You’ve Fallen For Me: Episode 11

Photobucket

It’s all dates and scandals in this episode. One of the strengths of this series is the comedy and the young romance – Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa really sell it when it comes to the romance because they are comfortable around each other – on and off screen. The melodramatics? Not so much. All this scandal-mongering from Team Hee-joo is actually quite banal…

This has got to be the most awkward kiss ever. Eyes wide open as they peck each other on the lips and frozen as statues. But the girls scream “GET AWAY FROM SHIN!!!” like no other. Bo-woon arrives (HA!) with the other Windflower girls to see this shocking scene.

Shin pulls away, and tells Kyu-won she’s in big trouble now. And he goes back to his seat and starts singing “You’ve Fallen for Me.” How appropriate! And he only has eyes for Kyu-won. Suddenly, because he’s singing his hit song, everyone’s back to rocking out without a care in the world.

They walk home, holding hands. Kyu-won is a tad worried she may need to wear a swimming cap tomorrow to protect her hair, but she trusts Shin when he promises that nothing will happen. He wants to see her go in first. Even though all she has to do is open the door, he’s worried she may trip over the door going in. Ha!

And before she leaves, he kisses her on the forehead and bids her goodnight. That sends her running into her house. EEEP so cute! I love Shin’s bashful smile after he kisses her too.

Too bad she needs to report to Grandpa, who wants to know why she came home late. She makes up the excuse that she couldn’t get a part on the gayageum right, and was practicing all night. As soon as she enters her room though, she starts giggling like a fool. Shin goes home, whistling, and his mother catches on. She offers him two tickets to an art gallery, and he eagerly snatches them. When he goes into his room, he can’t stop smiling like a fool either. Aww – why is this couple so cute?

Hilariously, as soon as Shin calls Kyu-won, she fixes her hair and straightens her clothes – as if he’s going to see her over the phone. Pfft. He tries to act cool, saying that he can’t throw away these tickets his mom gave him, so he invites her to go to the art gallery. Kyu-won: “I don’t really want to go, but we can’t throw them away.” (Oh my God it’s so hard to contain my giddiness right now…)

Suddenly Jung-hyun bursts into Shin’s room. He kissed Kyu-won!?!? (She heard from her friends.) He tells her to shut it, and he’ll pay for all those autographs and compensate her losses. In front of money, Jung-hyun shuts up. And she promises not to tell mom. When Shin goes to wash up, Jung-hyun realizes she might have just landed on a cash cow with this new development.

The next morning, Jung-hyun waits outside of Kyu-won’s home, giving her a fright when she goes out. She wants to talk to Grandpa and tell him allllll about Kyu-won and Shin going out, and kissing. Kyu-won’s eyes widen, and then Jung-hyun complains about no longer being able to make money from the autographs. So of course, Kyu-won says she’ll give her allowance. After all, they’re neighbors! Kyu-won initially offers $5 dollars, but Jung-hyun scoffs. Only $10 appeases her. For the day…

Yoon-su visits Seok-hyun at the office and notices him reading a postcard from a close friend back in the States. With a smile, Yoon-su asks if it’s the girl he had a scandal with back in Broadway. She admits she heard it through Tae-joon, and was afraid that it might become a serious rumor that could damage his reputation. Seok-hyun tells her not to worry about it.

Tae-joon instructs Young-min to spread the rumor that no one called for Hee-joo on the day of the performance for the sponsors – rather, the director didn’t call Hee-joo because he wanted Kyu-won onstage. Young-min isn’t too keen on lying, but Tae-joon threatens that the guy has a review coming up soon… Young-min goes running to spread the lie.

Kyu-won goes shopping early in the morning, trying to find something suitable to wear for her art gallery date. He notices her new dress – literally, because he sees the tag hanging from the back! So she totally helped Grandpa get music sheets riiight? And that dress seems so new! It must be trendy to wear tags on the back, huh?

Kyu-won dashes into the gallery, embarrassed like hell.

They go on the coolest – date ever. 3D paintings where you can actually step into them?! Did my Harry Potter dream come true in this drama or what!? She even catches Shin in an awkward pose as he bends down to tie his shoelaces, and there’s a painted cupid cupping his butt. Of course, she hurts herself again, bumping her head against one of the back of the paintings.

The school chancellor informs Seok-hyun about the rumors of Hee-joo never getting a call. Seok-hyun wants to confront her, but Hee-joo is out sick. He calls Hee-joo’s phone, and her mother picks up, but she hangs up on him. Soo-myung and Ki-young are shocked, and Soo-myung has his phone records to prove that he’s called her. Soo-myung wants to go and confront her, but Ki-young remembers that Hee-joo went somewhere with Jun-hee. They need to find him, fast.

Hee-joo is locked up at home until the whole scandal is over, but of her own choice. She calls up Jun-hee, and blames him for getting her in trouble. Eager to help her, she tells him to deny that he was ever with her that day, to anyone who asks. He is to feign ignorance about her phone being off or people searching for her. The devil…

During lunch, Shin asks why Kyu-won lives apart from her dad. She says it’s because her father and Grandpa fight way too much. Shin admits that he has a different father from Jung-hyun, but she already knows that. They find out that Jung-hyun has gotten a total of $30 from the both of them. Heh. When they go back to school holding hands, they have to part ways in the hallways, and Shin sends her off first. Kyu-won doesn’t think it’s dangerous in the hallways, but after seeing all those stares, she rethinks it and leaves first. No one touches a hair on her head under Shin’s watchful eye.

Soo-myung tracks Jun-hee down in the band practice room, but the drummer lies that he was never with Hee-joo. When Shin comes in, Soo-myung asks if Kyu-won is okay. There’s been some misunderstandings, and he mutters that some people can’t stand to see others succeed. He tells Shin to take care of Kyu-won at this time, and Jun-hee looks away, troubled.

The Three Angry Girls confront Kyu-won on the grounds; guess school’s not too safe after all! But they’re not just attacking her for getting together with Shin. Rather, they think that she’s seduced the director so that she could get the lead role. Things have only turned worse because Hee-joo won’t be coming into school, and so Kyu-won will have to do the practice as the main lead.

But Kyu-won knows she’s not doing anything wrong, and so she’s going to keep going to practice, even if it makes her look bad. As for Seok-hyun, Yoon-su is willing to talk to Tae-joon for him but Seok-hyun’s going to go to practice anyways. He doesn’t like that Tae-joon is using Kyu-won for his petty jealousies, but he can deal with it.

At practice, the rest of the actors think Kyu-won won’t show up, if she has any dignity. But she shows up. Her only supporters in the room? Ki-young and Shin. When Seok-hyun enters and calls for Kyu-won to step forward as lead, Shin notes the jeers in the room, and also wonders what Seok-hyun’s aim is.

After practice, he grabs Kyu-won aside – can she not do this performance? It’s not worth all this trouble and abuse, and Hee-joo will be in it anyways. But Kyu-won wants to stick with it. She’s actually having fun performing, even if she knows that she’s only an understudy. Also, if she leaves now, it will put Seok-hyun in an awkward position. She leaves, insisting that he stop thinking about things only in his perspective, and he gets a call from Seok-hyun.

Seok-hyun wants to listen to the ending song mix. He thinks that there’s too many stringed instruments in the piece – guitar and gayageum – but Shin sees no problem with it. Seok-hyun wants a little piano intro before the guitar, and since he’s the songwriter and overall director of the performance, Shin’s gotta do it.

Shin then asks if Kyu-won can be out of the performance, because he wants her to. Seok-hyun reminds him to not be so controlling – they just started going out.

Tae-joon visits Seok-hyun in the office, pretending that he doesn’t want any misunderstandings to arise between Seok-hyun and Hee-joo. Hmph. He wants a drink, since he’s been working soooo hard for Seok-hyun, and so the director goes out. Tae-joon steals Seok-hyun’s phone on his desk and quickly taps out a message to Kyu-won, telling her to meet him at the hotel at 7pm. Uh-oh…

Hee-joo’s mother is informed, and she texts the exact same message to Seok-hyun. Of course, he’ll go, since he wants to find out what Hee-joo’s mother wants. But Yoon-su comes into his office – they have a date at 6pm! Unfortunately he has to cancel on her again, and he comes up with the excuse that a journalist is here to interview him.

Shin comes home and bumps into Kyu-won and her father outside their house. The father decides to leave the two of them, noting their awkward glances and lack of eye-contact. When Shin asks, she says that she’s going to visit a friend that’s not Bo-woon. He apologizes again, and tells her to just do the musical if she likes it so much. He just didn’t want her getting hurt because of others.

She asks when he was born, and it turns out he’s three months younger than her. Therefore, he’s got no right to tell her what to do! And she can take care of herself, thanks very much!

Seok-hyun waits at the hotel bar, but no one arrives. He then spots Kyu-won coming in, and both are surprised to see each other. He’s puzzled when she says that he had texted her to meet.  When she shows him the proof, he realizes it’s the exact same message he got, and immediately he pricks up to the danger impending. He makes the excuse that he sent the text to the wrong person, and then rushes the both of them out of there. He pats her on the shoulder to rush her out, but too late – someone’s snapped a photo of them.

He warily exits the hotel, and the photographer catches the two of them exiting, and Seok-hyun’s hand behind Kyu-won’s back, guiding her away.

At home, Shin musters the courage to phone Kyu-won. She lies about being with her friend, even though she’s being driven home by Seok-hyun. Since she’ll be home soon, Shin decides to wait outside for her.

On the other hand, Seok-hyun is all preoccupied, wondering if anyone else knew she was meeting him. Only her dad knows about their meeting, but not the location. Seok-hyun’s lips tighten – he clearly knows and has experienced the repercussions of such an incident…

Shin sees Seok-hyun and Kyu-won walking up her street, and he quickly hides around the corner. Seok-hyun apologizes for putting her through all that trouble, and insists that he sent the text to the wrong person. He tells her not to worry about anything that may happen. (Whew – I’m glad someone’s lying to protect her, rather than to sabotage her.)

She texts Shin when she gets home, but he doesn’t reply. Perhaps he’s asleep? And he replies with a simple “Yeah.” 🙁 He’s actually moping outside her house, wondering why she lied to him and why she was with Seok-hyun.

The next morning, Jung-hyun is back! She wants to see Grandpa again, but Kyu-won is up to speed with her tricks. “You know what my grandpa’s wish is? It’s for me to get married so that he can see his great-grandson.” Kyu-won also adds that Grandpa really likes Shin for looking like him when he was younger. Heh – that’s enough to send Jung-hyun away!

At school, rumors have already spread of Kyu-won and Seok-hyun dating because of photos of them exiting a hotel. People look at Shin a little pitifully, and the Three Angry Girls tell him about Kyu-won “cheating” on him. The photos are incriminating alright, even though Soo-myung and Ki-young know that this can’t possibly be true. Soo-myung quickly suspects it’s Hee-joo behind all this.

Aaaand – Hee-joo comes back to school! Jun-hee catches her, and Hee-joo tells him that she can’t hang out with him anymore. If she does, she’ll never come back to school. What is she in, third grade? They can’t hang until the performance is over, and Jun-hee, the poor simple guy he is, agrees.

Shin chases Seok-hyun down, wanting an explanation for what happened last night. Seok-hyun sighs, immediately understanding that they were set up. He tells Shin he’ll take care of it, but Shin is too worried. This is exactly why he wanted Kyu-won out of the musical! He knew she’d end up getting hurt! He wants Seok-hyun’s car keys – he will keep Kyu-won away from the school for the day, until Seok-hyun resolves the problem.

Praise the Lord Almighty – Shin understands! No stupid misunderstandings and cold shoulders! Ack!

He hands it over, and with a sigh, he adds, “Please take care of Kyu-won.” Shin: “Do you only worry about Kyu-won? Shouldn’t you be thinking about how Professor Jung feels right now?”

He calls Kyu-won in time – she’s right outside the campus. He drives right up to her and makes up the excuse that the director especially asked him to take Kyu-won out. Ever since she got hurt, she’s been getting pummeled at all sides by her fellow classmates, and so Shin is going to take her out per director’s orders. Despite her insistence on not skipping class, she’s easily persuaded.

The phone rings, and Shin immediately guesses it’s Bo-woon. I mean, who else could it be? That girl has the best timing in the world! He confiscates her phone for the day.

Seok-hyun enters his office, where Yoon-su is waiting for him. He apologizes and tells her the truth, and Yoon-su figures out that they got set-up all because Hee-joo couldn’t perform that day in front of the sponsors. Seok-hyun thinks it’s unfair since Hee-joo will be starring in the actual show, but Yoon-su knows better: Hee-joo’s mother actually has no confidence in her daughter’s talents, and is afraid that Kyu-won truly is the more talented one.

Seok-hyun quitting will not solve the problem; he will have to tell Tae-joon that he’s taking Kyu-won out of the show. Of course, he doesn’t want to do that, but Yoon-su reminds him that Kyu-won isn’t his only student.

Shin and Kyu-won stop at a pit-stop for some lunch. He buys her a pair of awkward shades shaped like a TV, and then feeds her fries. Hee hee… She feeds him right back, and stuffs a bunch into his mouth. They play some of the arcade games – and Kyu-won proves to be way better than him. And thus they enjoy a wonderful day together!

Seok-hyun swallows up his pride and goes to Tae-joon. He denies there’s anything between him and Kyu-won, and that he’ll take Kyu-won out. They still need an understudy, so he’ll just pick anyone for it. Tae-joon can barely contain his smile, and says it’s all up to Seok-hyun. Though Seok-hyun thinks that will be enough for Hee-joo’s mother, Tae-joon says they’re all going to have a meeting about it soon.

At practice, the Three Angry Girls are now sympathetic and nicer to Hee-joo. After all, she must have suffered so much from Kyu-won’s backstabbing right? Ugh – excuse me while I go to the kitchen to grab some eggs to throw at them…

Jun-hee overhears this and looks quite uneasy. When Seok-hyun arrives for practice, he dismisses the bands, and then asks if Hee-joo’s feeling better. Of course that brat is – she friggin’ has her part back. Even Ki-young can see through her. But Jun-hee is conflicted, fully aware that the reason why Hee-joo missed the performance was because of him. I don’t think he’s figured it out completely yet, but he does think the whole situation is a little weird.

Shin and Kyu-won stroll down a shaded lane, talking about their respectively-deceased father and mother. They promise to show each other a photo of their father/mother, but Shin only wants to go over when Grandpa isn’t around. Kyu-won thinks dirty – but that’s totally not what he meant. He just doesn’t want to hear Grandpa’s life stories!

Then again, maybe it’s better if Grandpa is around, because otherwise he won’t be able to control himself!

The Chancellor holds a meeting with Tae-joon, Young-min, Seok-hyun, and Yoon-su. Tae-joon suggests that Kyu-won leave the school for a while. Even if she’s not in the performance, her presence in the school is not going to quell the rumors. (Is this how he slyly got Ki-young kicked out too?)

He wants her to take a leave of absence for the rest of the semester, and for the fall semester. The Chancellor agrees that this is a good idea, but Seok-hyun is outraged. Is Tae-joon seriously going to ruin a girl’s future like this? He grabs Tae-joon by the shirt and says, “It was you wasn’t it? You’re the one who sent the text with my phone to Kyu-won.”

Furious, he tells the Chancellor that he quits. No one can touch Kyu-won – he’ll just quit instead.

Whaaat?!!?!?

Yoon-su chases after him. What’s he going to do now? He doesn’t know either, so she proposes to him – how about they get married? (!!!!!) If they announce their engagement, then both Kyu-won and Seok-hyun can stay on the team. They’ll be rid of the scandal again. (Hey – I kinda like this plan…)

But Seok-hyun apologizes – he can’t do that. Can’t marry her, or can’t compromise his honesty like that? Either way, she’s hurt he would choose Kyu-won’s status in the production over her.

Hee-joo practices scales by herself, but is having trouble reaching the higher notes. Jun-hee comes in (even though he’s not supposed to visit her) and confronts her. Can’t he just tell the truth about being with her that day the sponsor came? He feels like Kyu-won and Seok-hyun are suffering because he lied, but Hee-joo yells for him to not say anything still.

When Shin goes off to the bathroom, Kyu-won decides to search for her phone in his bag. She finds a whole bunch of missed calls and texts from Bo-woon, and finally calls her back. She finds out that Seok-hyun just quit, and when Shin comes back, she tells him that they need to rush back to school.

Shin wants her to sit down; he saw her come home last night with the director. He knows what happened, so they can skip the explaining part. He purposely took her far away, and the director knew it too. Kyu-won doesn’t want Seok-hyun to take all the blame himself, and she insists on going back.

Shin grabs her: “Don’t go. If you go, it’s over between us.” WHAT!? Are you really going to hang that threat over her head?

Kyu-won keeps going. Shin stops her again and grabs her into a hug: “Lee Kyu-won. Please don’t go.”

Comments:

Erm. Eh? I think the ending kind of put me on a bit of a tailspin there.

This episode went from awesomely adorable to oddly dramatic. There’s tension and conflict, but it feels forced. Everyone seems to pick up on the truth that Team Hee-joo is orchestrating this scandal, but then their actions seem to be an overreaction to the problem. Especially in Seok-hyun’s case – must he really need to quit? Why is he giving up his position of power? I thought Yoon-su’s plan was perfectly valid and a good one; it seems like he rejected that plan more because he doesn’t want to marry her (which in that case, ouch). It doesn’t help that he’s so gosh-darn confusing in regards to his feelings towards Kyu-won.

And Shin – why did he have to threaten that they’ll break up if she goes to Seok-hyun? Why go to that extreme? He has this tendency of needing to overprotect the object of his affection, and while it’s sweet, I feel like he could have helped a lot more in supporting her in front of everyone. Shin and Seok-hyun seem to be increasing the scandal’s power by running away from it, and by going to any lengths to protect Kyu-won. I was kind of hoping that for a drama with such honest characters, maybe we could have tension through confrontation instead.

Jun-hee needs to grow a spine and stop listening to Hee-joo. And Hee-joo can go croak like a toad for all I care.

this might not be the most fav ep, but the spot is moving so I dont hate it… ( yeah I dont like the feeling when GW and SH got blamed like that)
I love the leads chemistry. They seem like Yong and PSH sometimes…
Dont you agree with me that PSH has great chemistry with all the guys ( in YB, HS, and her other dramas too)? I guess this is a reason I cant ship her with 1 particular person. I am shipping this close-friends ship pretty hard right now hehe.
Oh, and is it me or YH acting got so much better as soon his love line with PSH began? Did I think to much? lolz
Last but not least, I hope KY will play a bigger part in the latter eps ( since I know for sure that Shin and GW are going to break up)
Thanks for the recap~

i agree with you that PSH has great chemistry with anybody paired with her, be it oppa or ahjussi..as to the date scenes, sometimes i feel that they are not acting anymore, i feel that they are the real YH and PSH, good friends who as both are playful (all the 4 anjells have cheerful personalities in real life) ..

i wish that GW's interaction with KY was earlier so that he would be part of the love triangle or love square with LS and the director..

as to the ending scene, i am wishing that no break up will happen but instead LS will help and support KW in proving her innocence...

i also dont want the scandal to drag longer but have it resolved in ep 12...i am not fond of angst-filled drama that's why i enjoy watching HS..its something relaxing and cool especially wathing YH and PSH and listening to the OST...

thanks for the recaps..

I also believe some of the date scenes are outtakes, not real acting, like when she hit her head at the museum and when they play that game with the hammers at the amusement park. Those look like real moments to me and I love them.

I love Shin's reaction when GW hit the top of the strength game (don't know the real name). It looks like he's scared, not impressed.

Overall, I just love the coupling of these two. It was frustrating when I watched You're Beautiful that the other guy kept getting in the way. Knowing how Asian dramas usually work, I know GW and Lee Shin will end up together since this doesn't strike me as a total tragedy. So, please just maximize the sweet moments these two have as fan service since the concept of this whole drama was fan service to begin with.

The antagonists are so pathetic! >.< I was like, heck, both KW and SH go quit the musical, let's see if they can manage it and KW: go have a good time with Shin. It's too focused with that cursed musical, man. And yes, I truly wish that Hee Joo loses her voice permanently. Lol.

I just can't wait when it's payback time. I hope it'll be a humiliating and stinky defeat to HJ's team, the kind that they can never ever show their faces to anyone for the rest of their lives. Fire TJ, divorce the chairman's wife and disown HJ, hated by everyone in the campus. Nyaha. *mean*

The fact that I react like this is because I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to this show. I just hope KW stops walking away from Shin everytime they argue, she's just so thick-headed. Hee.

I think Shin is to controlling over Gyu-won. I mean, come on, she was talking with the director ABOUT the production and shin was like "LET'S GO! quit the play!" I know he's doing it for her own good or whatever, but who is he to tell her not to do it? they've only been together for a couple weeks, right? what is he, her father? psh!*ok im done ranting*

I had the same intial impression. But shin is only like that when gyu won is with the director. Remember how he steps back when she in with her windflower friends. I thnk shis is warry because he and the director has the same taste in women - former ballerina turn dance professor. So shin is basically saying "im notmletting you steal another girl from me."

sorry but in instances like these, i find him rude and bossy, don't you think so..i understand that he wants to protect her and he is jealous of the director but isn't he being so immature to act that way, isn't it he is also being rude to his girlfriend???

Given that it is Shin, who we can all say is a perfect bf in training (we can all agree he has a far way to go), I don't think he overreacted. Anybody else in that situation would be overreacting. Although he didn't believe the whole scandal (a plus in the bf in training department), he still saw them together and she kind of lied about who she was going to see...so I can see how he would be desperate and say something like that (which I really don't think he means...it was probably a spur of the moment thing that might actually happen if she does go, but something that neither of them really want (am I reading too much into this...I think I am. Okay then!). All in all, in a weird way(mainly because I don't thing he means it), I don't see it as him overreacting. SH, on the other hand, a tad bit. But then again, he is human and the whole fight or flight thing comes into play.
I do think that yoon su's proposal was too sudden. I mean is she not thinking about how many times he arrived late when they were suppose to meet somewhere or he canceled (usually because of kyu-won)...and her idea was to get engaged? Love, if you wanna call it that, must most definitely be blind. Overall, I think Seok-Hyun and Shin are one and the same or as close as can be in their actions (almost or atleast in this episode). And for someone afraid of getting their hair pulled...KW is really courageous (?) for wanting to go help Seok-hyun.

I've been thinking lately that this drama is not like a Korean drama at all, where in most cases, the reactions of the characters seem understandable and not over-the-top - for some reason, this resembles more a Japanese drama, where (mostly) characters do unexpected things and you could never think that such things could EVER happen in real life. The latest episodes have proved me that my hunch is correct, because no matter how I look at it, the plot seems all over the place (although the situations are kinda classic in dramaland, and quite successful in some series, in this one they just seem to be thrown in for the ske of it, as they are not linked correctly enough to seem realistic). It is a fun series to watch, though, despite the many shortcomings.

Really kaedejun, your comparison of Hee-joo to a toad is so funny and fitting that I can't seem to stop laughing :)) Seeing her as an insecure girl who is terrified at witnessing the red carpet being pulled from under her feet in the last few episodes actually made me even a bit understanding of her bitchy attitude towards people. Now, however, even though I get why she grew up the way she did, I've lost all of my compassion towards her. Almost completely.

About Seok-hyun and Shin, however, it's a bit difficult for me. I do agree that they are exaggerating - terribly so, really - but if you think about how much they have gotten attached to Gyu-won, their reactions are somehow understandable. Even Shin's threat, "It'll be the end for us if you go", is understandable - he's not only the caring, supportive boyfriend everyone seems to acknowledge, but also a very, VERY jealous of Seok-hyun, though a little mature, teenager, who is possessive of his girlfriend. Nevertheless, in the way they handle the situation as a whole, oh my god, they seem like a pair of preschoolers who make the situation bigger than it is rather than solve it simply. But I guess this what appeals most to their target audience - besides, no matter what negative aspects the drama may have, the chemistry between the main leads make up for them. :D

frankly if such a scandal did happen it would ruin the girls future, she be forever know as the girl who tried to sleep her way onto the stage. and of course as the years went by the story would grow. So the answer of taking her out of the show would not help her much at all. But why don't the director assistant speak up he has a record of calls made on his phone. Why doesn't the dance teacher speak up she knows just what went on, even before her boyfriend did. they suppose to be teachers but she lets one of her students life get ruined and just sits back?
as for the 'star' girl she seemed to be turning human then does a total reverse of character, so weird!

If Shin is too watchful over Gyu Won it’s because she has shown a lot of independence of thought and yet a lack of self preservation which isn’t a good combo. She is strong but she gives a lot of that strength to other people (i.e. The Director, Trying to give up the performance at first for others etc). She doesn’t protect herself first and foremost and Shin doesn’t know how to protect her in this situation so the ultimatum is his desperation (i.e. will she protect their relationship instead?) but Gyu Won has too much integrity to choose herself or him and believes in The Show and The Director. I agree with everyone else about Shin’s jealousy and need to protect her overlapping but he sang to her—in front of everyone—then kissed her (even though it was awkward)! Seriously, even if I wanted to save the world he is too sexy to leave LOL.~~

I'll tell you guys probably how Shin feels from a guy's point of view. Look, wants to hang out, but she says she has a "friend" to hang out with. He comes back later and sees her coming home with another guy. No he's confused and wonders why she's with another guy(trust me, guy jealousy is probably worst then girl jealousy. Plus, our imaginations can blow things out of proportion quickly). Then the next day, he sees pics of them leaving a hotel together. Seeing how they just started dating, he's probably super insecure at this point. So he finds out the truth, they were tricked, but that doesn't stop the fact that he still feels a little insecure. Plus this is probably the first time he's had a girlfriend so he's still inexperienced. Now she's about to leave him to guy help out the guy that he feels is slowly stealing her away from him(the same guy who took the teacher he liked too). So of course he feels possessive over his girl. So when when he gives her an ultimatum, it's probably because in his mind, he she leaves now for the director, then he lost her to him. Knowing the kind of person she is, he probably kinda expects her to still go anyway. So when she starts to walk away, he throws away all his tough guyness and begs her to stay.

Coming from another guy, I can understand Shin and his insecurities. The direct took his first love and now he feels like he's loving his second love to the same guy. It's frustrating as a guy and I can relate to Shin.

Sorry, lot's of spelling mistakes on the last couple sentences so I corrected them.

Coming from another guy, I can understand Shin and his insecurities. The director took his first love and now he feels like he’s losing his second love to the same guy. It’s frustrating as a guy and I can relate to Shin's insecurities and his feeling of needing to 'control' Gyuwon. Not saying it's the right thing to do, but it's understandable why he's acting like that.

I agree with your interpretation. Shin's character turns out to be very pleasant and realistic. Some guys put up tough exteriors because they are actually vulnerable inside and afraid of getting hurt. Shin is tender and loving with the people he cares about. I love his no non-sense approach to things. We need more people like him in dramas and real life.

I am soooo confused. Does Seok Hyun like Kyu won or not?? I'm probably the only one, but I actually love him as a second lead. He does everything a seocnd lead is supposed to do, He always has Kyu won's back, always protecting her not just in the performance but in her personal life too. If he just sees her like a little sister then whats with all the looks whenever she and Shin are together? and why is he more interested in her than his gf? Every preview it seems like Seok Hyun is gonna step up to the plate and admit to liking Kyu won....but he never does. And then he goes and rejects Yoon-su? why?! Is it a pride thing or a I-love-someone-else thing? Song Chang Eui is so fine that i can watch his conflicted looks all day but I need context! The writers should just make it clear so I can stop secretly hoping for Seok Hyun to confess to Kyu Won.

If/ When Jun Hee comes to his senses I hope he breaks up with her, and maybe she will feel guilty and fix everything.

I think it's logical that Shin is threatening a break-up with Gyu Won. He intereprets her leaving as her choosing Seok Hyun over him, and if I were him I would probably see it that way too.

i need to prepare my heart for a major hearbreak on wednesday :( but i hope they will get back soon as possible..one of the strengths of this drama is they don't dwell on the overly-dramatic scenes too much and i hope it will continue like that til the end. shinhye and yonghwa sure have a great chemistry going on, on and off the cam.watching the ng scenes of this episode shows how comfortable and good friends they are :) love it :)

So the question is, will KW stay or leave Shin?
since she's 3 months older i think she should be wiser by making Shin understand her feelings and to put both of their heads together and collectively come up with a solution.
if she wants to go back, then i think Shin should go back with her.
and yes, i'm upset with SH because he could have done something while in the hotel like calling his gf out to meet them or even Shin to collect his gf before some one else makes a rumor out of the meeting.
and they should stop protecting KW too much, she can stand on her own. Telling lies only made things worst. i think everyone's trying to protect the people that don't want/need to be protected....
and yes, JH should develop a backbone and additional brain cells to know when to say enough is enough and just tell everyone that HJ is a liar!!!!
i'm also wanting to see more of KiYoung, why isn't he given a meatier role??? why oh why???
ok, now we have to wait 4 more days to find out what'll happen next...
and i'm glad to know i'm not alone in thinking as to WHY SHIN kissed her with his eyes wide open!!!

I hope the next kiss will be better...

here's a scenario playing in my head for the opening scene of ep 12- KW tells Shin sincerely that she loves him but she needs to do what she can to help SH solve this mess they're in. Then she asks him, "Were you serious when you said it's over if I leave?" and he answers her, "I didn't know what else I could do to make you stay!"
Sigh! Wishful thinking, no?

as for the kiss scene, i understand the intention or the motive why LS made that kiss, i understand KW's reaction, surprised, frozen but sorry, i just don't understand why LS's eyes were wide open, i rewatch that kiss scene so many times just to see how YH did it, there was a slight push on his part, i think his position made it uncomfortable, then he swallowed his saliva (SORRY, AM I A PERVERT) before saying "you're in trouble...i don't also know the directo'r intention why he didn't edit it...

As to PSH's reaction, i like it, its normal for a first-timer, with so many people looking at them, she frozed and made a "sound" as if she recovered from slight choking....

and so i demand for a second or third kiss, this time deeper with LS guiding KW...i understand that both are awkward to do such scene since they are good friends in real life BUT this is a test for them as professional actors, this is their job so they better do it, and do it well..show your love through that kiss

word! most awkward kiss evaar!! *reliving Full House kiss-disappointment all over again* they have so much to learn. maybe they tried over and over and that was the best they could come up with.. huhu *still sad* and they're so cute too..

I dont know how the drama will turn out but the best part of this drama so far is the episodes when Shin realizes his feelings for her. the way he stares and instinctively look out for her. It tink it really captures the essence of youthful love. and after he sang the 'lucky' song..so aaawwwww.. the way they were stealing glances at each other.

okay! back to the ending. In defense of Shin. I tink he just blurted out the ultimatum cos it was the reaction he can tink of? It didnt even sound like he meant it. His mouth isnt his best asset after all LOL. He just didnt want her to go and get hurt..plain and simple. thats how i see it so far..guess we'll have to see the continuation. *cant sit still waiting*

THIS IS HOW THE PLOT SHOULD GO(my opinion):

-->Joon Hee needs to take his raggedy self and go and confess about what TRULY happened.

-->Hee Joo needs to quit singing and concentrate her talents on eating more-- she looks like a STORK

-->Lee Shin needs to stop acting like a 12years old and go together with kyu won to go defend the director.

-->The Director needs to come clean to us (the viewers) about whether he is an old creep or just an oppa to kyu won(because his act is totally confusing)

I love this episode until that final minute with shin. I thought he was maturing very fast, in a span of 24 hours. First, awkward suitor, then shy firstime boyfriend, adorable boyfriend, giggly boyfriend, jealous boyfriend, controlling boyfriend then supportive boyfriend...to what was that at the end??? But i am still cheering him on. He is a first timer and he seems to be in in a trial and error mode. example, on the first date, he wants to keep their new found relationship lowkey. Gyu won doesnt like it. Okay wrong move on his part so the same night, me made a big splash in the concert. He was controlling, bidding gyu won to leave the musical. She reacted, he pulled back to supportive boyfriend. So im thinking that last minute is one of his trial and error moves.

Im glad we didnt go through the big misunderstanding phase for shin and the dance professor. They trusted their partners and was there to support them.

For director, i hope he remains being a big oppa to gyu won, otherwise its just creepy. But yes, someone needs to come clean with all those weird expressions. I think he rejected ballet teacher marriage proposal because he does not want to soil their marriage to happen due to a crazy scandal tnat tae joon orchestrated.

PD and writers, episode 11 better be goods. No melodramatics please.

Even though I wasn't very pleased with the way Shin dealt with certain things in this episode, I was happy to see that he was able, or at least willing, to learn from his mistakes. Would be funny if Lee Shin and the director realized they are both madly in love with eachother and Lee Shin dumps Gyu Won,then Lee Shin and the director run off as a gay couple. Kiyoung ends up with Gyuwon. Haejoo dies in a car accident. Taejoon and Haejoo's mom fall for eachother and run off to another country, and the whole school get fed up with drummer boy's stupidity and beat him to a bloody pulp

That would raise the view ratings

Knowing how Kyu Won is, she WILL leave and they end up "breaking up". However, there is still 4 episode left so I do hope that everything can be able to work out. Audience liked the pair Yong Hwa and Shin Hye from You're Beautiful so much that we had to have them back for Heartstrings, so I know they will end up together at the end regardless. But this whole lying and scandal is making me worried. Fighting Lee Shin! Fighting!

you have to remember this has all happened to him before in Broadway. That is why he feels so close to Kyu Won he seeing her as that other girl, the one he couldn't protect in the USA. This time come hell or high water he going to protect the girl he thinks as a director is more suited for the role. I would say Coffee Prince like, his heart has been shaken by Kyu Won, but not real love.

or maybe viewers may be disappointed that after episodes of cuteness, another dramatic plot is thrown in our faces...

i haven't watch episode 11 so i don't what else to say... [so why i'm i here anyway]

though i agree with the other comments about shin's "ultimatum" especially testify's comment (number 14: ..."TO me his last act was more like I don `t konw how to stop you, but please please don`t go because I don`t know how to protect you there….It was more an admission of feeling helpless.") and Mika's (14.3:...."Some ultimatums are meant to control. Shin’s is a desperate attempt to protect.")

I was really irritated with all the Hee-joo stuff this episode. I feel sorry for Joon-hee for being played by her. Just a couple episodes ago, I was starting to like Hee-joo, but now I can't stand her. It looks like she may be losing her voice, too, which will mean they will need Kyu-won to step in anyway, regardless, if they want the show to be a success. The date scenes were my favorite scenes, by far, in this episode.

Tae-joon is as annoying as ever.

Seok-hyun is an idiot for not agreeing to marry Yoon-su. Dude, do you want to quit, and do you want Kyu-won to get kicked out of the show AND school? If not, marry your girlfriend!

I really liked Shin in this episode, especially the end. He knows what he wants (Kyu-won to get out of the show) and he's not afraid to go after it. He also doesn't want her to spend anymore time with Seok-hyun, which I totally get. I was really annoyed with Kyu-won for lying to Shin about where she was. She should just have said she was with the director. He wouldn't have been happy, but still. Truth is better than lies!

With this new scandal, with pictures, I can see where this show may be going. I hope my fears prove unfounded, but I'm bracing myself for a disappointing end.

Also, all this talk about the parents is giving me a bad feeling. I know how K-dramas love to spring birth secrets on the audience, but in this particular case, I hope it doesn't happen. Please, K-drama gods, DON'T LET IT HAPPEN!!

you guys are saying Shin did it as a ditch effort to protect her, but I think the boy is scared - after all, he lost the women he had a major crush on (not calling it love, because I believe it wasn't) to Seok-Hyun, and appears as if he will lose the girl he is in love with to the same man. He's scared that he will be alone again, especially after the initial hit of being lied to. I understand Kyu-Won's reason for lying, but she really should've known better.

Logically speaking, KW would never be interested in SK. She's head over heels for LS and he knows it. But I guess guys can be illogical, get jealous and don't use their brains too much when it comes to relationship. It's weird LS is so insecure though since he's the most popular guy in school. Any girl on campus would give an arm and a leg just to date him. Appearances can be deceiving I guess.

Argghh yeah I was so excited about the two date scenes that I almost forgot how FRUSTRATED I was with the random drama that was thrown into this episode... it seemed so forced! But Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa totally saved it with their cute scenes <3

I was annoyed with Lee Shin's threat at the end, but I took it as "I really really want to stop you from going in order to protect you" rather than an ultimatum.

Tae Joon isn't doing it for Yoon Su. He's doing it for himself. Even without Yoon Su there, Tae Joon would have still done what he did. He wanted to direct the play. But they recruited SH which really pissed him off. He got put in the back seat last time as well when he was suppose to direct but some other guy got picked. He's not going to stand around this time. Especially for such an important event which he's been wanting to do for so long.

I loved their date to the art gallery... and their sense of Play/fun.

I want Tae-Joon and SeokHyun's past to come to light, just so I can understand and probably feel a little empathy for the character. As for HJ and Her Mother, Man they are a mother-daughter match made in heaven. If they were able to annoy me, I should say they are skilled actors to bring that emotion in me. I also wished Seokhyunk explained to the ballerina why he didnt want to marry although there is an implication he doesnt want to use her and that if he marries her, it will be because he loves her and not as an excuse to avoid an imagined scandal.

I like Ki-young's maturity.. it looks like he is the only one who is the quiet, talented, full-brained, speak my mind kind of Guy in the Drama. I like his Character.

And now off to wait on the next episodes.

if you see the bts kiss of PSH and seven in Goong, PSH initiated the kiss so it all depends on what the director would like to imply

I think this drama is really cute in the beginning....but now is getting a bit messy and absurd. The director is being coward and indecisive. He wants to get back with his ex but feel otherwise? Shin is being too childlish. Up till this point I was expecting something fresh and interesting in this drama, but now I am kinda seeing the cliche here. The only hope here is to have ki young appear more and have more development because he is the only character that I can see to make the drama moving.

As much as I love this drama I can't help but agree that it is all over the place. In the mist of all the drama "troubles" behind the scenes, I think the core ideal of this drama has been lost.

In this last episode, (11) I was enchanted by Shin and Gyu-Won's "cuteness" in being a couple. I like the chemistry they had going and inside I felt "giddy" myself.

But then mid-way through the drama it became as you had described Kaedejun "forced". And it's only the 11th episode, we have 5 more to go.

I'm curious on how this will play out.

I don't really like how controlling Lee Shin is of Gyu won. ;/
I understand he cares for her a lot and they have cute moments together but giving her an ultimatum? like really?
don't feel that's the correct way to "protect" her. He can suggest; ordering her is just going too far I think. he's ONLY been dating her for, what, a week? if he truly wants to protect her, he should be there for her. Protecting and helping her through whatever she goes through. running away from problems isn't the only way to "protect" her. she still needs to go to school you know. standing up to the bullies is what Gyu Won is strong enough for.

I must admit, the date with Shin was just too cute and I couldn't take my eyes of how adorable they were. I was already almost on the Shin KW team until he gave another one of that stupid move with the ultimatum. lol
I tend to agree with a few above posts about the chemistry. don't hate me now :P but I feel she has more chemistry with the director than with shin.
I feel, while the director may seem cold at times, he's the one that truly has a heart. He doesn't sugarcoat anything but he's still there to cheer up KW. seems like he's protecting her more than shin has in things that he can control. he even stepped down just to protect KW. talk about being unselfish. he could have easily just let her get all the flack while going on with the "glory" of being big shot producer.
he's a man while Shin is still a boy.
I thought Shin has grown up but the writers are backtracking that :/ first with that stupid "like me just because" to a desperate measure of threat "go and I will leave you".

the writers had better redeem Shin in some BIG way before he ends up with KW. (it's so obvious Shin will end up with KW. just the way kdramas are and tendency to favor the bad boys. this drama has been building up all around it in particular)

curious to see how the drama will be developed and concluded in the next 5 eps. I'm getting mixed directions here.

i've only watched this episode today and based on Gyu won's look, I believe she won't leave Shin and run to the Institute to explain. I think when Shin hugged him, she realized that he really wanted to protect her. There's no way she'd leave Shin after that because she wouldn't want to hurt him. Maybe she and Shin would try to find a way to solve the issue and they would face it together.

The whole scandal story is confusing but walking away and leaving Shin will make no sense. If the writers and PD decided that Gyu Won needs to leave Shin, that would really be disappointing.

This drama has a lot of potential but the BIG STORY is missing. There's no major conflicts or looming situations that could make the 100th a special event. The gayageum has been put aside. The story was swayed with fans' request of romance for the two leads.

I can't help but think that the original story could have worked, although it is flooded with a helluva conflicting subplots meant for the other characters. They even made Ki-young's role less significant, all because fans wanted the director ad GW story. It's frustrating to think that they sacrificed a good story to make the fans squeal. But the saddest part of it is, it didn't work for Korean fans, and international fans, although elated about the romance between Shin and GW, are starting to get confused with how the story is heading.

Heh, maybe I'm just frustrated that Ki-young's role didn't really fly in this drama. But I am really frustrated with the lack of stronger conflicts.

The weird thing is, after I've watched episode 11 and after I've ranted so much about the drama's lack of a deeper and more interesting story, I am still looking forward to the next episodes. Conflicting emotions but I guess it can't be helped. My fondness for Park Shin Hye is stronger than my own opinions of the drama. I just hope that she's doing okay even with the drama's plummeting ratings.

I think the director quit because he didn't want what occurred to the main actress of his previous play to happen to Gyu Won, when it was all done by jealousy of whom he was with. Although you think Yoon Su's plan is valid, he couldn't marry her because it would be marrying to PROTECT GYU WON, not because they LOVE each other. I think he did the right thing by rejecting her. If he accepted, it would have hurt Yoon Su much more later down the road.

Lee Shin's whole point of saying "If you go, it's over between us," is for 1.) he believes she wouldn't leave because she likes him a lot and 2.) he was testing how far she really likes him. After all, she did lie to him about meeting the director. I don't think it's all technically out of line. It also shows that Gyu Won has a stronger sense of righteousness instead of selfishness.

I think this episode was played out perfectly. They had the fight blend of drama and cute fluffy stuff in between. Relief, yaknow?! The drama is just getting heated, although the plot really doesn't have a definite approach. Is it the jealousy and the ruining of Gyu Won/the director or the relationship and love of Lee Shin and Gyu Won?

Oh, and could they possibly have any other greater chemistry between two characters?

@ moidiom: Totally agree with your comment below:

"Side note: I totally believe Lee Shin is the best b/f character in dramas ever, not that I’ve watched that many of them. He is honest, protective, quick to admit fault, and wants to spend his time with his girl. What’s not to like? Anyone who’s been in love can relate how not wanting your loved one to be hurt. Keep in mind, for this character this is his first relationship so he’s not that skilled, but his heart is in all the right places."

Lee Shin = Ideal Boyfriend in the Kdrama world... he is so real, not the cliche type of bf.

Loving Yonghwa... Hope if Shin Hye doesn't end up with her "Hyungnim", she hooks up with the talented, funny and awkward Yonghwa!!!! Anyways, the best thing that can happen to anyone is fall in love with a friend and keep him till the end...
