case you want to get friends/siblings/parents addicted to your drama poison of choice. Because as we know, drama addictions are best shared, not cured.

girlfriday: Yeah, rehab’s for quitters, and we’re no quitters!

javabeans: So get crackin’! By which we mean, please post up lots of nice thoughts for our many many guest posters over the years.

girlfriday: They know how much we appreciate them, but as we know from personal experience, sometimes the warmest thanks comes straight from you guys, so please be generous with the love!

And the winners of Giveaway #2 are…

  • Bethany, winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • PrincessSerenity81, winner of a one-year drama membership to Crunchyroll,
  • and Bluefyre, winner of one $100 gift certificate to Yesasia.

Congratulations! We’ll be contacting you shortly via email. On to the next one!

Giveaway #3

Question: Actually it’s not a question this time, but a prompt: Thank a guest blogger, any guest blogger. That can mean any of our current contributors (i.e., gummimochi, kaedejun, HeadsNo2) or anybody who’s ever written a guest post on Dramabeans in the past. (*Don’t forget to use a valid email address, and please indicate at the bottom of your comment if you are NOT a resident of US/Canada.)

Prizes:

  • 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • another 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • an iPod nano (maybe with some stuff on it, wink-wink).

DramaFever offers free legally-licensed dramas and movies with high-quality English subtitles. With a premium membership you can watch unlimited, commercial-free, and enjoy extra content as well as unlimited mobile device access and high-definition. Check out recently added titles here.

Winners announced: Sunday, January 22, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Okay, you get the point. (You can refer to this handy Time and Date converter to find out what this is in your time zone.)

kaedejun for Prosecutor Princess'recap.

Sincerely, I usually come here for news/reading comments only in drama recaps. I was never interested to read airing drama recap until Prosecutor Princess came. PP is the first airing drama that I keep up with the recap in DB blog while watching the drama. Kaedejun's fangirling moment in writing PP's recap also make me laughed and having fun while reading. It's really memorable moment for me :)

After that drama, it's become my habit to read recap in this blog if any of the writers are recaping the drama that I'm watching. So, thanks for a million, Kaedejun :)

I always want to read previous winner's comments. So can you link to their page's comment when announcing the winners' name in next giveaway post? There is no way I can read all of the comments in giveaway to find winner's comment ;p

Wait... Not only must we choose between cheese and desert, between the jerk and the nice guy, now you want me to choose a DB contributor ?? This is not gonna work ladies : I take ALL words and screencaps that pop up on my screen, understood ?
Now if you really want me to spill a name for a culprit, i have to thank ( denounce ) Orangy 911 for the Me too, Flower recaps. I enjoyed the ride, and it added wonderful memories to my little heart. Let me treat you to a virtual meal : Korean beef, juicy Veggies, soju AND your favorite desert. :)
I'm not american, but i think you girls should know it by now.

Thanks Thundie for the thoughts you've shared with us. I've always found in you a tone of warmth, reflectiveness and a maturity that makes me feel like I'm reading from a much experienced older friend.

Thank you! And may you be blessed with strength to overcome current hardships, and with a lightness of a mind to embrace happiness to come.

Thanks HeadsNo2 for recapping Tree with Deep Roots. I love sageuk dramas but it seems like it doesn't get as much love on dramabeans. Anyway, HeadsNo2 provides excellent recaps as well as thoughtful commentary.

I’m really thankful to kaedejun and aberdeen_angus for the wonderful recaps for prosecutor princess. You guys definitively assisted with my obsession for the show, hahaha… B. If I hadn't read your recaps I probably wouldn't have completed it.... I thought I would have driven out of my mind from sheer boredom but after reading the recaps I was pretty much sold that it would awesome from episode 7 onwards. I miss the stalker InWoo moments, he definitively gave some points on how to be a better stalker. *sighs* The recaps were awesome with even awesomer( is this a word?) insights.

p.s I loved you guys witticisms.

Thank you to all the Dramabeans Dream Team who make such an effort to make KDramas that much more accessible.

At the moment I'm checking out HeadsNo2's recaps for The Moon that Embraces the Sun and Gummimochi's recaps for High Kick.

I've been drawn to Kaedejun's recaps too. Usually I start watching out the dramas she covers but pull out half way through due to a lacking storyline but Kaedejun keeps the faith and through her I keep in touch with the story-I really appreciate her selfless dedication to what I consider train wrecks in the KDramaland ones that through her I can still get glimpses of-I'm sick that way.

Thanks again to all.

I would like to thank HeadsNo2 for recapping Tree with Deep Roots she did a super fantastic job of conveying the feel of each episode. It was so satisfying that I am content to shelve the drama for now and watch it when I am in the right mood. Not that I would pass up watching this drama but I don't think I'm not quite ready for it yet. Still need more eye candy.

All of the guest bloggers that have recapped dramas make this site one of my daily stops. I want to especially thank samsooki and kaedejun who make me want to read their recaps even when I'm not initially interested in the drama they are featuring.

It's the humor and insight that keeps me coming back. How did I live before dramabeans was a daily part ofmy life? I can barely remember.

Dear kaedejun,
Thank you so so much for recapping You've Fallen For Me.
When the drama was airing, I was in the middle of my crazy exam preparations, and couldn't find time to watch the drama, but DAMNIT I NEED TO WATCH THAT DRAMA.
Your recaps was the perfect solution, and just by reading them, I can see in my head the drama unfolding already. When I watched YFFM later (after my exams, ofcourse), I was not (really) surprised when some of the scenes were EXACTLY as how I imagined it.
There's something about the way you write that really gets me, and personally, I think you're just simply wonderful. The comments are funny and witty, yet also insightful. If I may say it again - simply wonderful.

To Dramabeans,
who've always been here to satisfy my drama addictions (omg it's worse than drugs!) and always able to make me laugh and (sometimes) cry. I've been something of a lurker, not always posting comments, but right now, I would really like to thank javabeans and girlfriday for their awesomeness.

Cheers to great dramas!

Happy 5-year Anniversary Dramabeans! May you have many more to come! :)

I'd like to thank: HeadsNo2 and orangy911. (^__^)

HeadsNo2, Thank you for your wonderful recaps of "Tree with Deep Roots". Each of your recaps had captivating descriptions of the scenes, especially those heart tugging scenes. Each recap was thought provoking, leaving me with a better appreciation of the history of Hangeul and with an admiration for King Sejong - not only the actors playing him but more importantly the real historical figure. Once again, Thanks! :)

orangy911, Thank you for your inspiring recaps of "Me Too, Flower". Like many, I did not originally plan to watch this drama. But your recap of that episode (4?) where Cha Bong Sun in tears called her therapist saying she wished it was not her and your comments about this drama's tackling the topic of depression, convinced me this drama had an intriguing unique story that was worth watching. Indeed, I found this drama worth watching and fun, all thanks to you! Hope to read another recap from you soon. Thanks again! :)

P.S. I also would like to thank gummimochi who together with JB are delivering very entertaining recaps of "High Kick 3" every week. Thanks much gummimochi for sharing your time and talent in recapping this weekday drama. Even though I've not seen the first 2 seasons, I'm thoroughly enjoying this season's "High Kick" through your and JB engaging recaps. Keep up the excellent recaps! By the way, is it just my imagination or are you using some special screen snap software so that I find Yoon Kye-sang cuter each week? ;-)

Special thanks also goes to JB and GF for their always hilarious recaps of 1N2D. I could not forget that very funny (i.e. I got a stomach ache laughing so hard) recap of the episode where Lee Sung-gi had to take a bath while dressed up as a woman.

samsooki has been brilliant on the 2 reviews he did that i have read. the 1st was city hall that he did when it was running. i had actually watch the drama before reading, but my sister had turned me on to him. It was the 1st review i had read on dramabean. samsooki made me a dramabean groupie!!! he also did a great review of my name is kim sam soon/my lovely sam soon. even though it was 6 years later. i was thrilled that he did that review since it is my favorite k-drama. i had to go back & watch it 1 more time because i wanted to experience it w/his telling of the story. samsooki has also been kind enough for those of us who aren't korean to break down the cultural intricacy that we didn't understand. much props to samsooki. can't wait to read more of his reviews.

I had no interest in the drama (being law-related and starring people I didn't have previous experience with) but they changed my mind! Reading their recaps was what convinced me to go try it out for myself and I actually really liked it! So kudos to them!
