Lee Shi-young and Song Sae-byuk for Cosmo
by girlfriday
Lee Shi-young and Song Sae-byuk‘s romantic comedy Dangerous Meeting has spent three consecutive weeks at the Number 1 spot in the Korean box office, grossing nearly $10 million (US dollars). The slapstick yet endearing rom-com about a couple from two warring clans (in the countryside regional differences can amount to un-marry-able odds, depending on the severity of the family) has been doing well commercially and critically since its release.
Here the couple poses for a fun photo spread in Cosmopolitan Korea that really showcases their comedic side. I adore them both separately, but together, they are kind of the perfect package. Below, Lee Shi-young sings a song for the film’s OST, called “When Time Passes,” which really showcases her light and pretty voice, maybe for the first time ever, since her singing voice hasn’t always been her strongest suit. This type of song suits her perfectly, and the MV matches her recording session with a few scenes from the film.
Dangerous Meeting is out in theaters now.

That first pic is so giggle-worthy! I always thought LSY was pretty, but she was never on my list of favorites until I read the article about her taking up amateur boxing. You gotta love a girl who's not afraid to get her face messed up, even after plastic surgery!

lol, witty comment!
I agree totally. I thought her personality on WGM was an act so I never really warmed up to her until seeing her as an actress. She has this fun-loving quality about her.
Like, it's cool when actors respect their craft and realise it's artistic potential but I also like when they dont take themselves seriously. :D

Gotta say - not a fan of the "ironic" afro. Adopting other culture's hair/clothes/style needs to be done pretty cautiously.

what do you mean by "ironic"? unless you meant iconic?!
i think the pic turned out cute and meant no offense, if ever offense was given as an impression to you. it's like many women doing the "asian eyes" [eyeliner] make-up. /shrugs

I am intrigued, what is this "Asian eyes" eyeliner make-up?

I think s/he was referring to that trend in the "twiggy" style outer edge lining that's coming back. I might be wrong though... rather than darkening the whole eyelid (smokey eyes), they're darkening the edges instead.

You mean, like that female teacher and her evil-turned-good-in-the-end apprentice in Dream High?

It's done very tongue-in-cheek. I'm usually the first to decry any latent sense of discrimination, but this was done very well.

As far as the 'Asian eye' thing, never heard it called that...always Egyptian or Cleopatra reference.

Oh Lee Shiyoung did sing once, as a featuring singer in one of Jun Jin's single when they were still together. Granted, she was only singing few lines, but her voice is fitting for the song, IMO.
The movie looks interesting!

LOL, these pictures are so hilarious!
I'm glad for LSY that the movie is doing well. She's talented and deserves the spotlight. Hopefully this will open up more opportunities for lead roles in films/dramas.

Thanks to the powers that be for getting Lee Si-Young involved in so many new projects. I guess after seeing her in the ring, it suddenly became a whole lot easier (and safer ;) to say , "Yes!"
