Yoo Seung-ho gets villainous for Warrior Baek Dong-soo

My interest level in upcoming fusion sageuk Warrior Baek Dong-soo just shot up about a million points with the addition of Yoo Seung-ho, aka Little So Ji-sub, aka Korea’s Little Brother, aka poster boy for the Inappropriate Crushes on Much Younger Men Club.
The Joseon-era drama will feature its martial arts angle prominently, which’ll come into play as the secret group planning the assassination of King Jeongjo clashes with Jeongjo’s team of bodyguards. Yoo Seung-ho will play Yeo-woon, a core member of the secret organization, an assassin who’s a master of swordsmanship, archery, horseback riding, and martial arts.
Interestingly, Yoo was reportedly offered the lead role of Baek Dong-soo but chose to play Yeo-woon instead, and the Dong-soo role has since gone to Ji Chang-wook (Smile Dong-hae, Sons of Sol Pharmacy). It’s a little surprising at first glance because even at 17 years old, Yoo is a much bigger star than 23-year-old Ji, who’s just starting to make his name known. One would automatically expect that Yoo would take the hero’s role and Ji would play second fiddle.
However, according to one source with the drama, the Yeo-woon role is “a character appealing enough to even surpass Baek Dong-soo,” which makes it not unlike Go Hyun-jung’s awesome Mi-shil in Queen Seon-deok. A rep with Yoo’s side said, “Yoo Seung-ho decided that as an actor, the villainous Yeo-woon role would be a big help in expanding his acting range, which is why he chose to take it.”
A male Mi-shil? Yoo Seung-ho playing a sword-wielding, ass-kicking, secret-harboring bad guy? Preferably all scruffed up, shaggy-haired, and wearing lots of black? Yes, yes, YES please! I’m picturing him pulling a Yoo Ah-in as the dark assassin in 2008’s (mediocre, sadly) fusion fighting sageuk Strongest Chil-woo — and I’d like to take this moment to tell y’all that I TOLD YOU SO. You’re welcome.
So, in short: Ji Chang-wook is the noble good guy defending the king, and Yoo Seung-ho is the mysterious baddie plotting to kill him. Two beautiful boys, going at it with swords and fists and all manner of fighting techniques. Yup, this one’s on my list.

Moon Geun Young had the title for a while, but now that she's growing up, I don't think its quite as appropriate anymore. I would say Nam Ji Hyun is Korean's little sister. And plus Yoo Seung Ho started acting at a much younger age than Kim Soo Hyun. So drama fans have sorta "watched him grow up."

I think Moon Geun Young's finally transitioned out of Nation's Little Sister to becoming the Natalie Portman of Korea.
The (exceptionally talented) Shim Eun Kyung took over as the Nation's Little Sister. But she's put her acting career on freeze studying in Pittsburg, and derailing bizarre (translation: stoooopid) rumors that she's Seo Taji/Lee Ji Ah's daughter ("Onma, how come you can't act as good as me?")
Nam Ji Hyung is the new candidate for Nation's Little Sister. But I'm sure we'll find out So Ji Sup's secret wife, and mother of Yo Seung Ho. Oh Korea, you entertain me so!

I think Korea hasn't had a scandal this big for a while that some people are having a little too much fun to think up of big stories like this.
The Seo/Lee story is so big, it's hard to believe. Since it's already so crazy, I think it's now purely entertainment to some people to add on to the story :/
Sadly, it's affecting others (involved or not) in a negative way... :/
MGY kinda left the little sister position (IMO) and went to the far away place of that top A-list group. She's probably not a little sister anymore, but princess now.

IMHO, some up-and-coming contenders for the 'Little Sister' title are: Seo Shin Ae, Kim Yoo Jung and Kim Sae Ron. All of them are so young, but super talented.

I see quite a few young actors being called korea's little brother/sister, i think the term is used loosely and not to be taken too seriously. I wouldn't be surprised if won bin's little friend kim saeron will be called korea's ittle sister atleast once in an article.

I think he goes for a Bidamish like role - Bidam was the male villain and he spend a lot of time with him - or better a swordman Kim Chun Chu
indeed the route is a lil similar with Mishil's route - however YSH makes subversive plots looking sexy ( I loved him as the naughty lil evil Kim Chun Chu(even he supported the queenie to bits) more than his next role in God of Study
if he and scriptwriters offer me smth even better than in QSD I'm all in (I watched 50 eps of Flames of jailbait just for him)

In a way I feel a bored Yoo Seung Ho - plssssssssss don't make me put the same faces on the screen!I'll have poor kitten expression wrinkles! He is at the age when things become obsolete pretty fast and he already has more time spent in front of the camera than half of the senior crew, besides he was so sweet in Flames of ambition that I think he got a diabetes himself from the sweetness of Min Jae
on the other hand accomplished careers after a bad boys chars skyrocketed like Cha Seung Won, Kang Dong Won, Park Shi Hoo, KNG, GHJ(MiSHil), some of them made a big debut from being bad Foxy Hunter, Joo Won as Gu MaJun-
YSH can't miss with this coz shallow bad ain't exactly hard even T-ara's EunJung was better as baddie rather than bubbling secretary- and is easier to act-coz yelling and crawling and doing I'm evil faces ain't as hard as - Ship me and my OTP faces

I'm 31... my 11th grade pupils are 18 - one of them looks like him
However I don't think it is hormonal but in a way it is nice to watch him acting- my husband loved his Kim Shun Chu - and for me is just a joy to watch him and yell at at screen "look at his face"- or "look what he did to him/her" - he he is very expressive and he is way more talented than senior cast (he and Shin Eun Kyung - the Hwang Jin Yi/Legend/Bad Boy girl)

Wow! I must concur that my interest has significantly peaked! I was just meh about it but now I'm kind of really excited. Yoo Seung-ho is a good, young actor and to see him actively choose roles to expand is great. He is adorable plus hot villians are HOT!
Anyways, too much light can lead to skin cancer so everyone could use some darkness once in a while^^

It is also very nice when actors who you would typically put in lead roles accept supporting or villain roles. Like Eugene in Baker King. It is great to see them showcase their versatility and also show they aren't big-headed celebs. ;) Hehe.

I don't know man, my heart kind of sank a little when I first learned of Yoo Seung-ho's casting. I don't even hate him. But I am tempted to FF all his scenes in Flames of Ambition (and well, every drama/film he's ever done. -- but I don't hate him... I don't think. Erm.)
I have a deep seated respect for Choi Min-soo, Yeo Jin-gu and Nam Ji-hyun. These three are incredible, and it gives me some hope as to the quality of this show.
Now they should just cast Jung Eun-byul (the only promising actress from that particular age bracket) and maybe Kim Ha-eun and I'll be made. (And hey, it'll finally put an end to the Lee Jiah 'threat'.)
Cast aside, the PDs are OK, OB-GYN was decently done. Ja Myung-go was aesthetically, nicely shot with some fantasy elements, so that aspect's OK.
Now it all rests on the writer.

I like both actor, but I totally going cougar with Seung-Ho. I'm so impress with Seung-Ho reason why he chose to be second lead in this drama I totally want to take his innocent because dammit I think it would taste so sweet.

I refuse to count how many times I've watched the T-ara MV for "It's all Lies" (maybe 2631 give or take a few)

Eeeeeeeeeeee. Chunchu and young Damdeok. I think he can pull this off very well; I loved that scene in Legend where young Damdeok confronted his aunt, although I didn't know at that time that he was Yoo Seung Ho! [Probably the scene that stuck with me most from the entire drama, haha.] I also liked the way he played Chunchu in Seon Deok. Will be looking forward to this!

Actually in the dramaland elsewhere or movieland elsewhere, taking on a villain role is not necessarily a bad thing...it allows you to stand out more esp if the role is really complex which villains are usually...
I say good try lad....this could be really cool...I love martial arts and hope to see a good korean martial arts drama...

I kind of like when more experience actor considered to take second lead/supporting roles as it will be able to sold the story even better, in the context of plot delivery and such. At least I would not feel the necessary characters due to hair-standing-erk acting imo.
