The Choono stuff was stupid. I agree with you 100%. So was her recent dress scandal. Both are stupid issues and I feel sorry for her. Leaving some projects seems partly her decision and partly production's fault, but it is true that she's run into some negativity lately. Hopefully she will bounce back and do a solid project soon.

I love how you brought up Katherine Hiegl. Yeah, LDH always sounds (too) defensive, to the point that it's as if she paints herself as the victim. Which does her no favors, especially because the public is not so forgiving.

Well I don't know about her but Heigl gets a bad rap in my opinion. She is humble and very down to earth. Unfortunately she is often too honest for her own good but never entitled. Also the press want to paint this picture of her as a diva (which just isnt true) and people buy into it even when stories are completely untrue.

she does seem to... voice her complaints... very openly. i think she has made some valid, public complaints in the past but like with the dress incident, it really would have been better if she had simply issued a brief statement through a spokesperson or something. there will always be malicious gossips, and as a public figure, the more quickly she accepts that fact the better it will be for her.

i recall an incident where han ye-seul wore a strapless dress during a singing performance and every time she raised her hands, her bra peeked out, and netizens bashed her stylist for the dress choice. HYS spoke up in defense of her stylist i believe, and i remember liking her more for it as a result.

not saying that lee da-hae shouldn't speak out in the future, but that the dress incident didn't seem worth speaking out about like that i think. it would died out soon enough of its own accord...

i'm sorry but in opinion, she's only pretty but not a good actress. I wouldn't have watch Chuno, My Girl, Green Rose and Hello! Miss (which i suferred to finish) if not because of the great actors opposite he.

I’ve always been indifferent towards Lee Da-hae. While I don’t see her as a bad actress, I’ve never loved one of her performances or dramas (My Girl was just okay for me). I can see why she might have dropped Kabi (Coffee) since it hasn’t been on schedule, and she’s a “top-star”. However, as a fan of Park Hee-soon, I wish she wouldn’t have dropped. Looking at the brighter side, an even more fantastic actress could get on board (not likely but possible).

Side-note: I can’t believe Park Hee-soon is dating Park Ye-jin! They look surprisingly good together! Park Hee-soon is adorbs, and Park Ye-jin was awesomely awesome in Family Outing!

I think she is not interested in acting anymore, based on your report and analysis, I think she don't care much about popularity, she just want to protect herself especially with the writing like this, (and one thing, you so spot on JB, you write so likeable article about YEH, then this report about LDH, and I've been following your blog for many years, I know the pattern of comments that will come, and what a bonus for YEH fans).

oh this... I pretty much thinks she killed Gray's Anatomy at that point in time though the bigger roles were other people... I feel bad for Lee Da Hae and I actually do like her. I agree that if she had taken the "Pil-sook" approach to the dress incident (like "omo how embarrassing, but that wasn't what you all thought haha", you know, just shrug it off) it would have reflected better on her. I understand her being hurt by the comments, I would too if I were her. For her own sake though, if she is to last longer in this business, she'll need to develop thicker skin.
I hope that she does find a good project soon and is able to get rid of some of this bad press.

I never liked her. Dont like her aura, she has this arrogant look,air of superiority and she gives out this insincere vibe. Her rude fans dont help either, they are like the worse bunch, who bash other actresses just to make Lee Da Hae seem better than everyone else. What they dont know, is , that kind of attitude will fuel more hatred towards their idol.

her dress issue was totally unfair to begin with, right from the start... I felt soo sorry for her with the dress issue because we are all women. I don't wanna comment too much about the media management issue since I do realize that she's quite defensive, and that I agree. But again think, who won't? There are many other factors for an actor to decided to drop out a project. Sponsors, producers ,directors......so dont arrow at the actor only.

so sad. i loved her past dramas like my girl and hello! miss. they were such classics! i always went back to them to rewatch because they were so good. hopefully she'll make a grand comeback and then people will know she is a talented actress.

I liked her in My Girl.. Green Rose made me cry but more because of Go Soo.. I don't mind her in a drama but yes, I don't really follow her career/scandals because she has this fake and haughty attitude that come across with her interviews, etc..

I really like Lee Dahae, but I don't really follow her outside of dramas, so I'm not really sure about other things, but I know she's a talented actress. Obviously she needs new PR management because they are not doing a decent job right now.

About the East of Eden thing... Okay, I have to sympathize with her. Anybody who has watched that show, come on. First of all, her role was supposed to be a pivotal role between the two brothers. But what ended up happening? In turn, you saw her screen time dwindle down to mere insignificant 5 minutes per episode. I'm pretty sure that's not what she signed up for. Sure, the exit could have been better, but I wouldn't per se waste time on a project where the writer has completely changed your role and now your role has become that of a 3rd rate actress'. It was pretty much meaningless.

Eh, the girl needs better PR but I like her as an actress so it doesn't even matter..

She has yet to either blow me away or horrify me. BUT I think she really needs to take a class on PR and professionalism. For example I understand what happened in East of Eden and I understand her frustrations on becoming a small character instead of the pivotal role she signed up for but I think she could of handled it much more professionally than she did.

Gosh she quit because of good reasons! Yet when people hate you, they will nitpick everything anything anyhow. I hate how people saying that she has no talents. She didn't just rose up from ashes. She had worked up from the smallest roles to "my girl".

If you watch all her dramas ranging from "green rose" to "my girl" you can see her range.

Anyways, I think she's more love in China. Maybe an exit from korean biz will do good for her. Since everything she does is giving her more pain than love.

I really like her and she's one of my favorite actresses. I thought her departure from East of Eden was totally justified, even if it wasn't exactly professional. But dropping out of two films after that is...just stupid, especially after gaining that infamous reputation from east of eden. Come on now. New management please and thank you.

It doesn't help that her face now is barely recognizable, like any day now, it would collapse or something.

She just has this very unlikable persona, that makes me cringe whenever I see her.
