Kim Sae-ron picks her second drama project

Kim Sae-ron has lined up her next project, which happens to be her second drama role: She’ll be taking a lead role in a cable drama — dayum, cable is taking over the world! — called Heavenly Garden.
The project is described as a “moving human drama” that unfolds around a pure-spirited mother raising two daughters in difficult circumstances in rural Gangwon-do. Kim Sae-ron plays one of those girls, a studious, straightforward girl named Eun-soo. Cast as her family members are veteran actor and familiar grandpa from numerous dramas, Choi Bool-am (Gourmet, Smile You), while Yoo Ho-jung (Neighbor Enemies) plays mom.
Heavenly Garden looks to be a fairly ambitious project for general cable station Channel A, and comes from director Lee Jong-han, who did the most recent adaptation of epic saga Toji in 2004.
According to producers, Kim Sae-ron, already at top star level despite her youth, was their top pick, and her participation “raises the quality of our drama.” No argument there; she’s proved herself several times over in movies like A Brand New Life and Ajusshi / The Man From Nowhere, and then won hearts as a precocious daughter in Can You Hear My Heart? And while her little sisters Ah-ron and Ye-ron may try to challenge unni in the budding-child-actress department, they’ll have big shoes to fill/follow, since so far Se-ron’s miles ahead with her charm and her sensitivity.
Prepare to have your hearts warmed, and stolen. Again.

Do cable dramas use live shoots? Are they all pre-produced so they don't have those crazy long hours?

Depends on the drama. I believe Joseon X-Files shot its finale during the middle of the run, but it wasn't shooting the week of airing like a lot of broadcast dramas. I don't think Vampire Prosecutor is done filming, either.
Cable shows may not be entirely pre-produced but they tend to have better hours -- probably helps that a lot of them air once a week, rather than twice. tvN may be an exception with its Mon-Tues slot, but Birdie Buddy happens to be pre-produced so it doesn't affect that drama.

nothing like a rational shooting schedule. to my knowledge, there is like a 3-6 week buffer here, with some exceptions like south park, but they aim for timely comedy. i heard they finished the presidential election episode about an hour before it aired. this has to be a major reason so many stars are heading to cable. who wants an IV when you have a CF shoot in the morning?

Ah...Thanks for the answer. So, it is better than the MBC/SBS/KBS drama shooting style. But..it is not that much improved either. I feel sad for the entire tv film environment. These folks in the television industry have to work very hard to earn their money.
For Taiwanese drama, even if they are pre-produced, they still need to film night and day because there is a limited budget. The longer the filming days, the higher the costs.
The same with mainland chinese dramas. They all film in difficult situations and some actors even film multiple dramas at the same time.
Sad :(

I just finished this drama a few hours ago. Such a good one! definitely gonna miss Dong Joo and Woo Ri :( . Sae Ron did a great job for young Woo Ri. Although I found there is no resemblance whatsoever between the young one to the older version.. lols.. oh well... it's a drama anyway.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw! She's so adorkable. Yay for her. And yay for Yoo Ho Jung. It's been a while since I've seen her in something I actually liked. I should watch Definitely Neighbors now to wait for this drama - added bonus that Son Hyun-joo is in it. X)

Do cable stations have award shows at the end of the year, like MBC, SBS and KBS?! it would be interesting to know since most of the greatest Dramas are made under Cable :)
