Moon Chae-won cast as sageuk princess

Moon Chae-won has been cast in her next drama, titled The Princess’s Man. Yay, maybe she’ll be able to cast off the pallor of her last drama, It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl, which was oddly watchable despite being a big wreck of muddled plotting and poor acting.
The Princess’s Man is being called a “Joseon-era Romeo and Juliet” and will be a fusion sageuk; Moon takes the lead role as Princess Lee Se-ryung, daughter to Grand Prince Su-yang (who was the second son of King Sejong the Great). She falls in love with the son of her father’s enemy, making for a “tragic love story.”
Princess Se-ryung is bold, inquisitive, determined — a set of characteristics not common or idealized in the ladies of Joseon aristocracy — but encounters a number of hardships because of her father’s ambition to become king. Historically, Su-yang (or Sejo) became the seventh king of Joseon, but in this drama he hasn’t yet secured the throne and plots to take the crown from his nephew Dan-jong. Naturally this meets with resistance from Dan-jong’s supporters, and therefore Su-yang is out to eliminate his opposition, which includes Kim Jong-seo, the father of Se-ryung’s beloved.
Hm. It’s an interesting way to incorporate a familiar and powerful love story into the crux of a sageuk drama, and I’m curious to see how it works out. Sageuks do include romantic plots, sometimes even feature them as prominent storylines, but historically speaking they’re more about the political machinations and power plays surrounding a monarch at its core, and the dynamics of the court. It’s really mostly been in recent years that romance has become such a strong player, and more so in the fusion series (Hong Gil Dong, Iljimae, Chuno).
This’ll be Moon’s second sageuk series, but third sageuk project overall; she first burst onto the scene as the gisaeng who fell for Moon Geun-young (in boy guise) in Painter of the Wind (see below), and has signed up for an upcoming movie titled Bow: Ultimate Weapon (which stars Park Hae-il and Ryu Seung-ryong).
The Princess’s Man is being planned for 24 episodes and takes to airwaves after Romance Town ends in July, and will be a Wednesday-Thursday KBS drama. Now, who’ll they cast as her Romeo? That’s the big question.

He's really due. He's already been in 4 sageuks (EOTS, Jumong, POTW, DY.) He's been a Sexy Beast. He's playing a Sexy Bastard. He even played a Sexy Bisexual (Jumong.) He's married Lee So-yeon once and killed her twice (LOL) And Han Hyo Joo's used him as a doormat to glorious ratings twice.

Hahaha so can we add Lee Min Ho as well . Kim Bum, Jung Il Woo , Lee Min Ho, fighting for the princess, the bffs in real life in the same saeguk together. Actually MCW is close with all of them. Everyone knew she is LMH's bff and she acted with JIW in My fair lady, and if I'm not mistaken, she also had a CF together with Kim Bum.Am I too greedy? Oh well a girl can dream right?

submit! I want that so badly! but it would be awful to Lee Seung Ki - coz he wants a role in a sageuk so badly
I would love to see No Min WOo more than 30 seconds per episode - they wasted his line-story in Midas and his acting skills
besides NMW looks good with long hair and his sleep is already adjusted to daily sleep and night filming :D -
I don't think he will act in a sageuk coz somehow my bet is that after Midas he will prepare for his fan-meeting at the end of May and he will take it a bit slower with the kdramas

Kim Jae Wook and No Min Woo in the same drama? ppl would say that they are brothers - kinda I don't want to hear that - coz they have different acting type and different personalities with all their rock out - I would kinda want to see a drama with big bro issues and angsty and well done - they both do the bad brother quite well and sexy to watch

Hwan + Seung Mi <3 That was a drama where I was really torn between the first and second leads; Hwan + Eun Sung was really cute, but I kept feeling sorry for Seung Mi there. If this ends up as a Hwan+Seung Mi (at last), I'll watch it, internet rates be damned, even if I have to change ISPs :P

It's said at first that aside Moon Chae Won (which is now already a fixed cast) they're also considering Moon Geun Young and Kim So Eun. While the main lead they're only considering one actor that is Lee Seunggi. *fingers crossed*

I'd really like to see Kim Soo Hyun try saguek...and if you ask me, I think he would be an incredible actor to consider.
Not that I know much about what type of person would really do the role of Romeo justice--I've literally always hated the classic/story theme (which has always gotten me into heated debates with friends)

Going off the synopsis it's sounding exactly like Ja Myung-go. With Jung Kyung-ho and Jung Ryeo-won as Prince Hodong and Princess Ja-myung respectively, from two opposing kingdoms who fall deeply in love.
So there's at least one sageuk there where the love story was the main focus.

WOW, I can ship any of the pairings you have given so far--just goes to show that the talent pool, not to mention the 'handsomeness-meter', for Korean actors is way deep and way high!!! But if it's a tragic love story, all I can think of is Lee Seung-gi all pained and anguished in My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and I'm sold. THOUGH! I miss Jae Hee so damn much and I think he has the acting chops to pull-off the emo too! *SWOON* at all the delectable choices! And MCW is so pretty and intelligent-looking, she's the only devious 2nd lead that I have not hated in a K-drama (in Brilliant Legacy).

I love watching MCW and she is also the only villain I don't dislike. I watched the BL special where they interviewed the casts, unfortunately she appeared very self conscious and not as confident as HHJ. I hope it's because she lacks exposure as a lead actress.
So excited and looking forward to MCW's new drama! I am hoping for Jo Hyun Jae!!

(we all know what Romeo & Juliet went through in the end, right? W/c makes me wonder, will they also meet the same fate???)
But, speaking aside, after this sageuk, then comes "The King and I" (if we're talking about history). Shuffling aside:
1) Did Yi Se-ryeong exist in real life? And if so, is she gongju (daughter to the Queen Consort) or ongju (daughter to a concubine, whichever rank she may be)?
(The latter question is because if she's "bold, inquisitive, determined", it would be hard for her to be like that if she's ongju over gongju...but then, princesses during Joseon weren't given much of a big role, d/t the ruling state idelogy at the time...)
2) Will Sejong daewang be present? Or if otherwise, will we see Suyang daegun's older brother (historical Munjong, 5th king, and Sejong's successor)? Also, will the 1453 coup and 1455 abdication happen???
3) Will we see the sayukshin (Danjong's 6 martyred ministers) here (and also their 1456 execution)? (because in "TKaI", some of the 6 somehow made their way in the drama)
4) Will Kim Jong-seo (MCW's beloved's father) be related to Kim Jil, coconspirator-turned-traitor to the sayukshin???
