Mr. Idol’s posters, stills, and teaser

It’s the era of the idol singer (seriously, Korea’s practically drowning in idols these days), so it’s only appropriate that we start making them the focus of dramas (see: Dream High and the upcoming and hopefully hilarious Vampire Idol) and movies like this one, Mr. Idol.
The plot of Mr. Idol centers around a star-making “dream variety show”; Kim Su-ro (God of Study) and Park Ye-jin (My Princess) put together a boy band called Mystery Children, made up of four young men from different backgrounds. The members are all troublemakers of sorts, and the movie tracks their progress from motley crew to popular success.
The movie, which releases in October, stars Ji Hyun-woo (A Thousand Kisses, Birth of the Rich) and Park Jae-bum, which seems appropriate; Ji started out as the guitarist in pop-rock band The Nuts, while Park is formerly of idol band 2PM. In the supporting cast, you’ve got another musician in Kim Randy, a member of Electroboyz, a rap/hip-hop group that debuted last year. The fourth member of the fictional movie band is Jang Seo-won, whom you may recall as one of Ha Ji-won’s stuntman buddies in Secret Garden.
Here’s the trailer:
(Hee. The tag is pretty funny, with Park Ye-jin giving her newly assembled boys their first lesson: “This is the fundamental element of all dance.” Her “instructor” demonstrates a floppy handstand, then tells the group, “I don’t have the fundamentals down. Why not? Because I’m not an idol. You guys try.”)
The character posters below give us more of a glimpse into each member’s personality. Ji Hyun-woo plays the group’s leader Eugene, whose poster bears the tagline, “All I have to give is my singing!” (What about the abs? You’re an idol, surely your abs count for at least half your appeal, with the moody emo guyliner netting another 10 percent.)
Below that, there’s Park Jae-bum playing dancer Jio, whose poster reads, “Body quicker than words, a dancing machine!” (Surely abs will play a role here as well, no? Sure, his are covered up below, but he’s wearing mesh in the top poster, which, despite its affront to all fashion, is almost the same as going without a top altogether.)
Randy Kim plays rapper Ricky, and has the tagline, “I learned Korean through rapping!” (Is that like Woo-bin learning English via rapping in Boys Before Flowers? ‘Cause I’m pretty sure “Yo yo ma bro” doesn’t constitute language skill. Let’s hope Ricky’s version yields better results.)
And then there’s vocalist Hyun, a former noraebang CEO played by Jang Seo-won whose poster has the copy, “A superstar, discovered by Taejin and raised by Geumyoung!” (They’re karaoke machine names.)

he was pretty funny in invincible lee pyeong kang. not that great when he was supposed to make angsty dramatic faces, but he was still a lot better than most prettyboy actors out there.

I almost faint when I saw those abs, and also when I saw that the owner was actually him! :o
He looks so different! I really have a caring for him after seeing 5 of his projects... He was the reason why I started watching A Thousand Kisses.

I thought he was pretty much a dud in Birth of the Rich, and I almost didn't recognize him in the poster (idol makeup). Agree Jay Park is a bonus...since it's a movie, might give it a look.

Is it just me, or does Park Ye-jin have the same facial expression in every single picture she's in? But then, she seemed to have the same facial expression all through My Princess. Maybe the girl can't help it.

Wow, Ji Hyun Woo has some great bod.....and I'm really disappointed that this is the first time that I'm getting a look at them despite having seen quite a few of his dramas...this also means that I will be playing much closer attention to his character in 1000 kisses, its unfortunate that we haven't had one abilicious scene for him and it make me wonder if the creatives there are more biased towards the hot ahjussi (shower and sauna scenes for Ryu Jin so far and nothing for Ji Hyun Woo)....I'm disapointed in you Dramagods!!

I'm not going to lie, this looks totally AWESOME. And I'm not going to pretend it's for any other reason than the hot boys dancing around. Yes, I am that shallow.
Still, I hope it goes a little deeper than just skin-deep; it has the potential to make some real commentary on the idol craze these days.

I'm super excited for this movie. I hope it's not one of those cases where the trailer is 100% more exciting than the film, because the trailer looks BANGIN'!!
I've been anticipating since I saw Kim Sooro, Jang Hyuk, and Solbi singing on IS2 with Jay Park.
A subtle little promo for their upcoming film, imo, but very effective.

What!? What do you mean about "Yo yo ma bro" not being English? I thought that was a line straight out of Shakespeare's "Othello".
I'm a total sucker for idol-viewing, much to my ever-lasting shame. So, I'll be watching this one, fer shure...
P.S. Jay Park and his torso (when oiled up) are beyond unreal. He's not particularly good-looking, but I rarely look at his face, so who cares?
I know. I'm going to hell, but at least I'll be smiling...

i actually thought the guy was lee joon from mblaq. after looking at the posters and stuff im quite interested!!! it wouldnt be as apealing if the guys were actually idols....then thats jst calling for fangirls to go flock to the cinema. altho jay park could be classified as an idol.....he does have good talent however. looks fnny!!! the trailer was rubbish until the end, i thought. cant wait!

I've seen these photos before, but not having read any information on the movie, this whole time I thought the guy on the left in the first pic was Lee Joon from MBLAQ!
Only upon looking more closely do I realize this guy is taller and a tad more muscular. But dang, the resemblance between the two guys is uncanny!

Aw. I'm pretty sure I would want this to be longer than a movie, but maybe if it's a 16-episode drama it wouldn't turn out as good as it could be (like most dramas). Anyway, so we'll get some abs, some guyliners, definitely some mangled English lyrics, weird idol getups, etc. Hope this comes with a great OST!

Jay Park had a role in a previous American movie. I'm not sure about the name of it (Hip Hop Nation?).

I doubt it. When we do get movies they're usually limited to where they're shown (most I've seen is 5-6 major cities). Dramacrazy does have some movies, maybe they'll sub and air this after awhile.

I know. I thought exactly the same thing. It always makes me laugh when Asian stars (especially Chinese actors/actresses) have English names like Percival or Horatio and they think it's really cool. People who speak English as their first language just think: DORKY!

I let out an embarrassing "Eeeee!" when I saw this post. I tend to stay away from films from the "You Got Served" genre but this one, I'm all for mainly because of my newly-found love (or obsession, whatever) with Jay Park!

I don't mean to be rude, but aside from Jay, aren't the other members a bit...old? Well, "old" in the sense that it's not very realistic to have them be portrayed as members of an idol group.
Most idol groups debut young, and reach their peak without a single member in his/her 30's. The South Korean entertainment industry is currently flooded with younger idols. I just wonder if this movie wouldn't be better off with a younger cast or different concept (e.g. rock band rather than idol group).
Yoon Sang-Hyun's character in "My Fair Lady"/"Take Care of Agasshi" is a good example of how the credibility of a drama's plot could be compromised by an unrealistic character. Yoon is hilarious, and a wonderful actor...but he's not cut out to play an idol.

this will be the greatest++...not because of the all movie..but because in it has the gorgeus Chocolate:3 abs Gods eveeer!! ahaha xD..i hope this kinds of movies keep coming because in the future may will be better futures k pop gods..and 4 ever always!!ehehe..im naughty i now!!
