Upcoming drama Festival changes its title
by girlfriday
…to… You’ve Fallen For Me [넌 내게 반했어]. Well, I like it, for starters a hell of a lot better than the bland original title Festival. The upcoming campus music drama starring You’re Beautiful‘s Park Shin-hye and Jung Yong-hwa went through an interesting process to get the name change, by asking fans to give their suggestions in a title contest.
Gotta say, that’s kind of brilliant, if you think about it. You garner interest and early buzz from fans, you get them invested in the drama by involving them in behind-the-scenes stuff, and most importantly, you get over 4000 titles to choose from that you didn’t have to think of yourself. Way to go, drama staff. You win today’s evil genius award.
The first thing I thought of when I read the title is the super catchy song of the same name by No Brain, which you might recognize from a scene in Coffee Prince, where Eun-chan and Han-kyul get drunk and start singing it to each other in the street.
“넌 내게 반했어” by No Brain. I DARE YOU not to get it stuck in your head all day.
You’ve Fallen For Me is basically the college version of Dream High, which is kinda what What’s Up is supposed to be, though I’m sure each has its nuanced differences. This particular iteration, set in a performing arts college, is described as a “youth melodrama.”
Hm. I wonder then if PD Pyo Min-soo will be going more Worlds Within than Coffee House. I…don’t know how I feel about the prospect of Park and Jung being anything but cute. That’s sort of the entire basis of their appeal. I’ll be crossing my fingers for a more Full-/Coffee- House vibe, with the cast he’s got. Dream High managed to be serious when it needed to, in a youthful and earnest way, so perhaps they can make that work here.
You’ve Fallen For Me premieres on Wednesday June 29 on MBC, following Best Love.

Well, well. Good tactics indeed. That way, they kind of show that they will driven us to tag along the drama in good directions, given the chance for the fans get involved and all, for example.

I still don't know how I feel about this pairing. I don't think either of them are particularly good at acting (PSH is ok I guess) and when you mix bad acting with melodramas...yeah. I hope this drama doesn't flounder in mediocrity though.

넌 내게 반했어! Been searching for that song after (yes) it got stuck in my head after watching Coffee Prince. Thank you~
I really love PSH, but I'm not quite excited yet for this one. Perhaps after it aired a couple of episodes that I might change my mind, but as of now I'm still meh about it.

I really like the song. It's like one of those Punk Rock songs I loved in High School, and I admit, still do. Heh. X)
I was trying to remember who they reminded me of, and it made me dig up some of my FLOW and Orange Range and the feel was kind of there. A more punk and less reggae feel compared to Radwimps, and a bit harder than Simple Plan. It definitely made me think that it could be on an anime OST like the songs on Ouran High School, Naruto, Lovely Complex, One Piece, Ble..... You know what, I think it's a really good song and they look like a really cool group. Definitely going to start collecting their songs.

I hope they start with one of them as cute but evil - not self absorbed evil or sad evil, really evil that we can get behind.
Kind of like Yoon Seul in SG. She managed to evolve as a character but still remain true how she was first presented.

Wow, this is exactly what I thought when I saw the name change. I'm assuming this is part of MBC's ploy to get people to associate the drama with the song. Since the song is fun and addicting... the drama will be to (well... hopefully!). I'm excited for this and I have no expectations EXCEPT I would like to see many scenes of JYH performing because he has the most charisma (in my opinion) when he's on stage performing :D
-sidenote- I really hope What's Up gets an airing date!! I feel like it's just too good to be shelved! adkjfldaf

Wow...Dream High really has sparked a wave of Idol dramas. I hear another one's premiering a few days on a cable channel. It's called Big Hit. Interested to see if they can put their own original spin to the story. They claim it's even better than Dream High (to which I highly doubt). Here's the article: http://www.allkpop.com/2011/04/new-idol-themed-drama-big-hit-to-feature-two-upcoming-debuts

Hmmm.... "content that can only be covered by a cable channel"... sounds interesting. It would be cool to see a darker side of the idol industry (we all know there is one).

Is "dream high" the first idol drama? I thought its "You're Beautiful" - that's an idol drama too which was aired in late 2009.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

The song is pretty catchy, it's like listening to the Korean version of David Bowie's [remake of Queen's] "Under Pressure" which is in every jukebox in American university campuses.

@Carinne, I am sorry to have to correct you! : O )
I am a hardcore David Bowie fan, and at one point I own every album that he ever recorded, David Bowie recorded Under Pressure along with Queen in their 1982 album
"Hot Space," as far as I know he never "Remake" this song ever since, he does include the song when he performers in concert, but thats not what I consider a remake in the strict sense of the word!!!!!

I don't think jung yong hwa is ready to emote in a melodrama. On the other hand park shin hye has had experience in stairway to heaven and tree of heaven.

Fan of JYH's music but not his acting, so I agree. I wish the male lead was someone else.

I think
a) “You’ve Fallen For Me” : It's formal word
b) “You’re Into Me”? : It's a simple word for your close friends That's I thinks
(Nahn nuh ae gae ban haet suh) isn't the correct Korean to English romanisation for 난 내게 반했어, It's actually 난 너에게 반했어.I'm guessing that "난 너에게 반했어" is actually the real title because 난 내게 반했어 actually translates to I fell in love with myself.

The real title is actually "넌 내게 반했어" (Nuhn naegae ban haetsuh) which means YOU'VE Fallen For ME.

Can't think of anything about this drama, even with Full/Coffee House would not work for me(Jeez, now I remember, what's wrong with the name 'Page One'!!!, if they came up with a real novel 'Page one' by LJS at that time, I'm sure it would've sold like crazy.

Oooh, thanks I've been looking for this song :D
OTOH, still not excited. If they remove Jung Yong Hwa then I'm in. And also... a melodrama? So Park Shin Hye is back to her crying until her eyes shrivel mode again (Tree of Heaven was so hard to watch because of all the crying)? Or am I reading into it way too much?

Honestly, I don't get the hype of Dream High too much. It was good but it didn't sucked me in like you guys have. When I was watching it I'd basically speed up some of the scenes and sometimes I'd also be okay with just reading your review if I haven't got the time to watch the series. I basically just loved to see JYP and the teachers in the drama. Those for me were my highlights.

neon naegae banhaesseo! hahaha Coffee Prince used a lot of songs that I can't really remember each one.
Anyway, I wasn't big on the Mi Nam - Shin Woo couple but I'll be watching this. I'll be praying to the gods that Yong Hwa develops his acting. He just needs it.
