Won Bin’s Ajusshi at SF Asian American film fest

For those of you in the San Fransisco area who didn’t get the chance to see Won Bin in all his badass glory, now’s your shot. Seriously, see it on the big screen while you can. Ajusshi / The Man From Nowhere is playing tomorrow as a special presentation at the 29th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, described as “the largest and most prestigious international showcase of Asian and Asian American films.”

The screening will be at the historic Castro Theatre in San Francisco on Sunday, March 13, at 12pm. Tickets are $12 (and $11 for students/seniors). More info on the screening here.

The SF Asian American Film Fest is presented by the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), a national non-profit organization “dedicated to presenting stories that convey the richness and diversity of Asian American experiences to the broadest audiences possible.” This year’s festival will run from March 10-20, 2011 and will feature 110 films from over 20 countries as well as a variety of panels and interactive events.

Weird coincidence--I just watched this again movie last night! It's available on DVD from amazon, for anyone living in the U.S. You can also rent and stream it from amazon. Not as good as seeing it on the big screen, but better than not watching it at all!

I found it at my local best buy .....in..... Cleveland. Way far from san francisco and korea. It surprised the heck out of me. I thought I would have to order It off line. But no there it was in all its bluray glory.

You're not alone there Bubb. He had this whole L thing going for him (um, Death Note reference by the way). But his badassery made up for it. X)

Damn! I don't live in the SF area. I swear they usually have events on the west coast. They need to show people from the midwest some love too!!

Nevertheless, my favorite line from the movie was somewhere along the lines of "You guys are living for tomorrow, I'm just living for today" Won Bin is <3

And it'll be showing in Singapore!! Yaye! My heart stopped when I saw the trailers in the cinemas. :)

Autumn Tale with SSH and Song Hye Kyo

This is one of those where 2nd lead syndrome sets in from the git go.

They are all so young and beautiful in this drama.

I've watched this movie 2x in a one day last week. Won Bin is super duper awesome.... Very impressive, he doesn't have that many lines but the expression and the action is excellently portrayed by him. No wonder he got almost all the awards as best actor on this one.

I liked the movie so much that I pre-ordered it! Although, I wasn’t thrilled with the last scene, the movie overall was really good! If you haven’t seen it, you should check it out.

You should check out http://www.jscinema.net. That company brings some Korean films over to the U.S., and they are shown at select AMC theaters across the country. I saw Ajusshi at one of the theaters near Dallas, and today I saw Joseon’s Great Detective ("Detective K"). I don't see it playing in Houston, but keep an eye out for it.

Ok, I just checked out that website and don't see Detective K listed as showing, so maybe it isn't through that company. But do keep an eye out for Korean movies at an AMC theater near you. There might be one that shows them sometimes (particularly one that shows "AMC Independent" films).
