TGIF everyone!
On Girlfriday’s recommendation, I watched obth BOTTOM OF THE 9 WITH 2 OUTS and PLAN B.
Now I have a real hard on for Lee Jung Jin. Wanna jump his bones…just putting it out there. Hahahah.
So I’m looking for some more LJJ dramas to watch. Any recommendations?
Thanks

I watched 9 End 2 Outs after girlfriday recommended it, too! xD
I loved it.
I actually never thought I would watch it, thinking it was all about baseball. I'm planning to watch Plan B later. LJJ does have another drama he starred in with Su Ae! Except in this drama, he's the second lead. ): The drama is April Kiss (:
It's not on mysoju so I'm not sure where you could watch it.
Have you watched Love Story In Harvard?? He's the second lead but worth watching anyway (x

Do you know where I can watch the series? Dramafever doesn't work for me because i don't live in the US and dramacrazy's links are all broken and it's the same with mysoju. The Wat host keeps telling me that the "content isn't available for the moment" so i put it on my to do list to come back and try later but i'll be damned if i don't get the same message again. (9 ends 2 outs)

You could always watch Runaway...
Oh, and DramaFever has an actor page for him that lists his other dramas, and OMG look at the profile pic they have for him!!! *drools* http://www.dramafever.com/actor/209/Lee_Jung_Jin/

I watched 9 End 2 Outs 'cause of Girlfriday too! I actually downloaded all 16 episodes 'cause I couldn't find any streaming links online. Took awhile but well worth it! I love the conversations and relationships of all the characters. So realistic.
But unlike you, I'm kinda crushing hard on Lee Sang Woo now! Throughout the entire show, I'm like Jun Mo *_____* He has such twinkly eyes!

And though I love Wung Joo Sung and now, Su Ae, I don't know if I will be able to tolerate Athena, just from the recaps and reviews I've read. No, you certainly are not. There seems to be a general lack of new ideas in the Kdrama landscape lately. All the current and upcoming dramas seem to be following one of three trends:
1.The rich vs poor (this can either be the story of the man/woman that finds their way to the top amidst hardhips or the story of 2 ppl one rich, one ppor) : Midas, , Glittering, Royal Family and I think the upcoming Goodby Ms Ripley too fall here.
2. The Musical drama:Young ppl with dreams/ambitions in the entertainment biz. :Dream High, Dream High2, Musical, What's Up, Festival
3. The spy/action/crime drama: always a good guy vs bad guy drama: Sign, Crime Squad, Poseidon, Athena 2, Iris 2, Poseidon, Peninsula, City Hunter
Of course I'm generalizing here and there are elements that mark each of these dramas as a little different and I dont know if I put any in the wrong categories or if I missed any since I'm not watching all these but the bottom line is that there seems to be a lack of new and interesting premises and frankly these seem to bore me. Of course, there seems to be drawing attention too like SG, 49 days but I think these can be made more intersesting because with fantasy there is always room to create a new world

Hey Sylvia, I've only seen 5 episodes of Sparkling-Twinkle Twinkle-All that Glitters (what a mouth full). The subbing is a bit slow (not that I'm complaining, I'm very thankful to the subbers). So far, is cute and predictable. They nail through our heads that the girls were switch at birth, so no spoiler here. But still, I'm enjoying it :)
Midas is about power and money and about the power money and greed have on people. How far can one go and what one's willing to leave behind to obtain them. Jang Hyuk's character goes from a loving boyfriend to a cold hearted bastard when he completes his journey to the dark side. And I'm dying to see his fall from grace :)

Yay! Someone else is watching Twinkle Twinkle! The subbing is a bit slow, but I've been behind with stuff in general so I haven't minded. Case in point, I've only watched through part 1 of Episode 3. >.< Anywho...it is predictable, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. What I'm really liking is that (crap, can't remember anyone's name yet) Geum Ran(?), the poor one, isn't just horrible for no reason. It's likely that she's going to be our Femme Fatale, but she's a sympathetic one. She's had all these not-great circumstances thrown at her and has, foolishly, hung all her hopes of a future on a waste-of-space fiance. Her real fault, I suppose, is not taking control of her own life, which our lead (whose name I genuinely have forgotten) points out in their first meeting.

I loved Lawyers! Enjoy it for the cute fluffy fluff it is. Lee Soo Kyung is really good at it and this why Paradise Ranch turned me off. The lead actress is really trying to pull off the Lee Soo Kyung ditz but failing. Are you watching for Lee Soo Kyung or Ryu Seung Ryong? I recommend Bad Couple as another good Ryu Seung Ryong drama.

I'm watching, but skipping almost all the scenes with the parents.
There is way too much repetition of how everyone feels about stuff and how much they feel bad for doing stupid things.
I like the scenes with the Jung Won and the Editor, Seung Joon. There is something about the "I know everything" alpha male that perks me right up. I know IRL, I would/have battled them, and enjoyed myself immensely.
The other poor girl, right now, I have no sympathy for. She is kinduv a crybaby.

Yeah I've only seen the first episode of Royal Family but already I'm liking the dynamic b/w the main couple. THIS is how they should do it for younger boy/older woman storyline - I can actually FEEL the tension b/w them, and looking forward to their courtship.
And I think Ji Sung is acting awesome in his role, which is a pleasant surprise because I didn't like him in either Swallow The Sun/ New Heart. How can he be cute and sexy at the same time?

March 18, 2011 at 5:07 PM
angelpur,
*****Royal Family Spoiler Alert*****
Well, possibly, but I don't want to get in trouble for not warning people.
I am up to episode six on RF. Since it is a serious melodrama and not a rom-com, it is a little different.
At first the female lead, the older woman, appears to be completely helpless, a cry baby if you will, but she really isn't. That can be an initial turn off because generally the older woman is very strong, honest, and independent, hence why, she is older and still available. This female lead can lie through her teeth and extract revenge happily. I think mom-in-law sees through her or mom-in-law's hatred of her changed her, not sure which yet. But some of the characteristics the female lead is exhibiting is generally reserved for the evil second female lead.
Now the male lead, the younger man, is pretty much "an open book". He is strong-willed, young at heart, vibrant, menacing, and loves to have fun. But he is blindly protective of the female lead. The female lead is hiding one hum-dinger of a secret from him.
From my observation of watching various dramas where the woman is older/man is younger it has always been the man who has a meek character and the woman a dominant one. I don't think that is going to happen in this drama.
I think they are going to be pretty evenly matched in character. But since I am not the writer and look how "Mary stayed out all night" turned out... I don't know for sure.
They haven't gotten into the romance part of it yet. But it's warming up in Episodes 5 & 6. Jealous looks are starting to come from the female leads eyes!

Ooh, another Royal Family watcher!
I decided to give it a shot because it being mentioned in Korean media a lot, and got totally sucked in and watched all 6 episodes this weekend.
I like the fast pacing and the ambiguity so far - is In-Sook (the female lead) really evil or was she turned vengeful by the mistreatment she received from her in-laws? What is her real relationship to Ji-Hoon (the young prosecutor turned lawyer for JK Group)?

In recent discussions, it has become apparent that there are grave misrepresentations and gross ignorance on the subject of the sexual exploitation of women.
Exploitation is the use or utilization of a resource, person, or situation to the advantage of the user and to the disadvantage or harm of the resource, person or situation, usually for economic, social, or positional gain in power of the user. Exploitation occurs in environments in which deception, coercion, or force are used to convince or propel the resource, person or situation into being exploited without clear and honest end goals or without means of escaping the exploitation being presented.
Men maintain the key decision-making positions in all social, political and religious institutions that define, control and organize societies in the world. With this institutional power, men devise, enact and continue practices and policies that give themselves the power to control women's sexuality in all public and private arenas.
Women are sold, enticed, pressured, or endure incest, rape, abuse, and exploitation, which desensitizes and accommodates them to violence, subjugation, and exploitation until eventually they think this is their role to undertake. Addictions, emotional vulnerability, poverty, desperation to support family, war, famine, and economic crises all lead to social infrastructures in which force, coercion, deception, seduction and a variety of other techniques are used by men to effectively traffick women into sexual exploitation.
Sexual exploitation of women is a supply and demand market. Men create the demand and women are the supply. Women's bodies are used to market consumer goods, women themselves are a good to be consumed, and women comply in hope that eventually they will earn enough or find a way to escape the exploitation, whether it is in the form of prostitution, coercion, deception, or seduction.
Women who are exploited suffer from depression, anxiety, post-traumatic distress, and all other forms of emotional distress, as well as harm to their physical well-being through force, infectious diseases, repeated abortions or childbirth, and other assaults on their dignity and bodily integrity.
All forms of exploitation have the whole purpose of women sexually serving men, a degraded status. At no time does exploitation lead to positions of power to the exploited, as the very definition of exploitation puts the exploited at a permanent disadvantage, including but not limited to: loss of position, power, reputation, standing, health, emotional stability, and life. The exploitation continues long after any act of exploitation is passed, as public knowledge of the exploitation leads to mob mentality in
castigating the exploited instead of conversely castigating the exploiters: reflecting the lowest intellectual level of the common people.
No form of sexual exploitation leads to the liberation or empowerment of women, or enhances the rights or status of women. Sexual exploitation of women is a historical and modern systemic method to control and abuse women by men in positions of power and authority who hold decision-making positions over the women.
Any culture or society that openly or secretly trafficks in the sexual exploitation of women creates a second-class citizenship and is therefore, not a democracy. All sexual exploitation of women trafficks in criminal activity as the abuse, coercion, seduction or force must be kept secret through leverage, suppression, enslavement, or abduction, or is openly legalized and regulated by the men in positions of power over women.

That's a fantastic summary of a tragic, horrible issue. Some of the recent situations I've been seeing pop up in re: the Korean entertainment industry are increasingly horrifying...leaders of countries in this world, and regular citizens as well, need to take a firm stand agains this problem. It's unreal that it persists in being such a massive issue in so many supposedly 'civilised' or 'progressive' countries. There is simply no way that we can call ourselves 'civilised' even as we're allowing the sexual exploitation of women and children to continue. In my work, I encounter a lot of people who are a part of different movements trying to counteract exploitation, and I applaud their work, but I wish more governments and officials would support it instead of simply ignoring it or brushing it under the carpet!

Okay it's true that I have no true understanding of this issue. I can't. I've never experienced it in anyway. While I think there are empirical values for everything, or an ideal situation I believe that there are justified variables that are also empirical values. It's true that in places where equal rights are moving ( both forward and backwards) there are things that we cannot accept for ourselves and others but we feel this way because we must and disparities in other places are also as they must be.
I don't mean to sound complacent I only want to acknowledge a limitation of external pressure.

9 Dream High season 2
March 18, 2011 at 7:10 AM
http://www.soompi.com/news/kbs-plans-to-air-second-season-of-dream-high-early-next-year
KBS is currently in the works of finalizing a deal for another season of its hit drama series “Dream High.” According to KBS officials, “Dream High” is already in the early planning stages for its second season, under the goal of airing it as early as Jan. 2012.
“We are planning to produce the second season of ‘Dream High.’ We can’t reveal any detailed plans at this point as nothing has been confirmed, but the overall format will be similar to the first season and perhaps we’ll be able to air it from early next year,” an official from KBS told local media. It’s unclear if the star-studded cast of Season One, including Park Jin Young, Bae Yong Joon, miss-A’s Suzy, 2PM’s Taecyeon and Woo Young, and IU will star again in Season Two. But it’s reported that Key East Entertainment and JYP Entertainment will jointly work again for the production of this season, raising hopes for another show with a group of idol star appearances.
Before the first season of “Dream High” got aired, many questioned its quality of acting and storyline, as it involved a lot of idol stars with little acting experience. But as the show went on, the idol star cast displayed improved acting skills and the plot turned out to be quite interesting, resulting in the show garnering an average TV rating of 15.7%, which was the highest rating in the Monday-Tuesday prime time slots.

i know Taec has been looking at early enlistment but i highly doubt Kim Soo Hyun or Wooyoung will be leaving anytime soon, they dont hit their deadline for like another 6 yrs... i think (they are both 88ers)....sadly all the popular young uns are 87ers (Jang Geun Suk, Lee Min Ho, Jung Il Woo) ...so those two years when these guys leave will be very sad ones ...plus the girls are not going anywhere so I think we could expect them to make a comeback.....to be honest though I dont think we'll be seeing any of them in the next season excpet for maybe the teachers 'cuz kdrama hardly follow true sequels (correct me if i'm wrong here)...but I'm not complaining 'cuz i think Dream High's main appeal to me was the freshness factor, so i welcome seeing new faces in the next season...just one wish though: please also make sure that the idols can also act better than the cast of the first season 'cuz that (for me) was the drama's biggest weakness

Better singers and no BYJ please!! This BYJ makes the first few episodes too tense!!
Also, more dancing like those can be found in Alvin and the Chipmunks 2!! Jason and Pilsuk are cute, like Theodore and Eleanor...more please.
Please retain Samdong, and the rest of the casts can be made redundant or only as guest stars!!

There is this neighborhood oppa sexiness to Kim Rae Won that I just adore. He grows on you and he is a great actor. I can't remember the name of the actor Spencer Tracy gave this advice to " Never let them see you acting." but I always look to see non-acting acting. Not so much the kind that you get when the actor completely embraces the character and you link the two together it's just an ease in portraying everything, so just when you want to be a cynic you're caught off guard by the moment that isn't really a moment. Kim Rae Won has it.

He is effortlessly hot, and starring in my romance novel.
It emanates from deep inside him somewhere, having nothing to do with being dressed correctly, or having snazzy hair. His hotness rumbles and rambles and reaches exactly the right spot in me to make me go hmmmmm.

Ahjummabunny,
That is one of the most appropriate descriptions of Kim Rae Won's acting ever. I'm tempted to just do a caps lock and set of exclamation marks but yours is the meaning behind all those poorly placed (and heavily abused) grammar marks. He really creates a character that - isn't, is not a "character" that is. It's like your fully aware you're watching something, but it gives you a sincerity that makes you FEEL as if you're watching something, rather then watching a drama, a real something I suppose. An actor to be really, really, proud of having.

March 18, 2011 at 1:15 PM
ahjummabunny, cant seem to pinpoint that "something" that Kim Rae Won has before. you said it well. I've only seen him in "My Little Bride" and "...ing" and in both film/drama he comes out as that effortless and natural actor that you described.

I believe Mary was made to test my faith. Such a great premise, good start, and I adore the leads. I watched every ep, still holding out hope that they would turn the ship back around into something awesome. I think it just proves my love is true. I can forgive JGS for his dalliance in the mediocre. And I'm ever so ready for him to show up in a box on my doorstep and be My Pet.

Mary was awesome! Especially after you turned off the sound and added your own dialogue! I stopped watching it subbed, 'cause that just hurt my head. There were some great moments when they found out about The Cancer, some sibling issues (but don't worry, that cleared up with some medication), a threat from Darth Vader, and looking up how to make some bombs. Bombs always make everything better.

Lisah, have you by chance seen 'What's Up Fox?' I saw it a month or so ago and went completely Chun Jung-Myung mad, it was lovely (the madness and the drama).
Diadda has really good taste too! Have you seen 'Attic Cat?' If not, why not? Why are you still on this page? Go and watch as fast as 60 minute episodes can be watched!
Finally....from my own fan girl perspectives....Jo In Sung? 'What Happened in Bali?' It's definitely not a comedy - but no drama has ever had me so drawn as that one (the above two are EXTREMELY close, and different genres, and therefore differently judged)
Good luck finding one you like! (It's so hard after you've just finished a really good one isn't it!)

And as far as Romantic Comedy goes nothing (except a tie with Attic Cat) beats "What's Up Fox?" and Go Hyun Jung (?) is one of the female actors whose performance is....just really wonderful. I love how she doesn't go for the cliche female drama role and really just seems tangible and real.

I think I first saw CJM in Cinderella. So I started looking for other stuff with him and saw What's Up Fox? That's where it went from "oh, he's cute..." to "I'm in luuuurve!". I nearly passed OUT when he appeared as a jewel thief in a wet suit in Fashion 70s. What's Up is one of my all time faves, I just thought the subplot with her sister was really weak.

Who else here is on a drama dry spell? I know I am! I'm certainly looking forward to Discovery of Affection with Cha Seung-won and Gong Hyo-jin though; that certainly is an interesting pair. Another noteworthy cast would definitely be that of Goodbye Miss Ripley, as the last thing I watched Lee Da Hae in was My Girl! It's rather interesting the kind of media and popular opinion she's been getting lately. Not to mention, I'm also keeping my eyes peeled for the Dream High rating! It'll be fun to see JB and GF rate that crack-tastic show [objectively.] Cheers to it being Friiiday, Friiiday. To your dismay and because I can:

A few hours ago, all of Japan stood frozen - a minute of silence, a moment to mourn without the distraction of life, where all wept while holding their broken hearts in their hands.
7,000 confirmed fatalities, another 10,000 officially still missing.
Against this darkness though, tiny points of light shine as bright as the sun - a newborn baby found alive and unhurt amidst the carnage, an elderly couple who survived by holding hands, a father who finds his son after losing nearly all hope, and how an entire nation works with pride, without malice or thoughts of personal gain, to restore hope to those who have lost it.
But while the wall-to-wall, 24/7 media reports cynically focus on the nuclear radiation issue because it makes for better ratings, so much of the humanity in this tragedy goes unreported.
As humans, we learn from our mistakes. This is how we grow. And we learn, hopefully, from our good examples as well.
And in this tragedy, at the very least, for the sake of those who have been lost, there is much to be learned about how to face tragedy, how to prepare against it, and how to respond if you are among the fortunate who have not been directly affected.
Maybe we can turn off the cable news and internet reports just for a moment, and do our own moment of silence and reflection. Life is that precious, and we should all live it in a way that reflects that value.

I have family back in Pakistan. We also suffered from a devastating earthquake and floods in the past. Pakistan still has not recovered from them. So, I know it is going to take a long time for Japan to get back on its feet. The months to come are going to be the hardest for those left homeless, the elderly and the children who are now orphans. Please remember them in your prayers. May God watch over them. Ameen.

Have been praying for the country of Japan every day this week...every time I see the news reports my heart just breaks for them. I come from a part of the world that experiences destruction from hurricanes fairly frequently, and I've seen my own area destroyed by flooding and people's homes washed away, but this is beyond anything I've ever seen. May God be with them all and somehow bring peace to them as they process this tragic circumstance...

I second the thanks for the Post. My heart bleeds for the people of Japan and anyone who has suffered loss due to that tragedy. It's just terrible.
But among the things we can learn from this, is that just because there is a tragedy or things are chaos, people don't have to act like animals. I completely respect the order that's there. I'm in awe of their complete respect for each other. There's no looting, no rioting. If only we can all be so stoic in the face of tragedy.

My heart goes out to the people of Japan at this difficult and unprecedented time... its hard to imagine an earthquake, tsunami & nuclear threat all within days of each other. Snow & freezing weather is hampering rescue effort as well. It amazes me when I watch how the Japanese does not fight over a tiny ball of rice a day and still line up orderly, without fuss... and the many heros/heroines in Japan, from the workers in the nuclear plant , to the nurses, the doctors, the rescue teams....some in the nuclear threat zones, risking their own lives.... If you are in Japan or from Japan... please be strong, know that even a beautiful lotus grows from the mud and that Japan.... that the SUN will rise again..

I haven't seen it or the original yet. I heard the original was sort of sad. I don't like sad too much.
I am currently watching December Fever, which is sad too, but I like Uhm Jung Hwa (female lead) in it who also did Seducing Mr. Perfect and Get Karl! Oh Soo Jung.

Here is another site. LiveJournal, they are doing an auction. Authors and Artists are banding together. You bid on their items and if you win you donate the amount you bid to Red Cross or another charity. After you have e-mailed your receipt you will get your item. None of the people are getting paid for this. Some example of things up for auction are fan art and fan fiction. There are some really good Writers and Artists out there. http://community.livejournal.com/help_japan/

Just finished Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy (aka Hello My Teacher) and I was puzzled by the scene where one of her students asks Na Bo Ri if she is ashamed of her father being a monk. Would that be because he has opted out of the economy, out of society, out of his family obligations, some combination of the above, or is it the religious angle? This probably shows my cultural ignorance, but I really am curious about it. Thanks for any help in understanding.

Happy Friday to all!
My, what a drama slump I've been in. Since My Princess ended, I've been floundering dramawise (well, life-wise too, but that's another story). I've been trying to watch Paradise Ranch, but Episode 13 was exceedingly dull and I just fast-forwarded through most of 14. So. Darn. Boring. And I sat through most of It's Okay, Daddy's Girl, which was totally meandering, but caught me with the Ae Ryung/Jin Gu match-up. I haven't been this bored by a drama since Taste Sweet Love (ugh, ack).
So, what did I do? Watch a Disney (aka, some would say pandering-to-the-masses-of-teeny-boppers, lol) movie called StarStruck and found it all right. It had a decidely kdrama feel, which is probably because it was PG (or maybe even G). I guess I have something to tide me over now. You guys?

Okay I had a similar experience recently. I am watching period drama it is really good. The plotting of the plot is a bit typical but the overall story is great.
King Geunchogo/The King of Legend
There are the Kim Soo Hyun dramas: Will it snow for christmas and Giant. Will it Snow is a melodrama that grips your intestines and makes you feel like hurling but the pacing and the great acting of Kim Soo Hyun, Nam Ji hyun, Jo Min Soo and eye candy of Go Soo makes it a must see. ( There is a happy ending)
There's Dae Mul. I like the love story here. I didn't know about the original plans for the story so I wasn't disappointed with the changes. It has the wonderful Miss Go Hyun Jung. It is a bit silly at times but there are good moments. It's an easy watch.
When Spring Comes is a great family/legal drama. It has a nice role for Park Si Yeon. I always wish she could get good roles like this one or like the one in A Man's Story.
I hope that you find something even if it isn't one that I suggested.

Yeah, I had the same reaction to #13 and #14 of Paradise Ranch. Endless weeping and wingeing. Sheesh. A dangerous low point in the drama. But it seemed to wind up OK, and SCM did just fine overall, in my opinion.

Hm. I haven't gotten to 49 days yet because since yesterday only one thought has occupied my mind.....
MARCH.
MADNESS.
Is anybody else obsessed about March Madness like I am??! I am checking ESPN all the time and every time my brackets take a dent I feel the pain.. As of yesterday I watched like 12 hours straight of NCAA Bball...
(This is when you insert "cool story bro"....)
ANYWAY. I could go on forever about sports, but I am watching Thorn Birds and I seriously do not understand how Joo Sangwook's character is even into Kim Minjung's character... It is quite frustrating. And KMJ plays a completely manipulative woman whom I would love to tear into pieces. Raises my blood pressure every time I watch it (and I still do... JSW has that power over me.......)
As for Midas, I feel bad for Lee Minjung's character. And all I'm watching for at this point (I don't even care about the acquisition crap) is a) LMJ eventually gets together with NMW's character even though it is a tragic ending for them but the two of them have good chemistry as compared to LMJ and JH, and b) JH totally gets beat to the ground and I laugh evil laughter behind the computer screen..... Yeah.
BUT I NEED TO GET ON 49 DAYS.... BUT AS OF NOW, MARCH MADNESS FTWWWWw AND SPRING BREAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

I know what you mean about JSW falling for KMJ's character. It doesn't many ANY sense to me at all. I guess the one thing she has going for her, is that she tells him that she is manipulating him, as a scheme to manipulate him even more. ARG. She actually makes me quite upset. I will keep watching though, because JSW is the future father of my children. He just doesn't know it yet :D

having a lower case week in a lower case month
watching GIANT. very lower case, as in, how much misery can such a small group of people inflict on each other over 60 episodes? a lot, i'm guessing.
i'll still finish it, but i find i take a lot of "happiness" breaks.
why do this? because of Joo Sang Wook. he is very UPPERCASE.
Jo Min Woo
his pretty little smiles flash, then are gone.
they don’t mean “I’m happy” at all.
he smiles in his grief, in his shame, as a plea
to be cherished, respected, to not be
the kid who cheated his way to the top
that nobody really can trust as a friend.
every episode he breaks my heart.

I'm still waiting for subs for 49 Days. Reviews so far seem pretty positive, so I'm looking forward to it. Is it very dramatic though? Or does it have a more light-hearted/comedic feel? Just wanna know what to expect!
Anyway, what I've been up to these past few days... finally finished 9 End 2 Outs (thanks Girlfriday for the recommendation!), and now I'm catching up on Paradise Ranch, slowly but surely. I've gotten into Korean movies recently too (I've always been more of a drama person) and I'm slowly watching all the chick flicks. Hey Justine!
If you like romantic comedy movies...
Sweet Lies - very good, cute, predictable but in a way that keeps you at ease and free to enjoy it for the assurance.
My Boyfriend is Type B - despite hating the lead B-guy, you'll enjoy the movie (and hey the leads became a real life coupe so the chemistry is good right?)
Old Miss Diary - I can't tell you how much I love this movie. I just....well i really can't - just watch it. It's stunningly done.
...ing - It has Kim Rae Won in it (same lead actor as in Little Bride) so that is motivation enough - but quite sad, if that's a turn off.
Enough right? Good luck with your internship! Fighting!

Hope you've all had a good week, despite the sadness that is coming to us from Japan...it's heartwrenching to watch that situation, but hopefully we can keep praying and trying to help in our small ways!
So, I've been waiting for 49 Days to start, and I'm finally going to watch it tonight - so excited! I've been using the American TV show Castle as a stop-gap while I've waited for my next K-Drama obsession, and it's worked quite well. :)
I'm so annoyed this morning because I had to switch from a Florida driver's license to a Missouri one. I know it's petty, but I'd rather have my license look like it came from a sunny, beautiful place than from a nasty, bare, brown Mid-Western place. LOL! >.<

TGIF everyone!!
After finishing My Princess and Dream High I went through drama drought. I pulled myself up and decided I should venture into genres I have not gone before! So I picked up Midas, just cos of cuties like Noh Min Woo and Lee Min Jung. Also tried watching President and Paradise Ranch. Of course I'll be watching 49 days when the english subs are out.
I must say I kinda enjoy the change in genre but it also highlighted why I have stuck to rom-com because even with very fast subs (therefore not very accurate) one can still enjoy the courting and feel the relationship and the cute via the acting.
When it comes to the more serious stuff, it's harder if you don't actually get what transpires in the dialogue. Especially harder since no one else does recaps to help me understand.
That said, I am really thankful to JB and girlfriday doing recaps! So what I don't get through watching the drama and reading the dialogue, I get it through the recaps :) kahmsahahmnida!!
So like I'm getting quite confused about the goings in President (I'm at ep 4) about the arrangement that IlJung has with Shinhui about going for joint-candidacy??
Oh well... I might drop it if it gets too confusing.
Anyway I find the tension between IlJung and his wife a bit too strained for comfort. It's good portrayal and acting on their part but it's just a little stressful for me to watch.
Hope everyone is enjoying what they're watching! :)

TGIF Peeps!
It took me a while to shop for a laptop replacement. I mourned the lost of my ol' Compaq Presario which lasted me through 8 yrs. of dramaland, thanks to my niece's tactile abilities, now it's successor is an HP 15.6" screen i5-core 720p w/ WiDi; the WiDi adapter is arriving Monday so I can test its feature out. I bought this package under $750 so I won't whine about the significance of 1080p plus I was able to add an entertainment player 8gb [+8gb expandable] 3" screen into the package, loaded w/ my niece's favorite videos, so my niece will calm down during long hours drive hanging out w/ me.
I've been deprived of some kdrama however Midas looks promising, after I finish up Paradise Ranch with a weak finale. One word: Disappointed.
Next.
I don't want to keep a lagging disheartened feeling towards this current Japan Crisis however such a natural disaster is a global wake in many ways. I hope everyone else on this planet is currently content w/ their safer lifestyle. Faith keeps moving forward.

Well I've got good news on J-drama - there will be BOSS 2 and JIN 2 in the coming season starting April. Yay!
To me this has been a while since there are dorama that pulls me. The only thing that I've been watching in 2011 is actually NHK's "Goh - Senkoku no Himetachi" led by Ueno Juri. Attractiveness dropped slightly after Nobunaga died but still it's worth watching IMO.
On K-drama, no CSW and no KSA. Dah. 2nd episode of 49 Days seems to be much more promising than the 1st - not sure if it's becoz of the reduction of appearance of NGR or what =P Reaper is stealing the show!

*Hope Amidst of Tragedy?*
Humanity is not a stranger to tragedy, but a constant companion to us all, like a shadow reflected upon the ground
so pain and misery will followed us all the days of our lives.
The question is not one about of the validity of “pain and suffering”, but one of about our attitude towards pain and suffering, in the context of personal tragedy or the tragedy of others.
I want to be honest, but most times when tragedy strikes, if it does not effect me in a very real and personal way, as in my immediate family, I really at the core of my self do not really care, I can sympathize, but unless I empathize, I find myself only caring at a superficial level, and not at a level where I will do something to help my fellow man. As of right now I have not donated any financial amount to help the victims of tragedy in Japan, I have pray for them but that is as far as I have done.
King Salomon in his essay concerning the futility of life wrote this words;
Quote; “ A Time for Everything”
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
I do not want to used fate or destiny, as a basis for doing nothing, or as an excuse to go on my merry way pretending to care, when in reality I do not.
I will have to agree with the old adage that says; “Actions speak louder than words”, and in this case my personal actions show that I may sympathize, but at the end of the day if I do not do more than just that, I have prove myself that in reality I do not really care, since it does not effect me in a tangible and personal manner, and for that I should be ashamed of myself!!!!!

This is coming from a Southern woman, so please understand.
What is more powerful than prayer? When you say, "I've only prayed," I think you grossly underestimate the power and importance of a universal human practice. When we direct our thoughts in hope towards a Higher Power as one, are we not influencing the very cosmos that surrounds us? When we plead with that Higher Power to show compassion and mercy to a people that are stricken down, are we not calling down glory to fall on that situation?
When a people take their prayer seriously, it has more power than money. Prayer is an action, and if approached seriously, can bring about miracles.

Here is the link (https://american.redcross.org/site/Donation2?idb=0&5052.donation=form1&df_id=5052)
Please I urge you! If you can do more than just "Pray", please donate, lets "do unto others as we will like for others do unto us"!!!! Bless you all!!!!!!! : O }
On a more cheerful note, Shine/sparkle/twinkle, is turning to be a very good drama, New tales of the gisaeng is very good, but I hate guy who plays the lead, he maybe Ok as "Eye Candy", but his acting is dismal to say the least, last but not least 49days, I like it a lot, the lead actress lacks a lot but her interaction with the "Grim Reaper" makes for her lack of good acting!!!!

I agree tremendously, brookeeve. When we pray we open all the resources and riches that heaven can give for the one we are praying in behalf for. And what can be more powerful than that?
But Amg1 seem to be saying that if she/he had prayed and was also given the chance to do more, like help in a more concrete way, but she/he did not do it, then her/his prayers would be like empty words, without heart...just lip-service.

By the way, Im liking the interaction/relationship of JG and BB. Really cool! I also love how the drama started with all the quotes about politics while showing the different scenes in the village. I liked how SMR is a product of her village and yet ahead of her peers....Finding more and more to like/love about CH. Kim Eun Sook did a fine job here. The chemistry of the main leads is also great. The funny scenes between are soooo hilarious, too!

Amg1, you are right. Samsooki is a fascinating recapper. I just read his recap of 1st epi and how he said it "Mi Rae prefers the taste of fried spicy pancakes over the taste of power." That's intuitive! Like his style of writing. He did not have to say much. Sometimes he used the photos to best describe the scene/s if it can do the work better than his words would. Interesting.
Thanks, again. Im watching episode 5 now. Liking the pace so far...

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! I cant even begin to say how much I LOVE CITY HALL! It is pure perfection! Thanks to everyone who encouraged, pushed, cajoled, prodded me to watch this kdrama! I have decided that it is now one of my all-time fave kdramas. The Very Best! It's up there on my list!
From the first scene to the very last, there was nothing excessive, superfluous, needless, astray, out of sync or even remotely boring about this kdrama. Not one of the characters were disappointing...the supporting cast were as excellent as the lead roles. And KSA and CSW....wow! they are fantastic! They breathed life and fervor into the amazing characters of Shim Mi Rae and Jo Guk.
I envy Inju City for such a vibrant journey with these two characters. The story gripped me from the very first scenes when they flashed those political quotes to the very last scenes when they showed the photos of the couple in their wedding garb. The story just flowed effortlessly and fluidly!
There is so many memorable and insightful scenes and dialogues from this kdrama that I dont know where to begin. Right now I just want to soak in the beauty, power and wisdom that is CH after finishing the final episode just a few minutes ago! And samsooki -- well, his recaps truly rocked my world! He enriched my experience of CH to the nth degree...

Once upon a time in Saengchori finale:
Ohh... Show... I can't believe you made me cry on the last episode. This episode btw, was pure BRILLIANCE! Bittersweet but brilliant.
Love the child actor who played the 70s schoolkid version of... erm, X. Have seen him FOA as a younger version of Yoo Seung-ho but his appearance in this finale totally had me tearing up.
Bictoria playing solitaire. Touche!
Na-young and X. Awww.... Actually better than her previous suitor. I wholeheartedly approve. Go snag him, sistah!

Bro: The ending scene was fab, The 70s scenes were sad and Ji Min shaving off the facial hair was BAD - you keep that on, I was all "right click and save" then his hair was back to ozone killing heights and I threw a chair.
Biktoria with her car.. she should have her own show. I knew exactly what was going to happen but I didn't care. Hilarious
Well I don't want to spoil for anyone, they can multiply I guess. Just as long as someones family doesn't get any bigger omg the cost of having to buy presents for all of those family members. Mwahahaha. We're gonna be poor! But we got love. Or something.

I KNOOOOWWW! Ji-min should totally have kept that bit of fuzz for old times sake.
But you know whose hair looks really good? Sonja's. He's gorgeous, he's totally gorgeous... And he knows it. *drool*
Aargh, so much to say about this weekend's episodes. 17 had this stunning montage. This OST is seriously shaping up to be the best OST, evah. It's like they're allowing MIJI to run amok with their brand of folk and classical. It's beautiful.
I kind of hate Damo right now. His character sucks, big time. Then there's the fact that he still can't act. But then sometimes he can.
I also hate horseface. Rara should totally run to jagun omma and never look back.
Speaking of ommas. I'm actually anticipating an epic level smackdown between Saran and her omma. This storm's been brewing for a while.

I want to rant about Lovers.
Rant begins:
I wanted to love it. I really did. In the first few episodes I thought I was really in love with it. But towards the end I had to grin my teeth while watching it while hoping against hope that it will end well.
I hated it. So much so that I even warned my friend against seeing it. She saw it. And she thought it was okay. She didn't get why I was so angry.
I guess at some level I blamed Lovers for ruining the perfect score of Lovers trilogy for me.
I love Lovers in Paris (despite the rather What?! ending) and I also love Lovers in Prague despite its slowness. So in my mind Lovers should at the very least could be loved just as much.
It had potential to be great. In the end it just.....Argh!
