Lee Dong-wook’s comeback drama with Kim Sun-ah
by javabeans
Lee Dong-wook (Partner) isn’t even out of the army yet, and already he’s got a new drama lined up: Scent of a Woman, an SBS weekend series that will star Kim Sun-ah (City Hall) as his leading lady.
The plot: The main character is an unmarried 30-something woman named Lee Yeon-jae (spinster seems so passé, but it’s the term used to describe her) who works as a minor clerk and suffers life’s indignities with fortitude. When she receives word that she only has six more months to live, she decides to live the rest of her life happily, turning in her resignation and leaving for a vacation of luxury. Lee Dong-wook plays Kang Ji-wook, who falls in love with her.
Lest this sound too dreary a topic in the vein of melo-tearjerkers like A Rosy Life, it comes from the writer-director duo Noh Ji-seol and Park Hyung-ki, who worked on the breezy, slice-of-life drama Dr. Champ last year. I really, really hope it’ll go for an uplifting tone, rather than one full of angst, although I’m sure we’ll get plenty of that, too. ‘Cause while both leads are great dramatic actors, they’re also both strong comedic forces, and it would be a shame to miss out on that. Still, it’ll probably be wise to get the tissues ready, when he realizes he loves her and she realizes she has to tell him she’s dying. (If she leaves him cruelly because it’s “for his benefit,” I will howl and throw things.)
Interestingly, most of the 20 episodes will be filmed in Australia. Lee enlisted in August 2009; his planned military discharge date is June 20, while Scent of a Woman is set for a July 16 premiere. Eep! That gives him almost no resting time before he gets right back to work — he’ll join the filming team right away and will fly from Korea to Australia the day after his release.

OMG so not fair!!! Why does the first episode has to be on the 16th july?? can't it be a few days before?? No way will I be able to watch it TT^TT cuz, really this will sound funny and sad at the same time, the 17th July is the day that I enlist to the army... (also will be there for 2 years)
2 month of freedom left... *sigh* I should feed all my drama and books cravings in that time..

LOL, no I'm a girl >_< and I agree that it's hard to find guys that like kdrama, or probably any drama that doesn't involve action or thriller.
And in Israel, where i'm from, women do 2 years in the army and man 3 years. (that's the basic, certain position add years) and we don't get to choose when to do it, so it's right after high school to the army.

I didn't recognize her from that photo, i guess i hvnt seen CH that's why but what a t/formation? i got used to her kinda little bit of a chubby face i don't mean this in a negative way! i'm a huge fan of hers but i think she's quite a beauty than ever before! i can hardly wait to see this but my goodness there are so many new Kdrmas that i'm just (kunyang) overwhelmed with which to watch coz like Lie to Me, two of my fave actors in there, then Babyfaced Beauty JN & my fave Ryu Jin, i'm new to Daniel choi's face but i'm liking him too, then i still am not over TB which just ended & i hope also to watch Greatest Love with my other fave YKS omooooo i need therapy now hahahah LOL :)

Ah the many faces of Kim Suna...to think that I met her as 'Samsoon' and actually thought she looked like that! Her transformations are incredible. Like when Robert De Niro gained fifty pounds for 'The Raging Bull' only to return to his true form for he fight scenes. Dedication to one's craft, I think it is termed. It will be great to see her, once again...

Wow, that's certainly a tight schedule for LDW. I am definitely looking forward to this since it stars two awesome A-listers in my book. I'm crossing my fingers that, despite it's sadistic premise, it'll be humor-filled. Dr. Champ was a successful drama, so i'm expecting the same (or more) amount of love for this. ^^

FFS...first Lee Min Ho is going to shoot a CF and now Scent of a Woman is mostly going to filmed in Australia...
Of all the years it had to happen, IT HAPPENS WHEN I'M STUCK IN KOREA FOR THE YEAR~~ D: D: D:
GAH~ I miss Melbourne and the glorious unpredictability of the weather. Where you watch the weather part of the news and know it's gonna be about 3-10 degrees less/more. And you pack an umbrella just in case. *sigh*
