Jumong couple back together for Crime Squad

Song Il-kook (A Man Called God) and Song Ji-hyo (Goong) were first paired in the 2006 sageuk blockbuster Jumong, and now they find themselves paired again in the upcoming KBS drama Crime Squad.

Not having watched much of Jumong, I can’t tell you what their chemistry was like then, but they sure look playful and winsome here (which makes me see Song Il-kook in a different light, actually, since he’s always played such intense characters). And, yeah, a bickering couple cuffed together (the less intentional, the better) always makes me laugh. (It’s for that reason only that I got suckered into watching Three Brothers for waaaay too long, I think.)

In Crime Squad, he plays a homicide detective while she’s an intern reporter. As you might tell from these stills, they get off to a rocky start; they find each other irritating but have to put up with repeated run-ins, clashing all the while.

Song Il-kook said of his co-star, “Working with Ji-hyo again after four years, we’re meshing together extremely well. Since we’re good friends, the mood on set is very easy and I’m able to act comfortably, for which I’m thankful. We make up for each other’s weaknesses, and together, I want to make this a good drama.”

Song Ji-hyo said, “Song Il-kook sunbae has gotten into his character to an astonishing level, so as his colleague, I’m learning a lot. He’s always very thoughtful on set toward the staff and cast, and takes such care to make the set an enjoyable place that I’m grateful to him.”

The drama will follow Dream High on Mondays and Tuesdays, and premieres on March 7.

I like that Song Il Gook gained his weight back! I watched him in Jumong, Kingdom of the Winds and then A Man Called God...He was really hot in his last drama with the 6-pack abs and all but I prefer him with a body like the pic above!

If i remember correctly, they were never romantic in Jumong. Rather than a cute or passionate love, they had a relationship of trust, respect, and affection. So I don't remember much chemistry but their roles didnt really call for any.

Right! And this is what made upset for the whole drama, for some reason i wanted Jumong to love Ye So Ya, yet her living as his queen at the end made me quiet satisfied =)

Anyway, i always loved them together so i'm happy they're back :)

I watched Jumong until the character of Song Ji Hyo appeared, heehehe --- Jumong was in love with the other girl before he met SJH. And yes, Jumong and her character were never romantic.

i wonder if this is rom com? or action com?

Honestly, I wasn't much of a fan of theirs in JUMONG.

He had (a MUCH) better chemistry with Han Hye Jin, that's for sure. It'd be great for Song Il Gook & Han Hye Jin to reunite in a romantic Kdrama once again.. they were great! :D

everytime i see her now,i start to think about her "dirty" scenes in Frozen Flower, which is not a good thing. too graphic for my liking! *shivers*

I'm curious, is it really that "graphic"?

And this maybe a dumb question, but when actors/actresses do those bed scenes, is it real?

The sex isn't real, of course but nowadays they don't really use body double anymore especially for films that require some sex and nudity. Normally the actors will bare it all (yes, that includes Ssanghwa Jeom/Frozen Flower).

I skipped most of the sex scenes lol, but really, the movie wasn't really that great.

0

Required fields are marked *

uhm...YES! @ first, i thought maybe they's use a body double for the full shot but then it showed her and that guy from "what happened in bali" in like full body instead of the face, meaning i saw his butt, haha prettttty disgusting, although they are actors, i kind of lost respect for them in my opinion. but hey, i guess they are really good actors because it seemed real.

oh, and Frozen Flower also had a gay scene which was so wierd because in real life, they aren't. it was a fullllllllll makeout session with them two.

Apart from the sex scenes, the movie was fantastic.
i was kind of shocked to see the full naked parts and skipped as much of them as i could but the acting was fabulous and the ending was heart breaking!

you just lost respect for actors who were just doing their job? lol how old are you?

i just find that that the scenes were not appropriate for such high class actors. it's just my opinion,no need to lash out.

Wow all u guys posts are really hilarious, hmm how can u pple be saying he lved her not the other, dey are just doing wat dey are passionate for not adding their emotional life to it,so dey just hve to do their best to mke d movie a good one,so even if dey fall in love in the movie dat is wat dey where asked to act not wat dey feel,so pls stop matching couples in movie, kudos to song ji hyo nd song ll kook, pls do ur best in life nd follow ur instincts

Agree with Lea.. that movie is R-Rated (or maybe even more) so I dun think that's appropriate for children. So if you're a kid and saying that that movie is

The movie is absolutely stunning in my opinion, with or without the sex-scenes..

the gay scenes.. hello, that's the most eerie relationship ever, given the time and era of that story.. without it, the movie will be just another movie..

0

Haha might as well not have watched the movie at all if you were going to have that opinion, i mean read the synopsis first before watching it.

Fast forwarding sex scenes, but man oh man, doing that is like fast forwarding half of the movie because there were just so much of it. Storyline was interesting and great acting but yah, gay scene for me had to be fast forwarded.

Wasn't interested in Song Ji Hyo's character in Jumong nor Goong before (honestly thought she was a weak actress), but after Frozen Flower, I've changed my mind. And after watching her in Running Man, she sure is funny and strong. Love the Monday Couple too hehe.

Finally, YAY Song Il Guk back with another drama. Skipped his A Man Called God (he looked soooo anorexic in that) because wasn't feeling the story. Hope this drama does well.

I know what you mean! I loved her in Goong and when I watched Frozen Flower I was like...

Song Ji Hyo? O.o

But I love that she's able to come back to TV after so long and I am most definitely going to watch this because of her.

I just really hope I'm mature enough to enjoy it without relating back to Frozen Flower... lol

Same here. Seeing her first in Goong and then "naekid" in Frozen flower was quite unexpected - same goes for her male partners. Other than the graphic scenes, what I liked and remembered the most in this forgettable movie and its WTF ending, was the "Sword dance" with the drums. Too bad that they were mixed with said intimate scenes.

-----

Couldn't help but notice French references in her outfit, with "Je t'aime" (e. g. I love you) on her sweater, and her grey Tee bears a Gallic rooster, a national symbol of France, and the design of Le Coq Sportif, a French clothing company. Dunno about the pants nor the shoes, tho.

Oh man, I really didn't like SJH in her role in Jumong xD I admit I have a rather biased opinion towards her (I was totally and fully on the Jumong-Soseono ship, for all 80 episodes) but she's a decent actress, from what I've seen.

On another note, SIK is looking fierce! He looks positively babyfaced in that Jumong photo. Aw.

HEY EVERYONE! I've been itching to start a new drama (I need something to keep my mind off Dream High and My Princess, LOL) and I finally have some time to marathon a few episodes today.

PASTA or CITY HALL?

i disliked Pasta and quit watching City Hall as it gets repetitive and is similar to My Princess plot wise. the bad parts of the plot...so it might get repetitive if you re watching My Princess too.
thus:
i d say Pasta...
but it s not a drama i d usually recommend.

Coffee House is way underrated if you haven t watched it yet.
Once upon a time in Saeng Cho Ri is hilarious and cute: i haven t read any mention of it on the boards.
He Who Can t Marry was awesome and underrated as well.

Song Ji hyo is one of my all time girl crush. loved her in Sex is Zero 2.

I remember Jumong from way back. like the others said they didn't had much chemistry in the drama since many root SIK more for Han Hye-jin's character. anyway I think this is a good chance to show the chemistry that lacked back then since by looking at the pics I can tell that they look good onscreen. I haven't seen Song Il-kook's last drama but I'm anticipating this drama more :)

Oh I loved Song Ji Hyo with Song Il Gook in Jumong, they looked cute together even if the guy was supposed to cry all the time for Soseono.
I hated back then Han Hye Jin because she spoiled my favourite couple : Ji Hyo and SIG. They look really nice together and they seem to have chemistry, but they couldn't show it very well in Jumong days , due to the screenwritters who put very much emphasys on Soseono's character.

Now it's the time for those two to demostrate that they are able to be a great couple, love them both
