Flower Boy Ramyun Shop’s press conference

Yum yum yum.

The cast of tvN’s new Flower Boy Ramyun Shop showed up for their drama’s production press conference on October 27 at Seoul’s CGV theater, and they’re all looking adorable. And while lead actress Lee Chung-ah is looking fresh and flirty, I can tell you she’s not the one(s) I’m looking at.

Why hellooooo there, Jung Il-woo! I love that he’s playing the youngest role he has in years, while Lee Ki-woo just got out of the army, and yet they look the same age. Even if their characters — the Ramyun Princes? We need a nickname, stat — have got to be about a decade apart.

As you probably know by now, the drama is a romantic comedy centered around a ramyun shop: The heroine runs it, a talented chef cooks at it, and a high school chaebol owns it. On top of that, a staff of young pretty boys is brought in to work at it. It’s Coffee Prince-esque in setup, except with a different configuration of the main love triangle. I’ve seen enough boss-assistant romances where the woman’s always the assistant, so I’m looking forward to seeing one where the heroine’s the noona to our hero. He may have his chaebol weight behind him, but she’s got age privileges, and that means she’s got a certain ability to boss him around some, too. I can’t wait.

The drama is directed by Pyo Min-soo, who is a respected PD who hasn’t really had a ratings hit in years but whose projects I find refreshing, each in their own way. He’d struck it big (huge, enormous) with young love in Full House, then went after slower, more thoughtful work for a while (Insoon is Pretty, The World They Live In), but has been coming back round to lighter, more comical material (Coffee House, You’ve Fallen For Me). I think he has a pretty good hand with youthful romance, so I’m hoping he brings out all the fun and zest that a premise like this has to offer.

Aside from the main trio, the drama also features a cast of new faces, starting with actress Ho-su, who appears to be making her drama debut in this project. The trio of actors posing together are Do Sang-woo, a 23-year-old model and vocalist; Song Jae-rim, a 26-year-old model and actor from movies Grand Prix and Actresses; and newbie Jeon Bong-hyun.

Pictured below them are Park Min-woo and Jo Yoon-woo, two more new faces with fresh resumés.

Flower Boy Ramyun Shop premieres on tvN on October 31 and airs on Mondays and Tuesdays.

I know Jung Il-woo is very tall but the second lead guy is taller. I wonder how tall he is. He looks so CUTE! I never see him in any drama. I still love Jung Il-woo. And I just spot another cutie in the grey suit at the right hand corner before the last pix. This drama is full of cuties. Swoon!

Thank you so much for the info MJ. I really appreciated. He looks like he is about 24 and he is actually 30 already? He had all that dramas and movies done and I did not know of him. Where have I been? Actually I saw A Love to Kill and only remember Rain for some reason but did not recognize who Lee Ki-Woo was. I have to go back and watch that drama again. How can I miss such a cutie like him.

Me too! Totally cracked up. I'm so stoked for this. Especially as I marathoned episodes 18 to 22 of TPM last night and went to bed crying for my favorite character, Jung (and Kyung-hye, they come as a pair). Seriously, drawn and quartered?????? ACK! I know it happened, but it still is a total shock to the system.

I should say...have only made it through Episode 2 because sometime within the last 2 weeks someone uploaded all episodes (in good quality, too!) with Eng subs of Sang Doo, Let's Go to School and I'm on Episode 7 of that :) Yay Rain! I think this is the only series I hadn't seen anything of so far and I couldn't find it anywhere, viki etc all had broken links, every where I checked.

Hmmm I suggest 'Raawwr Yum Men' could apply too....

Wholy skyscraper - Lee Ki Woo is taaaallllll. He makes Jung Il-Woo look short. While I am still not able to endure 'Star Lover' to finish it (really my eyeballs protested in pity for Choi Ji Woo's eyeballs and could not focus at all...at all) I have always found his roles suprisingly memorable. Esp 'Sad Story'

And if they ever need to cast a sibling for LKW I would vote first for cutey Kim Bum (who is also looking mighty fine(r) and as I am convienently a member of ICOMYM, I chose to keep oogling!)

i love jung il-woo and all but i'm actually in for LEE KI-WOO. I know he's never really played outstanding roles, but I love the actor. he's got this refreshing feel. i've had this crush on him since 'bad women' (where kim bum was in too!!)

is it just me or did lee chung ah really had a lot of stuff done on her face? she looks hella different from her temptation of wolves days! i think she did something to her eyes, nose, cheekbones, and chin. but hey, she looks great!

I almost didn't recognize her!!! But yes, she's the same girl from Temptation of Wolves. I think she did get subtle work done on her face. She looked innocent, naive and a bit countrified before, and she still has that gentle look, but now she looks more sophisticated. I agree she looks "better" now, but she also looks more generic with her unique characteristics ironed out.

I was trying to get my finger on why she looks so different, and now I know why. I think she got Botox injections to narrow her jawline. She had a more squarish jaw line before. I don't think she did anything to her cheekbones though. She probably also got work on her nose. The tip of her nose looks slightly pointier. I remember her nose was slightly more droopy/dipped before. I think she got an injection for her nose as well. Her eyes look brighter and more awake now too. I remember her eyes looked a little sleepy before. That could be just me though.

All in all, I think that's it. I don't necessarily think she got plastic surgery, though. Probably just injections for her nose and jaw.

she wasn't that fat in accidental couple. i think she did lose weight - 10lbs, give or take. but still, losing the few extra pounds won't make her jawline that pointed and her cheekbones that defined.

but hey, she really looks REALLY great so i don't care if she had a lot done on her face. just saying she looks different, that's all.

i think she did more than botox on her jawline. it's much pointed now. maybe a bit of contouring? and her cheeks were a lot chubbier then! maybe she lost weight but i still think she did a lil sculpting around the cheeks. but her, im no plastic surgeon so that's just me.

i have to say, korean plastic surgeons are dang good! been to korea twice and i've seen before & after ads plastered around subway stations -- and every single time, my friends and i were dumbfounded how a person can look soooo different yet not look too plastic.

are we even supposed to see anyone else standing beside handsome, quiet, giant lee ki woo? his serious demeanor adds mystery to his person, makes me want to know more about him. he is a giant, but he looks like he is a softie at heart. if i do check out this drama it would be to watch this giant teddy bear.

On closer inspection (hey I ain't nothin' if not thorough for oggling I mean quality control of the main male cast) - WTF is with the hairstyles?

Was there a meeting between mass wind gust and hairspray factory explosion which curiously only struck one side of the head? Dead kiwi convention? Really!??

I mean this is soo distracting and detracts from the fine faces. Fashion I can ignore *ahem 2nd male trio* but faces? Please please please I hope this just the 'promo hair helmet' and that 'really flattering (or at least flatter) hair' is coming onboard during the drama . But hey I am a team player and will tough it out and take one for the DB team and keep on oggling..I mean checking on standards.
