Park Shi-yeon announces November wedding
by javabeans
Another celebrity ties the knot: Park Shi-yeon has played the bride several times (once in Story of a Man, pictured above, and again in Coffee House), and it’s her turn to be one in real life. She has just announced her upcoming wedding to a non-celebrity, as well as her plans to hold the ceremony on November 19 at Seoul’s Hyatt Hotel.
Naturally, everyone’s curious to know who the groom is, and according to Park’s agency, he is identified only as Mr. Park, an ordinary office employee who works in the stocks and securities industry. The couple’s relationship was first rumored back in March, and has since turned serious.
Park Shi-yeon said in a statement via her agency, “I’m sorry to be conveying my wedding news through a press release like this. I’d like to set a good example in my happy marriage and family, and will do my best. I hope you’ll wish me well.”
Aw, yay for her! I used to think Park was just a pretty face who got acting offers because of her looks (admittedly, she was awful in her debut drama, My Girl), but she has gotten so much better in recent years and was just charming and winning in last year’s Coffee House. That made me a fan, and I loved how she portrayed a successful, confident businesswoman who wasn’t, for once, a bitch. (Why is that such a hard thing to find in dramaland? It shouldn’t be.)
Park’s current project is a “thriller sex comedy” called Scent of a Woman (absolutely no relation to the recent drama series), in which she stars alongside Park Hee-soon and Joo Sang-wook. The men play detectives, the former ending up as a suspect thanks to Park’s involvement, leading his junior colleague to chase him as well. The movie plans to release next year.

It would be seriously creepy if she wore a Grace Kelly dress again.
But what on Earth is a "thriller sex comedy"??? Does not compute...

Based on her appearance on FO, PSY actually seems quiet and a bit timid (she let Hyori dominate her), but that may be due in part to her health issues.
Congrats to PSY - her role in CH was certainly an eye-opener (she stole the show from her co-stars).

lol yeah~ i was a fan ever since--or right after My Girl when I watched Fox Family. so i've always been fond of her and hated it when people referred to her as "eric's gf all the time. when she and Eric broke up, i was actually happy for her. so yah, that's what I thought when i heard she met someone with marriage intentions. Bye Eric~!

I love how celebs can marry non-celebs. It kinda reminds us that they are people just like everyone else. That acting is a job just like every other job out there. Celebs the marry other Celebs just like other people who found someone at their work place..
I'm happy that PSY found someone special to share her life with. I wish her happiness!
PS- also thought her debut in 'my girl' wasn't soo great. but you have to start somewhere right?

That was what I was wondering as well. I don't get why celebrities even have to tell the public/media they are getting married. Personally I would just get hitched and then let them discover it on their own lol.

Yeah, that doesn't seem to over really well in Korea. There's often a backlash associated with "secret" relationships, I guess that some fans feel "betrayed"? I don't understand that, but K-culture fandom can be crazy.

Sorry but have to disagree. Best for the celeb to announce their marriage, otherwise public may not be happy or feel cheated/disgusted when they thought he/she were single and dating and then found out he/she is going through an ugly divorce later... Passing judgement is messy!
After all, it's a happy news. Happiness should be shared.. ^_~

Does anyone else remember the Family Outing episode where they were talking about polls that they came first in and she was voted as the No.1 celebrity most likely not to get married until the age of 40 or 50 ?
Guess she prove all those people wrong lol. ANYWAYS - CONGRATULATIONS to her and may her marriage be one filled with love and happiness ^^

Good for her! Marrying a non-celebrity is probably a very smart move, I'd say; when one partner is awash in the wild tides of the entertainment industry, I think it's very good for a successful long-term relationship to have the other one provide a more steady, down-to-earth counterbalance.
I hope they'll be very happy. :-)
I've loved her ever since Coffee House, and hope to see her in a drama again soon. She really is a good actress, and I'd love to see her play a strong, quirky and extraordinary heroine like that again!

Congrats to her and groom-to-be.
Shotgun wedding?
I liked her in "Family Outing" S1, and especially the part where she and Hyori challenge each other ripping those plastic wrap screens w/ their faces. Her face was distorted in a hilarious way to the point where Hyori tried to take care of her and covered her face away from the camera. Hyori is a good confidant.

“thriller sex comedy”
I'm pretty sure they have a genre roulette wheel in the back room somewhere. When they are looking for something new, they just give it a spin.
"sports fantasy romance"
"historical sex horror"
"mystery comedy drama"
"slice-of-life medical action"
