Kwon Sang-woo considers new film project
by javabeans
Reports are circulating that Kwon Sang-woo is eyeing a new movie project, which would have him working with Kwak Kyung-taek, who directed the 2001 blockbuster movie Friend as well as the 2009 drama version, Friend, Our Legend.
The project is called Pain, and unfolds around a loan shark who can’t feel pain and a woman who is hyper-sensitive to the pain of others (Korea really loves these setups, doesn’t it?). They, of course, fall into “an unavoidable love.” If anything, it’ll be interesting to see a loan shark portrayed as a hero for once; they (understandably) are typically portrayed as villainous or at least antagonistic types.
Kwak had been planning to work on a different film first, Beautiful Us, which had at one point cast Hyun Bin in the lead; however, the film lost him and has halted production. The director turned to other scripts in the meantime, and with investments secured for Pain, is now getting to work on pre-production.
Kwon hasn’t committed himself to paper yet, though the production company reports that he’s in talks with them and considering it favorably. His own reps confirmed that he is looking at the project, though they emphasize that it’s not a done deal yet. He probably won’t decide till the lead actress is also cast; rumors are that a top A-list star is in negotiations with director Kwak for the role.
Kwon has had a string of disappointments in recent years (Cinderella Man, Bad Love), but has found his footing again with SBS’s current hit drama Daemul, in which he stars opposite the fabulous Go Hyun-jung, who just won a Daesang (her second in two years) for her portrayal of a president.
Pain plans to enter filming early this year, as soon as casting is completed.

Movie sounds... okay. But I like KSW, even though I've only liked in a few projects.
Hopefully this year will be better for him.

When Kwon and Go Hyun-Jung made an impromptu appearance on the radio program CulTwo last month, he mentioned both of them had movie projects lined up after Daemul. Didn't know it was a Kwak Kyung-Taek movie for him, but sounds interesting as his post-DM choice. LOVED him in Daemul (and loved watching GHJ tear up as he accepted Best Actor at the SBS Drama Awards), and I hope 2011 continues to challenge him as an actor.

He really needs a big rebound of his career. I watched bad love and that’s it. I hate his role and I kindda find his acting lacking and really hate the story. Anyway missed his teary look and I find kdrama incomplete without him I hope this one will make a big bang on his career this year.

Daemul has been the big rebound, the 'big bang' for his career since Stairway To Heaven. That's why he got emotional at the SBS Awards and Go Hyun-Jung was so happy for him, she shed tears herself. At this stage, it's too soon to say anything about his next project, but my curiosity's definitely piqued about the possibility of his working with someone like director Kwak.

Yap thank you for that matter… Anyway everybody knows that Stairway to Heaven was his biggest break that leads him on the PEDESTAL. My gosh... I can’t imagine kdrama without him in the list. As JB stated he was a little bit disappointed because of his previous work that didn’t mark on the rating that bespoke the worth/quality of the drama. But for me its his role that’s not really suitable for him. I don’t know but I can’t feel that heart wrenching emotion I had when I was watching him on Stairway to Heaven or Sad Love. I mean he could have chosen a much better story …. Because sometimes even though the execution is perfect but the story makes the difference. I couldn’t’ say much about Daemul coz personally I haven’t seen the drama but I heard it was good! So, good luck to me still waiting for the right drama.

I also hate Bad Love!
But I love Daemul. Admittedly, I haven't finished yet but so far it's very good.

Hmm...this makes me wonder had Daemul actually worked out when it was initially announced what would have happened...would have GHJ passed on Queen Seondeok or would have KSW spared himself the tortuous agony of Cinderella Man...either way its good to see him back on his feet.

May I just say how ridiculously cute the current header is? Shin Min-ah hugging a bear..with a tail (did you photoshop this?) hahaha. I smiled involuntarily when i saw the header. Lol.
About Kwon Sang-woo, never really liked him. I saw Love so Divine because of Ha Ji Won. I didn't even see him there. ahaahaha. But is he a good actor?

this is OT, lol, but since you mentioned it...that header with Shin MIn ah, she's adorable and all but the pose with the bear creeps me out..if maybe the bear was faced another way but the way it's posed makes it kinda...kinky...lol...am I the only one?.
