Last Secretary becomes The Boss Has Changed
by javabeans
SBS’s upcoming rom-com series Last Secretary has been renamed The Boss Has Changed, which is a title change I like; already it goes from sounding vaguely serious to light and fluffy, which is what you want in a romantic comedy, no?
The drama has also finalized its lineup. The first two to be confirmed were Choi Kang-hee (My Sweet Seoul) as our heroine and Lee Hee-jin (Best Love) as the hero’s friend and senior secretary at his company. Looks like the latter has dropped, but now, we can add Ji Sung (Royal Family), Hero Jaejoong (Heaven’s Postman), and Wang Ji-hye (Personal Taste) to that list.
I’d been a little wary of the premise at first, because it sounded so obvious: Secretary joins company, falls for boss. But with a few key details added, my interest level has jumped up a few notches accordingly.
Choi Kang-hee plays a woman who finally lands a job as a secretary after a long struggle to find employment, only to find that she’s working for the immature youngest son of a chaebol family (Ji Sung), who happens to be “a bad boss.” Hee. (The word used here means a boss who’s lacking or somehow flawed — heo-dang, like 1N2D’s Lee Seung-gi — not necessarily that he’s a bad person.)
Jaejoong, then, plays a sharp and skilled “prince of the financial world,” while Wang Ji-hye plays a perfect, controlled lawyer. Hm. I think I like this cast together, although it’ll be the story that seals the deal (or not) for me. Choi Kang-hee’s pretty good with comedy, and I’m very interested in seeing Ji Sung go lighter after picking so many serious roles (Royal Family, Kim Suro, Swallow the Sun). I can’t say much about Jaejoong’s acting since he’s relatively inexperienced (he sure is pretty though), while Wang Ji-hye should be great — she made a ridiculous second lead delightfully fun to hate in Personal Taste, with her ability to bring a little extra personality to even the flimsiest stock character.
The drama replaces City Hunter (sadness…I am addicted to that drama) and premieres on August 3.

Ji Sung! Alright! I too loved him in Royal Family. He did a bit scene of comedy in the first episode, so I think he has it in him to do comedy.
I haven't watched any of his other dramas, so I am basing my comments only on his performance in Royal Family. But he did such an excellent job acting in that drama.
I totally agree with JavaBeans regarding the storyline/writing. Since the writers names aren't included in the article I must ask, do we know who the writers will be?
This is a quote from a previous Dramabeans article: "The production team has me a little wary, with PD Sohn Jung-hyun having done stuff like the makjang First Wives’ Club and Princess Lulu, although I’ve heard better things of his 2007 Crazy For Love, the latter of which he worked on with scriptwriter Kwon Ki-young."

I am curious about this too.
After a ... failed google search on my phone I haven't seen much about this writer.
Did he also write Hero with Lee Jun Ki in 2009?
That was the only Comedy I could find connected to his name.
I hope this will be a real comedy. All the ones I ever see in Kdramaland are similar to melodramas except no one dies @.@ I want to watch something fun :D
idgi.
I'm excited and going to watch this drama regardless though. JJ fansites have been digging up some interesting things about the characters :D

He has a very large following in Japan (even his twitter updates becomes news).. so yeah it's a seal deal ..
Even Heaven's Postman is a Koean+Japanese collaboration project.. I thought he was a Japanese when I first saw him since he is fluent with the language too.. (more fluent than his bandmate Yoochun)

yes, Changmin's japanese is the best, Yoochun's is good too.. Yunho and Junsu's are not that good..
I don't understand why we discuss it here though o_O
real
June 23, 2011 at 5:21 PM
Used to be Changmin back in 2008-2009. (In term of word used) Then JJ got a bunch of Japanese friends which made his speaking eloquently. Asking a japanese friends, at least JJ speaking is the best among TVXQ(5), not sure about word selection.
Why are we discussing about this matter? lol
yaya
June 23, 2011 at 10:47 PM
lol, since 2008-2009 Jaejoong didn't talk in japanese in public much, so how you know? xDD
Changmin and Yoochun were much better than Jaejoong back then though..
cookie
June 23, 2011 at 11:36 PM
@yaya Jaejoong was in a Japanese drama which greatly improved his Japanese language fluency. Recently, fans who went to JYJ's charity concert in Japan said that Jaejoong was the best at speaking in Japanese.
yaya
June 24, 2011 at 2:32 AM
@cookie
by your logics Yoochun should improve his japanese as well, since he played in japanese drama as well.. do you know that they just learn the lines, not exactly the language.
and I haven't watched sunao, but my friends said that Jae's japanese was far from perfect there.
as for concerts it was JYJ concert, so no Changmin there, right? and Changmin and Yoochun are not very talkative in general, Jaejoong always talk a lot, it doesn't mean though that his language skills are the best..

June 24, 2011 at 4:56 AM
Jaejoong siad it himself that he have to act like he can not speak japanese well in the sunao and its actually bother him.
Jaejoong's Japanese is the best coz he keep in contact with all his japanese friends while the other didn't. He did study more Japanese while he free and he always talk to his Japanese friend so that why his japanese is THE BEST
Watch the clip when he went to variety show in japan and you will see that his japanese is really good and most japanese think that he did not have korean accent at all

I study Japanese so I knew their accent!!
Yoochun can understand Japanese but for him choice of words are limited and even in concert he need help from JJ when he can not think of the right word to said. In drama yoochun only remember the sentense.
But JJ learn Japanese from his friend and he get better at understand the slang. He always get new trend of slang from his friends, you can see it in his twitter. His knowledge of Kanji is getting better as well.
While the other stop learning Japanese, JJ still learning it so no surpise he getting better. You can not compare his Japanese in 2008 and now.
I think i should give up explain this to someone who doesn't believe the other people' opinion.
I just talk to my Japanese friend in twitter and she said JJ is the best right now, you have right to believe it or not but im not going to waste my time explain this again.

Why is this such a dreary issue?

so what's with who speaks better Japanese.. this is a Kdrama so what's the fuss...? geez
savethelastdance
June 24, 2011 at 11:57 AM
i hardly ever comment her but lol i love how this even became an issue. jaejoong is better in japanese. period. i'm a native speaker, and while he's far from being fluent, he's at a level higher than the other jyj/dbsk members. this doesn't invalidate yoochun or changmin's skill in the language, it just means that jaejoong is ahead of them. idky this is so hard for @yaya to understand lmao jfc.

June 24, 2011 at 12:58 PM
Why are people discussing adeptness at Japanese here? I thought this is a post on a K drama =_= not to mention talking about people not in this drama.
Choi Kang Hee has been away for some time, I wonder how this will turn out for her.
savethelastdance
June 24, 2011 at 3:13 PM
i understand that you like yoomin and the thought of jaejoong being anything less than rubbish in comparison to them (in regards to language efficiency) is making you feel pressed rn, but girl no. it's not just /my/ opinion, it's the general opinion of dbsk's japanese fandom.
yawn yes it was tacky for me to call you out for being painstakingly wrong about a language you clearly know nothing about lol ok.
but like ningk said, this has nothing to do with the drama in the first place so this conversation is done.
yaya
June 24, 2011 at 9:43 PM
@savethelastdance
lol, no, I actually love only Yoochun in dbsk xD but Changmin is the best in language, and it is well-known fact in toho japanese fandom, yes.
when you say that Jae is better now, you have the problem because you can not know it, since he didn't talk in japanese in public, so it is your speculation only, lol)) get your facts together XDD
I meant it was tacky to start this conversation about who is better in japanese in this post, lol
so you are trying to prove jaejoong being anything less than rubbish in comparison to Yoomin, this is exactly tacky, you are insecure xDD can you respect Jaejoong more, I guess it is too much for you to respect Yoomin.
I'm pretty sure that Yoomin are no rubbish, and they would be perfectly fine even without speaking japanese at all XDD
hahaha
June 24, 2011 at 10:43 PM
Lol, this is so amusing. Is this a sign of what's to come if javabeans decides to recap this drama? If so, I really really hope this gets recapped. JYJ/TVXQ stans create some of the best dramas, lmao.
For the record, nobody cares which JYJ/DBSK member speaks better Japanese, English, Korean, etc.

This thread is ridiculous but just to add my 2 cents as a Korean fan: Changmin (and Yunho) used a Korean pronunciation telepromoter for his Japanese promotions (using Korean words to sound out Japanese words). This should give you a clue to his fluency and how his accent might have sounded. Good day.

Yes, I'm rooting for Jaejoong but besides that, this is another all-star cast! I knew dramabeans wouldn't disappoint and write an article ^^

Yay for Ji Sung. I'm not sure abt the female lead. But the male casts enough to draw my interest. Ha. But that woman , is she the same w/the one that play in Aeja?

the drama sounds interesting. i won't get my hopes up for it just as yet, but i wish it well.
on a side note, as happy as i am for jaejoong, i'd love for some of his stans here to not get too ridic. i adore the kid too, but lol this fandom can be a bit much sometimes. this drama isn't solely about him.
