Park Shi-hoo cast as Moon Chae-won’s Romeo

Well, now I HAVE TO watch this drama! Curses! Will the stream of good dramas never end? Park Shi-hoo (Queen of Reversals, Prosecutor Princess) has just been cast to be the Romeo to Moon Chae-won‘s (It’s Okay Daddy’s Girl, Brilliant Legacy) Juliet, in upcoming Joseon-era fusion-Romeo-and-Juliet-sageuk, The Princess’s Man.
Well, if there ever was a man fit for a princess, Park Shi-hoo is IT. Did I mention how much I love that title, by the way? It’s perfectly descriptive, and yet cheekily reverses gender roles… it’s my cuppa tea, that title. And now with the addition of cutie patootie Park Shi-hoo, I’m all about this tragic love affair, tears and historical jargon be damned.
The fusion sageuk stars Moon Chae-won as headstrong and forward-thinking Princess Se-ryung, daughter to Grand Prince Su-yang, who is determined to be King. She falls in love with the son of his mortal enemy, and their romance gets caught in the crossfire of her father’s quest for the throne. It sounds as epic as epic can be, which if done right, might be sweeping, romantic, and the good kind of melancholy.
PD Kim Jung-min (Loving You a Thousand Times) and head writer Jo Jung-ju (Partner) will be at the helm.
I adore Moon Chae-won to pieces, because she’s got that instantly likeable, approachable persona, and she can carry melodrama quite well. I think the pairing might be amazing, which is exciting for both leads because they’re in that category for me of actors who have it in them to be higher up in the ranks, but have yet to fully break out. They’re both on the cusp, and need leading roles in a mega-hit, and it’s possible that with the Romeo and Juliet in the Joseon-era premise, this might be the ticket.
The Princess’s Man premieres on KBS in July, following Romance Town on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Same here but since its based on history / legend I'm assuming she did live and have children unlike Juliet. So bascially its only a Romeo and Juliet as far as forbitten love but not necessarily the same sad ending (I hope).

I am so excited for this, though I don't actually like sageuks or tragic dramas. I DO love Park Shi-hoo. He could sit in front of a camera and do nothing and I'd still watch it. I LOVE HIM.
Moon Chae-won is a beautiful actress, I hope they have good chemistry.

Agree with the both of you 100%, not that big on sageuk's. The only sageuk drama that I have watched was SKKS and how could you miss that when you have Park Yoo-chun, Yoo Ah-in, and Song Joong-ki. But the moment I saw this post only thing I read was "Park Shi-hoo cast as ...Romeo".
This drama I HAVE to watch, I L♥O♥V♥E Park Shi-hoo. Just look at that smile, how could you not love him.

Definitely interested in this now~ despite all the melodrama it will bring.
I've liked Moon Chae Won since Brilliant Legacy despite the fact that I hated her character. I feel like she did a great job portraying it, and I was excited when she got a lead role in It's Okay, Daddy's Girl. (Not that I got through even the first two episodes....anyways...) Also love Park Shi Hoo in Prosecutor Princess...:] Can't wait for this~ So many new dramas, and it's almost summer...quite excited :D

I really liked her in Brilliant Legacy! She was a rare villain that I couldn't hate all the way through. In fact, I even cried with her despite all the villainous things she did in that drama. She is simply amazing and I'm so happy to see her as the lead finally!

^Yes!!! I saw ep 19 and it was so darn sad, surprising, and ugh! Cant wait for episode 20 to resolve it...
I'm at mix of emotions right now where I'm ready for it to end [because I want to know what's going on] but I dont want it to leave lol. That drama was sooo surprisingly well handled.
The only other drama that has captured me like that (this season) is CYHMH's well handled bromance and sensitive dealings with both the disabled storyline and the makjang tone.

Despite my utter hate for the Romeo and Juliet storyline (as told my Shakespeare) it's PARK SHI-HOOOOO!!!! :D
I mean, I wont check it out or anything, let's be honest (the melo turns me off), but I'll def. be on the look out for screen caps ^^ Esp. if this drama takes on the historical drama distinction of having pretty pretty locations.

not a big fan of period drama.. but i will watch this one just to watch PSH... if it's not good... i will still suffer through it for him... so it better be good...
PSH is one of the actor i love.. there is something about him to draw attention... love him so much in PP and iljimae... he was great in 'How to meet a perfect neighbor'.. PSH has a way to steal scene and attention even when he is a 2nd lead.. so for him being the 1st lead on this one... I can't wait...

ever since brilliant legacy i've wished for MCW to get more popular so i can see her in more dramas. i'm glad she's getting leading roles, she's so lovely. just for her i'll watch this drama, its a plus that its a saeguk too :)

Not a fan of melodrama, not a big fan of both leads either.
BUT....
I have to agree that Park Shi Hoo is really really really a GREAT ACTOR. He's truly one of a kind which can pull of any roles from good to better.
And Moon Chae Won, she's pretty and very much talented. I think she's underrated, I personally think she's even better than those overrated actress such as Lee Da Hae, Park Shin Hye and Park Min Young.
I'm hoping that this drama can bring her into limelight.

Korean Juliet spies half-naked PSH and his abs in the lake/river/sea, is temporarily deranged at the sight of the glistening six-packs, dives 1600m down from the mountain where she's gathering wild mushrooms, misses him and instead plunges into the lake/river/sea. She can't swim and almost drowns. PSH aka Romeo saves her by stuffing a wild mushroom into her mouth cos they didn't know how to do CPR back then. Yes, she was carrying a whole bag of mushroom with her when she made The Dive of Love. She revives.....Thus begins their tender love story....

HUZZAH!!! Love PSH and MCW to pieces; they are wonderful actors, but what has me fully on board with the pairing is PSH--he had my heart in Prosecutor Princess, and he has steadfastly held on to it ever since. :D
