Sung Yuri takes the lead in Feast of Gods

So it looks like Sung Yuri has signed onto Feast of the Gods after all, the upcoming weekend drama about two warring chefs in the kitchen. The drama has already cast Seo Hyun-jin (The Duo) as the rival chef, and the two ladies will go head to head in a battle for the coveted position of executive chef in their restaurant when the position suddenly opens up. They’ll be rivals in love as well, of course, and Joo Sang-wook (TEN) and Lee Sang-woo (Thousand Day Promise) have been cast as the two boys they’ll be fighting over. Now THAT’s a dilemma I’d be happy to have.

Sung Yuri plays a chef with a talent for recreating any dish she tastes, because she’s endowed with perfect taste. Okay, what the frack, with the perfect taste around here? Does everyone and their mother have this so-called rare gift? (It’s apparently like perfect pitch, where you can taste each distinct flavor and identify it on cue.) Let’s see, both Ramyun Boys Chwa Chi-soo and Onion Boy have it, Song Il-kook’s got it in Fermentation Family, and now Sung Yuri too? It’s like the friggin’ genius parade. Sigh. Why’s everyone gotta be a genius-whatever? Where have all the average joes gone?

Sung Yuri was in Romance Town earlier this year, and has since filmed her zoolandery rom-com with Kang Ji-hwan, due out next year.

Feast of the Gods will air on Saturday-Sunday, and premieres in February on MBC.

Hey, at least it's a female food-taste genius this time. We always get male geniuses but I can't think of any female genius right now.

I love Yuri, despite the fact that i don't like most of her projects. She really needs a hit rom-rom. The last few sucks!

I'm not too fond of the male leads. Wish they would cast someone who has a bigger screen status. Before it even starts, it already looks like it doesn't look that interesting.

I was distracted by many side stories my sympathy for Yuri has been diluted. Also the story seem to be dragging for her situation, waiting for most other characters 'story closure.Of course it wasn't her fault -blame the scriptwriter for giving us the twirl .

I like Hong Gil Dong in spite of other side stories, hers was thoughtfully and carefully intertwined with the rest . It was the story of the Hong sisters that is why it was good.

My reaction to all of these leads is they are so........low key, maybe?

Not spotlight stealers IRL or on dramas.

I am curious to see if any of them are given instructions to let go, especially the male leads. Otherwise I feel like it'll be a big intense stare off the whole time, with Sung Yuri providing the counter-wide-eyed reaction.

I guess in SK it isn't that sex sells, but food. It is a little overwhelming to have all those shows about eating.
Was it the success of BKTG that sent them all in that direction?

I love both male actors, but i think their talent will be wasted when i read the synopsis : Definitely low-key and average and boring and déjà vu. ( And i'm sure it's gonna be 50 eps ). If i had time to waste, i'd rather rewatch Pasta as a food drama. Saw the girl in Romance Town, wasn't bad but not terrific either to be true. If someone at DB wants to be a guinea's pig on this one, please do : I'm sure it will redeem your karma. Yes, i'm mean and very resentful : MBC knows why...

How does she keep getting these starring roles? None of the dramas she has starred in did very well. I was looking forward to this because of the two male leads but now I definitely won't be watching.

Talk about needing someone with a bigger screen status - she isn't it.

Watch Hong Gil Dong and you'll change your mind.

Rating sometimes is not a good indicator of what is good or bad/or not doing well. The Nielsen rating system need to be overhauled.

There are many factors to consider . Who happens to be ahead of your drama, or there are so many choices of almost equal stature at same time. Now with cable TV dramas , the big 3 TV stations will soon feel the pinch.

SY was nearly unwatchable in HGD (and KJH wasn't much better).

Granted, neither was helped by a mediocre script from the Hong sisters.

in kdramaland, it's not all just about talent, you need a powerful mc to get you the lead roles.

Yes, he is charming. But i prefer to wait for " TEN ", the dark police drama. Frankly more interesting to play for him, and to watch for us. I just hope that here he can learn some cuisine tricks to use at home so that all is not for waste.

I was sort of hoping that they'd pick someone else, but alas...

I don't know, I don't think she's offensively bad, but everything I've seen her in, she's left me cold. And with a cast that's otherwise so appealing, I'd hate for the female lead to be the one that I find lackluster.

On a side note, maybe it's because of the shared syllable and the angle in the shots above, but Joo Sang-wook and Lee Sang-woo look like brothers. Wait...they're not gonna be brothers in the drama, are they? I'll bash my head in if they do that.

This drama is awesome. It is about Korean crusine and tradition. It helps to promote Korea's culture and Tourism indusry giving doors of opportunity to YuRi to be the ambassador. YuRi sets a new image for herself in this most beautiful drama as she moves the next level of achievement. She will emerge as the next best actress in the near future. She is one that can climb mountains with increasing strength and never give up too soon. Her performance in this drama is phenomenol. When the going get tough, the tough (YuRi) gets going.

Love the character of In Wu (Tae Hyun) who gives DY (YuRi) the confidence to pick up her shaterred pieces of her childhood life and showing her brotherly love. He shines in this most beautiful drama breaking the ice. His bold and arrogant character open his parents wounded hearts once again to able to love and accept their real daughter DY.
