Can someone put these ceremonies in perspective for me. Like what US award shows are they similar to? Do they hold the same awards for different broadcast companies instead of one big one that celebrates, for example, all tv shows?

intead of making up some 1234567 random, broadcaster-based, biased-as-hell, fan-voted and glitzy show... how about one big, legit, impartial, independent Film & TV awards, judged fairly (by actors, film-makers and other professionals) to rule, find and bring them all, Korea?

Yeah that's the only thing I wait for from almost any Korean drama/film awards, to read javabean's snarkiness about the red carpet. You know the award itsef can become a bit "meaningless".

I was so sad when i heard of this. I always liked to see this event cause i love Song Yoon Ah, and she always did pretty performance for this awards. Besides it's so hard to see her nowadays that this was my almost one and only opportunity. U.U...At least, the cancellation it's not final or definitive.

Eh, most of the awards are pretty much popularity contests anyways.

I chuckled when the writer for "Secret Garden" won awards last year.

does that mean that actors and actresses that done drama for MBC can't win awards this year? that's too bad, they've work so hard though...but i think i'm more waiting for KBS and SBS's award shows...thos 2 have dramas that topped this year in my opinion...

Like stars haven't gotten enough swags from awards shows and some... too bad there isn't a super billionaire fan of the arts in Korea willing to sponsor this award show.

I always thought it was stupid how each network has it's own awards show. Imagine if each country had their own olympics. Fun, maybe, but not nearly as meaningful. Everyone just sitting around patting their own backs or bending over and kissing their own... well, you get the point. It's a joke. But I guess you cant lose if you don't compete. Essentially I agree with Aya above. Get real and have one real awards show, for all tv programs, and have a big film awards show with the money saved.

OMG! I JUST discovered Korean dramas and I can't get enough! Deciding to find out more of the background I find this article?? I can't believe it. Certainly if the American fans knew you had this need we would be throwing money at you. Can't you bring this problem more publicity so American fans can support you? 200k is a drop in the bucket. The kids here probably spend more than that in a day on energy drinks! And I'm not a kid!! As a Christian woman, I think your films are far better for our culture than the disgusting ignorant junk we put out. YOU should be making the millions we give our so called "actors" We need more stuff showing family values, traditions, respect, honor and thank God you guys have the deceny to keep your clothes on!!!
