Jung Il-woo in bed and in the bath

Mmmmm.
One great byproduct of Jung Il-woo being in a new drama (49 Days) is that we’re sure to get lots more photo shoots and other random acts of eye candy while he’s in the public eye again. Even if he does look a little silly posing with an unlit cigarette… Isn’t the implied cool factor of holding a cigarette negated by the fact that he’s pretending it’s lit?
So while the photo concept is kinda…er?…I guess I’m saying I don’t care. He’s by far my favorite character in 49 Days, as the grumpy Scheduler who likes to rock out, rides a motorcycle, and eyes the ditzy half-dead-girl with incredulity and aggravation. He’s pretty, and uptight, and SO about to get his afterlife turned upside-down by his wayward charge. I CAN’T WAIT.

BTW, since his big burst of popularity in his High Kick days, has his popularity increased, decreased, or the stayed the same in Korea?

I think his time away from the public eye might have made his popularity decrease in comparison to some of the rising young stars right now.
After all, it's been about 4/5 years since High Kick, The Return wasnt that much of a hit (correct me if I'm wrong, but it was a mania drama, yes?), and he hasnt had much luck in dramas otherwise...
So, yea, he's known but I dont think he's that hyped.
He's damn hot though.

From what I have read here, he is earnest in his desire to be a good actor, and tends to be VERY honest in all his interviews. Maybe too honest?
He said outloud that the Oh My Lady script for the character he played wasn't good, and he spent time doing live theatre to hone his skills more. He takes criticism for his acting well.
I like that!
And he is lovely lovely lovely...I like his mouth.

JIW was the reason I watched High Kick, but Return was what convinced me I needed to follow his career. Like Jomo said, he was really open about his confusion over Take Care of Agasshi, but I'm okay with that since he seems perfectly willing to accept criticism himself- and furthermore, use it to improve.
When it comes down to it, yes he is really, REALLY pretty. But what I like best about him is how earnest and hard-working he seems. He takes roles he's uncomfortable with just to expand and grow as an actor, and doesn't appear concerned about raising his popularity. Interestingly, that makes me want his popularity to grow, haha. He just pushes a lot of my buttons.

I think the same too. A short glimpse at the back of the corpse on the tar looked like him & he was momentarily taken aback by Ji-Hyun in the souless girl body elsewhere, if I read correctly...
Yeah, he's my fav character in 49 too at the moment and I think I'll like the architect and the souless girl too!

You know what? Something just occurred to me. . . He so could have been an F4. I never got into the Korean Hanadan because no one could ever replace Inoue Mao and the J-boys for me, but maybe if Jung Il-woo was Jiho-sunbae or even the Player-sunbae, and than someone spunky like Han Chae-young in her Choon Hyang days doing Jan-di, I may have been sold. . . Oh, the what-ifs in life. Than again, he might have been wasted after all the bad I've heard concerning the story and the production. Well, back to salivating.

각종 인터넷 게시판에는 '49일'이 지난 2003년 출간된 신화의 팬픽 '49일간의 유예'와 흡사한 점이 많다며 표절이 아니냐는 지적이 나오고 있다.
네티즌들이 의심의 눈초리를 보내는 이유는 기본적인 키워드가 비슷하기 때문.
'49일'은 결혼을 일주일 앞두고 교통사고로 혼수상태에 빠지게 된 주인공이 자신을 진심으로 사랑하는 사람들의 눈물 세 방울을 49일 안에 얻으면 환생할 수 있다는 조건을 저승 스케줄러로부터 제시받고 벌어지는 에피소드를 다룬다.

Pretty similar eh? Both stories deals with death from accident. Both dramas deal with some sort of recognition within 49 days deal. Actually, it is the same story, but 49 days changed the ending though. They made a tradition melodrama 반전 ending but it's still interesting. I think the new ending is okay, but I am sick of people stealing other people's work.

I find it especially funny that production team had already consulted their legal teams to make proper adjustments "before it aired". Changing the 3 tears criteria was clever adjustment though.

Yes, I worked really really hard on the translation. I referenced ancient texts, some extra-terrestrial texts, as well as ones I will find in the future.
I also consulted Yoda, whose influence found clearly is.
sikyeojunda is a word. Once the future arrives, I will be able to tell you what it means.

If 49 days, that would really suck because I wanted something that had a darkly comedic and stirring touch... Which they're doing pretty well. Not a melodrama... >.>

I think his decrease in mainstream popularity has actually led to more people regarding him as a serious actor (because he's gone for more off-the-beaten roles and activities). A trade-off, I suppose.

I cant explain it but, personally, the western 80s/90s Fabio-alpha male turns me off. My tastes tend to be a bit eclectic, I think...
that said, I dont think Jung Il Woo is a pretty boy. If anything, it's (looking at High Kick) Kim Hye-Sung who was the "pretty boy" (and I find him good looking too). But, I dont think he's rugged manly either....
He's in the middle and just right :P
I think people look a certain way to fill a certain role. And people are attracted to what that role represents haha. :D

Oh man, I'm laughing my pants off at the mention of Fabio. I was never a fan of the Fabio-look, or Fabio himself. My goodness, I can't believe a lot of the Romance books from my younger years had a Fabio-lookalike on the cover. Truthfully, my tastes vary, but I'm not a fan of overly muscular dudes (except said dude is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and even he is toning down the muscles). It's okay to have muscles and be fit, but too much is a turnoff for me. But Alvina is right, it all depends on your personal taste and perhaps even the role the person is trying to fulfill. I mean I liked Jake Gyllenhaal before he was all muscular and what not and that dorky-look he used to have was awesome, but I don't mind the chiseled look he has now too. Pretty boys make people around here drool the same way rough hotstuff like Lee Jung-jin and Lee Jung-jae do. . . . I guess I can understand where Dreamer is coming from. I could never see why Rain was considered hot, but whatever rocks your boat I guess.
