Jang Hyuk adds another movie to his busy schedule

Busy, busy Jang Hyuk has signed on to another project, and that’s in addition to his movie The Client and the upcoming drama Midas: He has been cast in a cop movie called 독종, which translates to Tough Guy, or heartless or hardass. Take your pick.

The movie is an action thriller that stars Jung Jin-young (Itawon Murder Case) as a hardened detective trying to solve a “labyrinthine” case whose statute of limitations is on the cusp of expiration. Jang Hyuk is his suspect, a criminal who skillfully wriggles his way free of the police dragnet that attempts to capture him.

Jang’s role is described as fairly small in comparison to Jung’s lead role, but promises to have “a strong impact” in the movie. I’m thinking that means we’ll see him as a mysterious villain who remains on the fringes, rather than one half of an equal showdown a la Psychic or Secret Reunion.

Perhaps having a smaller role will explain how Jang will manage shooting the film, which begins its shoots in April, when he’ll also be in the thick of shooting financial-world-themed drama Midas — that premieres on February 28. Methinks he’s in for a lot of long nights and packed days.

In any case, this film will give him some practice playing an accused criminal, since his character in The Client is also a prime suspect (of the murder of his wife).

maybe he realizes that his looks won't last for long... as sex-symbol
Jang Hyul will continue to act...after 40 too but I bet he won't have the same offers as he has now

Otoh, JH is better looking now (has more manly, chiseled features) than he was during his younger days (Windstruck, Volcano High) when he came across a bit dorky.

While I dont necessarily agree about his attractiveness (it's the voice, more than anything... soo sexy) I guess he's striking while the iron's hot. Before some other hottie comes along

I only like him in Thank You, his other works didn't really impress me (couldn't finish Chuno). Just think if he didn't drop out from SG, what will that be? Hmm...

As much as I LOVED Jang Hyuk in Thank You, I can't really imagine what it'd be like if he stayed on Secret Garden. Hyun Bin was flawless as Kim Joo-won and imagining anyone else in that role, even IF it was the equally great Jang Hyuk, is almost akin to sacrilege. Anywhoo, gotta love 'em both ^^

I think Hyun Bin suited what the character called for. It's not hindsight bias; it's just that Jang Hyuk is too rugged, too manly to be as (dare I say) needy as Hyun Bin in SG.

I also wonder if the writer edited the Joo-won character to fit Hyun-bin more once Jang Hyuk dropped out. I think Jang Hyuk may have also made a good Joo-won too if he had done this role in his younger days. But it was not meant to be and we had a phenomenal Joo-won in Hyun-bin.

Wow, busy, busy man. Liking the sound of the films.
I think I'll be giving his drama Midas a chance -- even though my interest levels are like zilch. I do like that cast.
He's also rumoured to star in a sageuk later this year.

I'll give Midas a shot for him but also Lee Deok-hwa and Kim Seong-oh who seems to be popping up a lot lately.

Jang Hyuk is hot, but I really like Jung Jin-young. After Happy Life, he holds a special place in my heart. He has a charismatic screen presence, and I’m glad he’s starring in another project. I'm sure he'll rock the cop role. Plus, I can’t wait to watch his latest movie Pyungyangsung. There are so many korean movies that I want to watch, and the list only gets longer.

At first I thought, "Oh, didn't he already play a movie with the same title?"until I remembered "Riiiiigggghhhtttt. Anything Jang Hyuk is in has to do with tough, bad ass guys."

Even the most normal guys he plays has to have SOME type of athletic ability and a bit of rebellious flair.

Like him only in Thank You, other than that, find his acting a little stiff and over-act; both in other drama and movie.
