Stills from SBS’s Scent of a Woman
by javabeans
Here’s our first look at SBS’s upcoming weekend series Scent of a Woman with these stills, both promotional and behind-the-scenes, starring Kim Sun-ah as an ordinary office worker who’s told she’s dying, and Lee Dong-wook as the heir to a travel company who falls for her. Lest that description scare you off right away, rest assured that this is a romantic comedy. (Although “comedy” to me means she doesn’t die in the end. Got that, drama??)
Lee Dong-wook is fresh out of the army, and not a moment too soon, since Scent of a Woman premieres just a month after his June 20 release. In fact, the drama got a bit of a reprieve because SBS has extended its preceding series, New Gisaeng Story, by two episodes, giving it one additional week. (It had originally been slated for July 16, but now takes to airwaves the following Saturday.) I say with a schedule that tight, any extra time is appreciated.
The drama actually began rehearsals before Lee’s army discharge; the script reading shots below were taken on June 7, while the farm scenes at the bottom of the page were filmed on the 11th in Ilsan, Goyang.
Lee headed straight to the studio in Kangnam after being discharged, where the cast and crew had a congratulatory cake prepared for him. Along with Lee and Kim, posing with the cake in the photo below are the two other leads, Eom Ki-joon (playing Kim’s cold doctor, who warms up because of her) and Seo Hyo-rim (as Lee’s chaebol fiancée, though the two aren’t in love, as this is an arranged marriage).
I do believe this leading pair has never looked better, and they look particularly good together. But it also helps that they’re two actors who are particularly good at generating chemistry with co-stars. And while chemistry alone can’t carry a show, it sure can elevate one to a higher level.
Scent of a Woman, produced by the writer-director pair behind the gorgeously filmed Dr. Champ, is a weekend drama — and while most weekend offerings tend to be longer shows, this one is a miniseries (yay!), clocking in at 16 episodes. It premieres July 23.

Holy Moly KSA!!!!
She looks, and everyone has said this a billion times, SOOO different!!! hot damn.
Am I alone in saying that I liked her fuller-I-Can-Relate-to-that figure better?
But, It's cool that LDW acts with different types of women. I mean, after HY in that one movie, he's pretty versatile lol. :D

As much as I roll my eyes at makeovers, I hope KSA's character gets to have one where she gets her hair done. I guess that's how you know when a main heroine is the main heroine - she always has to have worse hair than the other woman.
the posed pics of her in the white dress and LDW in the suit are sort of awkward a la clothing catalog or a mall advertisement. The farm scenes look fun though! The story also sounds fun - i can imagine the sort of "i am going to seize life now" hijinx when faced with death! I wish they'd had a better title. Sharing a title with a famous american movie sort of makes finding info abt the drama a bigger hassle.

lol. I know what you mean. Her hair in the stills is giving me a "Manny" vibe if you know what I'm saying.
I couldnt continue that drama due to my severe aversion towards her hair :/

Love HER! Love HIM! A must watch.
Hmm~ military service really took away Lee Dong-wook's babyface; he looks so much more mature after his release.

Yowza...I totally did not recognise KSA in the first 2 pics!! I dun think its surgery...it must be the angle of the camera...n photoshop? Cus I've watched the few recent dramas of hers...City Hall, Kim Sam Soon, Night Aft Night...and there is a vague resemblance of her in the first 2 photos...around the eyes. But she totally looks like her in the rest of the photos (for the drama shoots...sans glasses or with glasses). :)

Poor LDW looks exhausted! I hope that someone is looking out for his welfare and let's him sleep for a couple of days. I hate reading about actors who end up in the hospital from overwork.

Suna has lost wight about 10kg during her shooting Fighting Spirit. It's very ridiculous to say that she has taken a plastic surgery. She is always making sacrifice for her characters. How can people make such malicious comment about her

Welcome back home, my dear Lee Dong Wook. I've missed you! And Kim Sun-Ah! Goodness, I can't wait for this. Can't wait to laugh again, it's been a long time. I pray she doesn't die in the end...
They look so good together! Love how Kim Sun-Ah always looks different in every role she takes on, like she immerses herself in the role so well. And Lee Dong Wook, ultimate leading man. Let's go!

Is that KSA? At the top? Whoa. She looks Entirely different. That's why i took some Dramawiki investigation to be sure there is only one KSA in the industry. Ke.
ANDDDDD! LDW is BAAAAAAACCK!
I'm so over inlove with him (Well, just before LMH came and replaced him, then there's JGS, then LSG, oh why so many good looking Kdrama actors. Ha!)
Kay, i'm looking forward :)

And don't forget that JO IN SUNG just got out from his military duty too.
I don't know on how I'll watch them all - ERIC MUN, LDW.
The rest of 2011 would definitely be great.

I totally missed LDW - and yes, I am a big fan! I have not watch all of his dramas but I'm totally a big fan of this guy. Glad to see him back. :)
Anyway, I heard about this new project with Kim Sun Ah and no offense but I don't think it's going to work out with me. Thing is, I don't see any "chemistry" with this team up. I just don't. I see "age difference" though. I have no idea if this is even possible but can they just pair LDW with Kim Hyun Joo AGAIN? They do have that chemistry but I blame those "Partner" writers for not giving them worth-watching storylines. Well, "Partner" started out worthy of my time during the first episodes until it bored me. I think I only finished the entire series just to watch out for the "LDW-KHJ" scenes. So yooohooo, dear producers/writers, can you please give this Lee Dong Wook-Kim Hyun Joo a try (again)? :)
That's just my cent's worth though so Kim Sun Ah fans, don't take it on me. Oh and just to set the record, I'm no "hater" of KSA. :)

I am a big fan of KSA, I am always expecting she could co-star with some actors in Korean film industry. I don't like idols, cause idols' fans are crazy. I want some mature actors can play with suna onnie.
I don't have any feeling for the leading actor.
I will definately watch this drama for KSA's sake.

Kim Sun ah had to lose weight for the role as she is playing a cancier patient. It has nothing to do with the pressures of the industry, she was already naturally skinny. She's just an actress who puts her heart and soul into every role she plays. If that means she'll have to put on weight for a film, she will. If that means she has to lose weight for a film, she will. love her! oh and major love for Lee Dong wook! They have so much chemistry between them in this drama <3
