“I’m discovering that acting is fun”: Song Seung-heon interview

You know the general feeling ’round here about Song Seung-heon (My Princess, East of Eden), who is known mostly for his inverse looks-to-talent ratio. So imagine my surprise when I read this interview where he’s endearingly frank, and jaw-droppingly self-aware…which is just NOT how I imagined the guy who has but one serious facial expression…which is neither serious nor expressive. I mean, he literally admits to spending a good part of his career just trying to look cool. HA.

The 35-year old model-turned-actor debuted sixteen years ago, and I first saw him on the sitcom Three Men, Three Women which ran from 1996-1999. Seeing him in a sitcom first explains why I generally like him, despite his lack of dramatic chops, because he’s always been good at funny. Not in a crafted, obvious comedic way, but in a poke-fun-at-himself way. He makes reference to his character on the show, whose entire concept was that he was the only one who thought he was funny. It was 2000’s Autumn Fairy Tale that launched him into Hallyu stardom (and the subsequent slew of serious, melodramatic roles). Thankfully he’s come back around to comedy with My Princess, which has garnered him praise as an actor…maybe for the first time ever.

Here’s a translation of the interview he did with Yonhap News, the day after My Princess wrapped.

Have you slept? They say My Princess‘s schedule was murder.

We filmed the last episode until 6pm the day it aired and then went straight to the wrap party. I didn’t drink very much, but I totally crashed. I think I was just so tired. My manager put me in the car and drove me home, and then said it took an hour to wake me up once we got there. And then I finally opened my eyes at 7 this morning. I don’t know if it’s because I slept so little for two months, but I couldn’t sleep for very long. I didn’t see the last episode because of the wrap party, so I woke up and watched it.

How do you feel about it now that it’s over? Any regrets?

Honestly, there were times during the shoot when I really thought we weren’t going to make it to air with that episode. The schedule was that unbelievable. I’m just relieved we finished in one piece. Of course there are things I regret. But the genre and the character were fun. I think any experience in the end makes me who I am.

Why did you choose a romantic comedy now, and why did you wait till now to do one?

With the drama East of Eden and the film Invincible, I was doing a lot of heavier projects, and I kept hearing from people that they missed the ‘Unfunny Song Seung-heon’ from my debut days, in the sitcom Three Men, Three Women. And then this project came in. Episodes 1-4 were already written, and they were really funny. But then I didn’t know that starting with Episode 5, the scripts would start coming in late. (Laughs) Why didn’t I do a romantic comedy earlier? When I was younger I wanted to look cool. Back then, more than a happy ending, I wanted to do projects that had a resonance.

What’s it like now that you’ve tried a romantic comedy? A lot of people are saying that you’ve ‘found your clothes.’

I’m always putting on a serious face, with heavy acting, so this time I got to have fun. It really felt like I just came to play. The schedule was hard, but the acting itself was really fun. I’m always playing roles where I’m trying to look cool while carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders, but I didn’t have to do that for this role so I liked that. (Laughs) If I have the chance, I’d like to try a romantic comedy movie as well.

You’ve never had so many cutesy love scenes as you did here. Could it be that you really fell in love with Kim Tae-hee?

If you see it that way, that means we acted really well. (Laughs) I just shot it comfortably like we were really dating. Park Hae-young’s childish and playful side is a lot like me. But when I’m dating, I’m more aggressive than Park Hae-young, so his passive expressions of affection became really frustrating for me. Park Hae-young was hesitant to marry Lee Seol, but in real love, when would that happen? If it were me, I would’ve said, ‘Let’s just run away.’

It’s great that you’ve found a role that fits your image so perfectly, but is there any regret that you didn’t do this sort of genre in your twenties, when Song Seung-heon was ‘prettier’? You’re now in your mid-thirties. Do you feel older?

Honestly, I don’t. In our drama, Lee Ki-kwang is 22, and that actually did surprise me, that he’s so young. But I still feel like I’m a high school sophomore. It might be because I still hang out with the same friends from that time, but if I look at the way my friends and I play now and back then, it’s the same. (Laughs)

Even if you don’t feel your age, you must feel some change. What’s changed?

My approach to acting has changed. It happened since I came back from the army. A sense of responsibility is something I feel more and more, and I’m discovering a sense of enjoyment in new things. Before when I received a script, I would just act it out like a machine. But now I think about what else I could bring to the scene that isn’t written there, and I have room to look past myself.

I’m not trying to make myself stand out anymore; I’ve learned the importance of harmony. I learned I can’t just do things according to my own ambition, but that fans should be able to watch and enjoy the project. If before I did things to serve my own ambition or to appear cool, now I think about what I can do for fans through this project.

I received letters from foreign fans who wrote that they came to know Korea because of me, and it made me feel the effects of Hallyu. I don’t think I thought about those things before. But now I think they instill a sense of responsibility in me. I’m also having more fun. It’s not just because it’s work anymore, but now I want to enjoy acting and have fun. There’s still a lot of talk about my acting skills, but that’s just something I have to work at, and aside from that, I’m discovering that acting is fun and I’m learning to enjoy it.

Why weren’t you ambitious about your acting before?

When I was younger I never dreamed of being an actor. I was an ordinary kid and became an ordinary college student. And then in 1995 someone who worked for a fashion label came into where I was working part-time, and asked if I wanted to enter a modeling contest. And then they picked me, and all of a sudden I was a model. Kim Sung-jae was the main model and So Ji-sub and I were just starting, and then when Kim Sung-jae died suddenly, somehow So Ji-sub and I became the main models.

And then after that, I came to do Three Men, Three Women. Without any preparation. So I started without any ambition to feed, and I got an enormous amount of criticism, saying that I couldn’t act. But now it’s different. Now acting is the best I can do, and it’s a career that I’ve invested more than ten years in. In my twenties, I just thought, ‘This must be what I’m doing.’ But now I’ve come to think about the fans and the public before myself.

Do you have any fears? Do you ever worry about losing popularity?

Ever since I was a newbie, I always had it drilled into my head not to be attached to popularity. So I’m actually not the type to be concerned with that too much. Of course, I’m human, so it’s better to be popular than not, but it’s not like I could be a youth star forever. While working on My Princess with Lee Soon-jae [who plays Grandpa], I saw how passionate he was, even at his age, and it made me want to become like him. I actually became ashamed of myself while watching him. He spent his youth digging deep to learn his craft, but I’ve never done that. I never dreamed of being an actor when I was young. So now I’m full of regret that I didn’t do the same.

What do you do on your down time?

I go play with my friends or I exercise. I play golf. Now that I think about it, my life is kind of boring. (Laughs)

Any plans for marriage?

I really want to start a family. But that’s not so easy to do. I don’t have a partner. Who knows, someday somebody I’ll love will suddenly appear, and I might be talking about marriage.

I agree that SSH needs to do more comedy, less brooding type roles. Yes he was good looking and melodramatic in East of Eden, but he felt much more comfortable being Park Hae Young in My Princess. You could tell he was enjoying his role (and Yes, the script writers threw us off completely in the middle of the series but it ended on a good note.)

Hope we get to see him more in another comedy type drama/movie soon!

Thanks for posting!

I read through this time and didn't look at pics, or ways to make jokes. This is my take:

He grew up in a family that adored him, and who wouldn't adore this?
http://adada37.tossi.com/posting/20081021103345741606

or this?
http://bbs.joinsmsn.com/app/special/370919

Being used to getting attention, he loved playing the role in the sit-com that got the laughs. As his career grew, he still relished the feeling of eyes upon thars, and his goal was to keep the attention. He wanted everyone to think he was as cool as THEY thought he was, so he took roles that delivered this image.

He took on more of the angry "let's hit people with metal pipes" roles, and by contrast, after feeling the comraderie of being in the army with a bunch of guys OUT of the spotlight, he realized that being cool was lonely.

Maybe gravity started to work its magic on him, too, and he realized the pretty was gonna be harder to maintain.

Maybe he made so much freaking money on the CFs that he realized that he could pick roles where instead of getting punched and bruised, he could tease and flirt with pretty girls and get paid for it!

Now he is at a place where he can let the youngins do the shower scenes rather than him (Oh god, NO!)
and he will spend more time on his craft. (Thank goodness he didn't say "craft." Maybe there was one too many Hand Towel jokes.

I don't think he is serious about starting a family. That is one of the things these guys say just to shut down the line of questioning.

This is one area of life I think the Hollywood stars could learn from - why get married so early with so much temptation out there? I'm not even going to bring up Tiger Woods here.

I think Warren Beatty did the right thing by waiting for a long time before getting married to a beautiful woman and starting a family.

Jomo, why don't you post the URL of that blog here?

I think Tari does make a good sugestion about 'writing about Mr. Hand Towel'. In that regard why don't you put the series of that hillarious letters sent by Don't Call Me Mr. Hand Towel in the Mr. Hand Towel blog? We should never loose the proof that Mr. Hand Towel does exist.

I don't want people to look at me strangely when I tell them how much I love Mr. Hand Towel.

I'M IN LOVE. How cool is this guy? It's wonderful to see him being so candid. Watching him look back and see how he's gotten to where he is now, and where he wants to go, is such a fantastic growing process to witness. (Also- preeeettttyyyyy)

This is the first thing I've seen him in, so I can't speak with experience to his supposed lack of acting skills. I think it's important for someone to recognize what they're good at. Some actors don't have as big of a range, while some wow us with their ability to just become vast varieties of characters. I hope Song Seung-heon becomes the Korean version of Hugh Grant- not too versatile, but he does his one thing and does it well.

I think romantic comedies get a bad rap in the acting world, but they have their place and snubbing them is just denying yourself the fun.

I hope SSH does not become like Hugh Grant in his personal life though. HG is like a boy who just happen to be very good at what he does: play roles that fit him to a "T". I hope SSH grows up better than HG in real life. Professionally he can easily take on the same image of awesome but self-deprecating guy like HG if he plays same roles like his PHY in MP over and over again...which can become dull after a while...

Okay, I had to stop playing for a moment because I am never going to get my serious thoughts regarding this article down if I don't. In reading some of the comments expressed by others above, I would like to make the following annotations:

1. It is good to see a degree of what I consider reality and humanity in Song Seung-Heon being reflected in his answers.

2. SSH indicated: "If I have the chance, I’d like to try a romantic comedy movie as well."

With the development of actors/actress' abilities, there is much import to work with someone who they can "click" with. One person who I thought did so well for her second time out of the gate is Jung So-Min. She was hilarious in Playful Kiss. I think that SSH's maturity and JSM's freshness would work well together in a romantic comedy movie. The only concern I have is that they might not "click" due to the 13 year age difference. Kim Tae-Hee is only 4 years younger than SSH.

3. SSH Indicated: "I received letters from foreign fans who wrote that they came to know Korea because of me, and it made me feel the effects of Hallyu. I don’t think I thought about those things before. But now I think they instill a sense of responsibility in me."

What a remarkable statement. One of the questions I was asked in my life was, "What sort of legacy do you want to leave behind?" I believe that SSH has become aware of his impact on the people who view his work. It's pretty amazing to have such a global awareness in an actor and to read about his desire to leave a legacy not only regarding his work but also for his country. That is pretty deep.

4. SSH indicated: "I came to do Three Men, Three Women. Without any preparation. So I started without any ambition to feed, and I got an enormous amount of criticism, saying that I couldn’t act. But now it’s different. Now acting is the best I can do, and it’s a career that I’ve invested more than ten years in. In my twenties, I just thought, ‘This must be what I’m doing.’ But now I’ve come to think about the fans and the public before myself."

This is a powerful self-revelation he made public: To start out in a part-time job, transition to becoming a model and then an actor without any training or motivation other than survival... or being cool; Then to be forced to take such a heavy responsibility of serving his country, putting life on hold for 20 months, realizing that there is more to his job than just surviving, there is responsiblity, there is enjoyment. He was able to return to his job with a better outlook, even a willingness to continue to learn from his coworkers and audience.

What I am waiting to see now, is how his growth will continue? Does he have a willingness to help those who are less fortunate than himself? Is there a willingness to donate his time and talents for the service of others when he will get no physical reward? Can he do it? Will he do it? And not just for the cameras or people pleasing, but out of a joy for life and a love for Korea and his fellow mankind?

5. With regards to marriage... Take your time, enjoy your single life. All things happen in due time. I didn't marry until I was 38 and my uncle didn't marry until he was 62. We both had very fun and fulfilling single lives.

However, I will say that would be exciting to see more growth and changes in SSH's acting as a result of marriage. With marriage, a person willingly becomes partners, accepting much more responsiblity in the lives of your spouse and your families. Such an event would definitely change how a person portrays characters in acting.

Thanks GF for the coolest and most revealing interview ever on SSH.

Who would've thought that after all those years he had not really fully discovered the fun in acting???

Just shows why it is only in MP that he finally got his groove, so to speak. Good for him. It shows how much fun he is having in MP. But why only now? Maybe the reason was that he "knew" he was cool right after he debuted and only cashed in on being a cool guy since then. It was just fortunate that he was just so darn gorgeous that he was able to build a career even with only that. Only to find out later on that there is more to this career that he found himself in.

I don't think he lacks acting chops. He was just not as self-motivated to improve his skills more. Acting takes a lot of work and by his own admission he did not give that much effort towards this direction before because probably he can already get by with only the pretty. Just shows how FUN can motivate us to want to learn more. Thanks to his PHY role for giving this opportunity to him to want to work more towards having the same passion as grampa!

For someone so delicious as him, you'd wonder why he is not committed to anyone yet at his age. But maybe he might really be looking for someone like HGI...it was not just by chance that he chose her as his ideal over all the other women/actresses. I heard in one interview that HGI does not like handsome men. So there! Ironically for someone who lived on the pretty, he was actually hoping he would be loved by someone not for his looks alone.

And there is SSH who loves to poke fun at himself ;-)

He is growing more and more adorable in my eyes! and I don't like handsome men...at all, hehe.

what sets apart SSH from other pretty actors is that he sends the message that he knows how awesome he is...but not in an arrogant way but in a self-deprecating way. other pretty actors either cannot be bothered with that knowledge or they are annoyingly proud about it. SSH knows he is lovely to look at but tries to divert his attention to his flaws or warts and "pokes fun at himself" as GF so aptly says. that's charisma! ;-) no wonder his market value increases a million-fold the longer he stays in this biz/industry...

This is really an exciting thought:

I don’t think he lacks acting chops. He was just not as self-motivated to improve his skills more.

Jomo, clichique, I think SSH has not yet given his everything to any of his roles yet, well, to the point of pure abandon that is why he has always been criticized for his acting by some. He is too self-aware for his own good. The really passionate and brilliant actors can be quite crazy when they get into a role that they are totally immersed in it. SSH sounds nice and level-headed so he has not really thrown himself yet completely in one role for him to be considered in the level of for example Al Pacino, Leonardo di Caprio both fiery and passionate actors (Hyun Bin can be in this category:-) Sometimes I think that's the reason why some people still notice his head-tilt, a personal tic, which he should be able to overcome/hide when he is portraying a role not himself. He can only do that if he gets inside the skin of the role he is playing so much so that he begins to be that person already and not SSH. Pretty scary stuff. But I can see that with right motivation; and if he sees he is being recognized for his acting he can give the others a run for their money. He has it. We see a hint of this fierceness in the CF's and the modelling that he does. He has the rhythm and the timing; he can make a go for the award-winning acting if he really puts his mind to it. :-)

So here is a fashion thought. I noticed SSH is wearing low-rise jeans. I wonder if he finds them more comfortable than high-rise jeans? I know that I prefer to wear low-rise jeans because I am short-waisted.

The Lollipop Stallion/Mr. Hand Towel really is a melodrama actor at heart. His performance in My Princess was actually pretty similar to his performance in East of Eden (still the best thing he's ever done); he is most sure of his acting when the situation calls for him to tilt the head. :)

In terms of his personal ambitions, I actually interpret it as SSH reflecting upon the ENORMOUS control he has with his projects (producers, investor.) Much like Bae Yong Joon, dramas are as much business investments as they are opportunities to play somebody else (though really himself again as "Jun-suh oppa.")

looking at these gorgeous and yet so simple photos, i suddenly had the thought that Seungheon and Choi Siwon look kinda alike... It's like Siwon was Seungheon in his 20s and Seungheon will be Siwon in his 30s... hotness!

actually, if Seungheon had to draw comparison with any of the hot idols now, I think he looks most like the guy from Dream High, Taecyeon. It's the face.

a bit of a late reaction but, sorry to disagree, Taec doesn't fall on the "pretty" category. he's more of the manly man features...

He is so self-aware :O I always admired him (perved) for his incredible looks and body but from the interview, he sounds like quite a funny man :D I hope he does more romantic comedies because I think that the main man in those type of shows suits him more. Suave, cocky (in a good way), confident but knows his own faults.

And that part about being aggressive in love. OMG BE AGGRESSIVE IN LOVE WITH MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I joke (I'm not joking) HAHAHAHAHAHAHA :D:D:D Love him even more :D

Good interview.

Like how Song Seung-heon did a shout out to actor who played 'Grandpa' in 'My Princess'. Interesting how Song Seung-heon doesn't seem that concerned with developing his own acting so much. Personally I like how he acts.

Personally I could see him together with Song Hye-gyo. Funny if it happened.

Awwwwwww. What a great interview.

I miss MP :-(

I like how gently he offers his criticism of the production: scripts showing up late, regrets about the last episode.

Really, it's should be a crime to be this handsome and thoughtful and self-aware at the same time.

Can't wait to see him in something light again.

Hi all,
To all MP fans. Please check this out&dont worry about those two, they will(or have been)fall in love to each other.
From soompi thread:

30 reasons why SSH is interested in KTH
(written by a Chinese fan, credit to rise2above)
http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=995319400

1. When SSH jokes, he will turn his head and look for KTH's reaction.

2. When SSH speaks to idol group, Beast, (I forgot the actor's name, it is Lee .... ) and asks him who he is, SSH will turn around and look at KTH's reaction.

3. When they are at a restaurant near the sea, KTH talks about age. SSH said I felt like I went back in time. He said we're in year 1995 right now. That means he is only 20 years old. (I think (referring to the fan who wrote this article) he is comforting KTH saying we're still young)

4. Not really sure if I am getting this one or not. KTH was asked how is SSH's porridge and she said it is great! SSH walked away smiling and and rejoiced.

5. KTH felt ticklish when SSH was putting his hand into her clothes. KTH said SSH looks like a "beast" when she saw him half naked in episode 1.

6.I am not sure if I am understanding this one or not. When KTH and fans were taking photos together, SSH signed autographs and he told her to pause.

7.When SSH was giving a piggy back ride for KTH, he was just required to put her back to her original spot but he put her on the bed.

8.At the parking lot, KTH looked at SSH's direction first then turned to look at the crew members. SSH secretly peeked at her. When the camera faced SSH, he quickly turned away because he was shy and startled

9.During the press conference, SSH and KTH constantly bumped into each other or have body contact. KTH gave away an avoidance feeling. To me it felt like she was electrified. Even though it was only a second, it felt intimate.

10. SSH said that he treats girls who are not his girlfriend very aloof and will maintain a distance. A lot of girls have confessed to SSH but SSH is a faithful type of guy, he will not accept the love of any girl.
KTH said she rarely eats with her past male co-stars and will often maintain a distance. Back then there were actors who asked her out on dinner but she rejected. This time, she happily eats with her male co-star, SSH. (Revealed by KTH).

11. KTH said she wants to find a man who is tall, gentle, handsome and has a sense of humor. These are descriptions of SSH's well built figure, and the man who has a sense of humor KTH is looking for.

12. During the press conference, when SSH talked about KTH, KTH always blushed. Every time he accepts an interview, he will talk about her more than himself and always mentions how she is better than him in many ways. He also says he needs to learn some of KTH's strengths.

13. SSH mentioned before that he admired Lee Byung Hun for having a candy kiss scene in IRIS with KTH. He hopes to work with KTH and do a greater kiss scene with her. KTH also mentions that she wants to work with SSH before and how she felt nervous prior to filming.

14. When SSH knew that KTH will be taking part in this series, he knew that he had to accept this drama immediately. Last July, KTH mentioned how she wants to be passionately in love. SSH said he hopes to find his lover in this year's Christmas (2010?) He knew he will be working with KTH during Christmas. He even put up the photos he took with KTH on his me2day blog. The crew members who saw it praised them as an angelic couple, fans who saw it say they look like husband and wife.

15. When they were taking poster photos, SSH had to carry KTH up. When he placed her down, he pretended that his legs were weak from carrying her up. Before the scene when SSH took off his clothes, he commented that KTH is heavy. KTH said what is there to be disliked about.

16. KTH said she hopes to find a guy who loves her inner private self. SSH said what kind of bias do people have against her. He revealed a lot of her embarassing things. It appears on the surface he is making fun of her but he actually finds her adorable. Does that mean SSH wants to be that guy who understands KTH's inner, private self?

17. Unlike working with former male co-stars, KTH seems to be acting more freely and loosely in front of SSH, allowing him to act naturally and in turn, letting her acting talents to erupt which earned her a lot of praise.

18, The MC asked SSH what is your secret receipe to achieving a rating that is over 20%. SSH is always mentioning KTH. SSH is giving all the credit to KTH and not claiming any.

19. KTH's white iphone was handed over to SSH. SSH held it with a warm smile and took a picture for KTH. KTH's cell phone contains so much private information, how can she just give it to a guy to use so easily?

20. SSh said he believes in love at first sight. He said if he finds his true love, he will do anything to go after it unconditionally. That is my perspective on love. I (referring to SSH) will not tell the woman I love to give up what she has, I will rather give up whatever I have, that is called "love." KTH said it only takes her 4.5 seconds to determine whether a guy can be a friend or a lover to her. Both person believe in love at first sight. Their perspective on love is so similar, both are the type of romantic people who will pursue fairy tale love. It is rare KTH will call a man oppa. She would refer most of her former male costars who are older than her as sunbae (senior), like Lee Byung Hun.

21. When looking at the trailer, KTH is touching the wheel of a carriage. SSH is also using one hand touching the wheel, the other hand touching the seat KTH will be sitting at. According to psychology, this action that SSH performed is a sign of intimacy.

22. About the part related to the prince's body figure, the MC asked if KTH had frequently reminisced about it or not. KTH at first denied it. At night, KTH did dream about it. Yet she still did not want to admit it. She was covering her face and laughing. At the end, the MC replayed the NG where KTH acted shy and all, KTH finally said in a relaxed way, " Because SSH body figure is too good."

23. SSH said KTH eats more than him. When they were having hot pot together, KTH would eat the meat even if it is not cooked. After she was done, she would say to SSH: oppa, "How come you are not eating?" SSH responded: "The meat is not ready but you already devoured everything."

24. Last time, SSH said he read some of KTH's news and one of the messages that got left behind said" KTH does not need to go to bathroom." He was laughing hysterically upon reading the news. Why does SSH pay so much attention to KTH's news and trivias?

25. KTH said she is currently 31 but she still does not have plans for marriage. She will wait till 35 before she starts to think about this topic. Her 4 criterias of a man: Looks, wisdom, sense of humor and gentleness. (That must be SSH! Haha)

SSH said if by 40 years old, he meets a woman he loves at first sight, he will marry her the next day. 2 or 4 years apart is totally fine, alluding to someone's age isn't that far apart from his.

26. KTH said: He (SSH) has a very moderate and interesting personality. He is someone who I can play around with and teases. To be honest, he is very good at cracking jokes. This morning when I was in the changing or fitting room, (KTH was already laughing nonstop as she said this, covering her mouth to suppress her laughter), on the side of the room's window, suddenly a stranger opened the window and greeted everyone.

27. KTH said before she wants to work with SSH. Before their collaboration, she remembered how she felt her heart pounded and how tense she was knowing she will be filming with him soon.

28. SSH expressed: "To be honest, I am the type of person who likes to act whiny in front of my girlfriend. On the surface, I am almost someone who does not want to talk much, that is because besides my girlfriend, I treat all the girls around me aloof. In one of the NGs, SSH said to KTH, " Am I worrying about you?" Afterwards he patted KTH on the shoulder several times, a form of whining to her.

29. When they were interviewing, SSH said: To Korean men, KTH is a woman they dream of dating, so happy that there isn't any word to describe it. (SSH was laughing so hard he could barely cover his mouth up)

30. SSH said he knew KTH likes eating meat. He personally prepared 200 pieces of meat.

Wow! This is one very observant fan here. Thanks for sharing with us, have fun.

From the looks of it, both SSH and KTH seem to have broken out of their usual mold when they did MP together. It could be because the story they were doing was easy-going and funny in the first place and it could also be because they might really begin to like each other more than just as colleagues. Well, we all hope it would be the latter and this would lead to something more :-)

If SSH said he is the type to be aggressive with someone he really likes then we can be rest assured that he will not be just waiting along the sidelines. But Ive seen SSH in BTS of his other shows and he was consistently funny and playful with his leading lady so he might just be his usual self. :-)

Anyway, hope they will find their true loves in their own perfect time...

One point on the hectic shooting schedule (in no small part due to the late scripts) - it's no wonder actresses like Jeon Ji hyun prefers doing films here and there w/ a no. of CF shoots in btwn.

Why kill yourself shooting a bi-weekly drama when one can take it easier and make more $$ doing films and CFs (albeit it would be nice to see JJH in another hit; which is why it was disappointing to see her reportedly turn down MGIAG - but then again, SMA was pretty much perfect for that role).

I'm glad he's learned so much about his career and literally finding himself along the way. He's really down-to-earth. Sweeett. I'm glad he was in MP too. I've always avoided the heavier dramas and never really bothered to see him as the brooding cool type but he did fantastic in MP. I find him more attractive with that comedic aspect to him.

Please be in more romcoms. ^^
