Jeon Hye-bin drops out of Poseidon
by javabeans
Actress Jeon Hye-bin (Yacha) has announced that she will be dropping out of Poseidon, which is due to, and adds to, the drama’s growing list of troubles. Uh-oh. Does this portend even more problems for the already beleaguered production?
According to a source with the production company, Jeon is exiting the drama because of its repeated shooting delays, as well as the fact that the drama lost its airdate, which had been scheduled for May, but was then retracted by SBS. Stating that it would be too difficult for her to wait around in uncertainty, she decided to bow out.
Granted, Jeon isn’t one of the main leads, so her departure probably won’t have a huge effect on the drama. (The main leads being Eric, Kim Kang-woo, and Kim Ok-bin.) Plus, it’s probably easier for supporting actor to leave at an indication of trouble than, say, the headlining star who’s locked in, if not by contract stipulations then certainly by reputation and image considerations. Still, Jeon Hye-bin has filmed the first two episodes, which means reshoots are required, which adds some burden to an already taxed production.
The reason for the filming delay is attributed in large part to the particularly cold winter, combined with the fact that the drama has a lot of shoots on or around the ocean, being as it’s set among an elite maritime counterterrorism unit. With the heavy snowfalls lasting longer than in previous years, that pushed back shoots till mid-March.
The drama is currently without an airdate. It’s understandable, since it wasn’t likely to make its initial May 9 premiere, but still worrisome since the show is running into so many issues so early in the game. Fingers crossed it makes it through and on the air without further complications…

My thoughts exactly. Not that I don't understand why actors/actresses would want to bow out when things start looking bad. HWAITING~

I was really looking forward to Poseidon. It would be a real shame if it didn't make it.

Well, didn't Kim Ok Bin want 20000 Won if Eric was getting 30000 won? And that is a part of the problem. She actually has a case.
Since Eric took 600000 in February, this company stands to lose lots of money if they have to go cable to get this drama out.
But aside from all the problems..
Poseidon's biggest problem isn't really the actors, though, it's that all other stations have already rejected it. All the major stations believe that the drama wouldn't work. Meaning Poseidon only has one station going for them and that station just changed their mind. It's just like what happened with Uee's drama.
So what are the chances that the station will change their mind again? Close to none. Poseidon's production company may say it is postponed, but unless something drastically happens, it's likely scrapped or headed to the cable if they were to film it.

You meant US$ and not wons? since that's like US$2K per episode? XD
I thought Ok-Bin gets 20mil. wons per episode for this drama, she wants more?
I'm still hoping it will get an airdate later in the year or next year even. However if it doesn't work out, I wish the production will make the scrapping call soon enough so every one can move on with other projects.
The current burst of networks' suddent cancellation will probably add a lot of pressure for the current & future outside productions. Even if an airdate is scheduled, their drama/investment could go down the drain in a blink of an eye since there's no guarantee at all that the networks will commit to it...... *sighs*

No it's 30,000 won per episode and 20,000 won per episode. It was in won^^ that would be approximately be equal to $25,000 US dollars (Eric) and $18,000 US Dollars (What KOB asked for).

Ah..I see what you mean, sorry about that. I was thinking in Korean and I missed out on many zeroes here. I always get mixed up when I try to transfer won into dollars, why is that? haha Yes, the dollar figure I posted is correct but the Korean won was incorrect. It's 30,000,000 won and 20,000,000 won.

hehehe too many zeroes for sure XD
Yup, 30mil. & 20mil. K-wons (USD$27,000 & USD$18,000) respectively for Eric & Ok-Bin. Wonder what Kang Woo & Yunho get...
With Kang Woo also picking this drama, I wanta believe it's decent :) Hope things will turn out for Poseidon.

SBS decided to go with Lie to Me (now called Sweet Scandal), which apparently has Lee Seo Jin and Park Shi Hoo as the male leads. Rumors been flying that it will be Yoon Eun Hye's next drama.
Nothing confirmed, except its on the schedule.

Well, honey, you do know that lately many high budget-profile drama with top-billing stars and SEEMS really good proved to be empty can, rite? Most of them from action genre, which is Poseidon seems to be.
As for WU, first I believe in it, but now starting to suspect there may be really something wrong with it. Almost done filming, presented to major tv station, but no one wants it? There you go.

I don't think he did, but I don't think his role was a lead, so he may not have been mentioned this time around.
