Kim Haneul’s minimalist shoot for Vogue Girl

Sometimes my favorite shoots are the simple ones — no frills, no crazy high-fashion concepts, no bird’s-nest hairdos. Here’s a sneak peek at Kim Haneul‘s latest photo shoot for Vogue Girl, looking the best I’ve ever seen her. It’s what any girl will confess is the hardest look to pull off — appearing effortlessly, naturally beautiful. The universe has a cruel sense of humor about how much effort it takes to look effortless.

Great, now I’m going to be stuck in that oxymoronic quandary for the rest of the day. There goes my Friday afternoon…

"The universe has a cruel sense of humor about how much effort it takes to look effortless." <--- TRUE WORDS

She's aging so gracefully. Her haircuts didn't look so great back then but now she's so beautiful.

I love the second pic. It has this demure feel to it.

Love the soft, contemplative feel the the photos. The gorgeous lighting really brings out the best in her face. Effortless beauty indeed, *sigh*.

i think it's sad if you need to try that hard just to look "natural"

It's just a well-known truth in the beauty industry. "Natural" makeup requires such a delicate, deft touch, especially because the light used for such shoots won't be forgiving. Hence, "natural" looks require much more time, effort, and skill to create.

When women get to be of Kim Ha Neul's age, very few women will be gifted naturally even, plump, dewy looking skin. There will be sun damage for even women who've tried their darnest to stay out of the sun, red blotches of irritated skin, bigger pores despite masks and treatments all because those pores have had more years for stuff to clog and widen them, perhaps even scars from having popped zits she ought not to have, and so on.

If you still think this is sad, then, you'll find aging very sad and pathetic.

Damn!!! There are times when realism shouldn't be included in a conversation...let us dream of a better tomorrow, a miracle of science ...the elixir of youth. Or a brand new ozone layer :) ...whatever it takes

Yeeh, you ruined my afternoon u.u

and btw, i don't think aging has all to do with outer beauty. if that's all your concerned about, then I find YOU to find aging very "sad and pathetic".

I think she's joking.

Also, let's remember the context for this post. It originated as a comment about the manipulation of artifice, about the use of makeup and light to simulate the semblance of youth for the camera, and about the incompatibility between the beauty industry's demands and the reality of aging.

Hahhhaha. There are always new treatments in development. The latest ones involve stimulating collagen production without surgery.

But I like the idea of a brand new ozone layer. It'll be good for more than just vanity. Melikes the idea of frogs noisily doing their thing for at least several more centuries, perhaps even millennia.

By doing their thing you mean ...THE thing? LOL...

Yeah, inner beauty is always the best and the most important, but when you've already got that you can't help but look the external one ;)

0

True beauty lasts forever. Inner beauty is a glow, a radiance that shines from within. Susan Sarandon has that. It is a beauty that defies age and time.

0

There is a difference between the inner beauty that shines through and preparing someone to look a certain way for the camera. Susan Sarandon - bless her for she's just a lovely human being - still has makeup and hair people prep her, photog assistants adjust the lighting to best reflect off her great bone structure, and the chosen image retouched whenever she has photo shoots.

Perhaps there are people here who're still young and easily influenced who need to be told or reminded of the value of inner beauty. However, do you people not get that those who are going on about external beauty are being tongue-in-cheek? That they're joking around? That they know beauty of the human soul is far more meaningful than ephemeral physical beauty? That they know that our world does place a great premium on that physical beauty, precisely because it's fleeting? That they know that makeup is artifice, that standards of beauty are wack, that we're nonetheless complicit to some degree in perpetuating those standards, and that they've likely made their peace with artifice and decided to have fun with it? That ultimately you're probably preaching to the choir? A choir that's far more well-versed than you can imagine?

Laugh. Those who're being cheeky certainly are. And as experts will tell ya, laughter does wonders for one's beauty - both external and internal.

You got it girl... XD

Talking about old beauties full of inner glow, for me one of them will always be Meryl Streep...But then, they are still humans trying to delight human eyes so make up and photoshop are part of their lives too...

In the second photo I feel like she's ready to curl up on a window sill and read a book on a rainy afternoon with a cup of coffee by her side.

Old? This girl is old? Pleeeeaaase! If she's 50 then she really looks fabulous. If she's 25, she's just plain beautiful. Whatever her age, she is stark, raving beautiful.

The photos are incredible and I would buy whatever she is selling if it would make me look even a smidgen'[s worth like her!
